It was my first day in France and after a few hours of roaming around the city I realized that I…read morehadn't eaten anything. I had passed this place once because it was next door to my Airbnb, and it seemed to have a fairly nice crowd, so I decided that I would go back to check it out! Having gone to Brazil earlier this year, I was excited to be able to eat more Brazilian food and maybe even practice Portuguese ( I know I know..speak French in France lol) So I walk in and without hesitation I say "Boa Tarde" (Good afternoon in Portuguese). The woman that greeted me was very friendly and even asked why I was eating by myself haha. So I sit down and she bring me a menu. She immediately tells me that there is a buffet going on, or if I would like that I could choose any items from the appetizer portion of the menu! That was a QUICK no brainer! Unlimited Brazilian foods and dessert!? Are you kidding me? So I walk over to the buffet table where I see a variety of Brazilian favorites (Feijoada, Tapioca, Black Beans, Rice, etc). I pile everything on my plate and prepare to dig in! Sometimes I can be q little hesitant with buffets because the quality of food tends to go down, but this did not disappoint. The food was still hot, and seemingly freshly cooked. The flavors reminded me of Brazil, and the samba in the background made me feel as if I were back in Rio! As people walked by and saw me enjoying my food (probably a little too much) their curiosity got the best of them and they came in to join the feast! From what I saw, everyone seemed to be very pleased with their meals! The buffet turned out to be about 18€, and I would say that it was well worth it for the quality of food, and the friendly service of the staff in the restaurant. The rest of the menu items seemed to be fairly priced, and are served generally after 7pm.

Amongst them, they threw in the idea of Sunday afternoon roast chicken at Brutos for which they said reservations were needed and quickly grabbed. If you're feeling overwhelmed by hoofing around Paris all day, the notion of a late afternoon lunch of a whole roast chicken holds sway and when you waltz into the warm embrace of Brutos you'll know you've chosen perfectly. That embrace comes not only in the food, but in both the atmosphere and service level. This is a restaurant that would also find success in San Francisco (high praise). After leading with wine, beer, a delicately beautiful asparagus starter (€14), and beef tartare (€16), two of us shared one whole roast chicken (€58) which was stuffed with both a lemon and an onion. Both would be a good accompaniment to the chicken but I only came upon them as we neared the end. Fries accompany the chicken and mustard is a good accompaniment to request (Brutos stocks no catsup) if the provided dip is too rich for your palate. I opted for a 2:30pm reservation, scooping up the last time slot available and staying until what appeared to be closing time, though I felt no rush or prodding. From start to finish, Brutos was a lovely experience and, as my reliable friends noted, a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon in Paris.
