We absolutely love this candy store and always make a point to come and visit whenever we are in the area. We love the quality of the chocolate and carmel here, and the fact that it is homemade is even better. They have such a variety of different candies and chocolates that there is a little something for everyone, and we always end up walking g out with a whole bunch of yummy sweets. The customer service is always top notch. The people are always super nice and kind, plus they have extensive knowledge on the sweets they sell and are more than happy to offer recommendations and insights. This little treat was a random find by my coworker. I am so glad he found it. They had a variety of treats, candies and chocolate. I like they had white, milk, and dark chocolate which is a plus for me. The person at the counter was knowledgeable and nice. It doesn't happen often, but I do get a sweet tooth and that means going into a confectionery shop only when I'm in the area because the prices here are a bit steep. I did not set out to go here but their outdoor sign beckoned me. This shop is rather small and they already have Valentines candy displayed. I picked out some chocolates w/nougats that should satiate me fully. I don't know if these owners are the original ones, but they could have been more cordial. read more

The Caramel Shop is the only place I go to for all my Easter candy needs. Their jelly beans are the best by far! They are not overly sweet and I could eat a whole bag in a single sitting (I try not to though). This is also my favorite place to pick up some milk chocolate nonpareils. The chocolate they use is delicious and the nonpareils are a nice size. I usually pick up a pre-made bag by the front counter. They are also a perfect size to give as a gift. Trust me, people will remember you if you give them this gift! Unfortunately, I haven't really explored much further than their jelly beans and milk chocolate candies. I stick to what I like! The store is very small and a bit outdated. When you walk in it feels like you've been transported back in time. When the store is crowded (i.e. Holiday times) it can be very hard to maneuver and it can be difficult to figure out who is on line and if you are cutting anyone. It's a bit of a dance really. Also, the parking lot is very very small with not that many spaces which is another headache you have to deal with if you come at a busy time. All in all, these little headaches don't bother me when it comes to buying their delicious candy. read more

Bad business when you can't make eye contact with a customer and treat them as if they're bothering you. Horrendous, RUDE, unprofessional owner. I was the only person in the store. I greeted the man behind the counter, told him Ive loved his candies for years, that my grandma & mother have shopped here their whole lives & its a family tradition every holiday to have these candies in our house. That was a compliment. The man did not respond except to tell me the dollar amount I owed him for the candy. I am from Wanamassa which is where the caramel shop is located in New Jersey my mother raised us on this chocolate especially around Easter Christmas and birthdays we would do the same for Mother's Day and Valentine's Day please listen to me this man who runs the shop for the past 40 years is such a hard workingman he is their morning noon and night he hires young kids that need a job and they do the best that they can because this place is always in motion everybody goes to this factory because it is absolutely delicious so what the store is small it's been there for 100 years the chocolate is creamy delicious handmade it is out of this world creamy isn't the word it is made with a lot of hard braking work the dark chocolate is spectacular the butter crunch is fantastic all the truffles to die for is the upmost quality so what the price is increased so did the sugar fields everything goes up but I have to tell you I live in Ocean County New Jersey which is about 25 to 30 minutes from the shop and I still go there there is no other shop around that taste as good as the Caramell shop I recommend everything in the shop he does not make the solid milk chocolate Easter bunnies anymore because they are so expensive I still order them personally but he also sells chunks of milk chocolate in bags and chunks of dark chocolate I have to tell you if you want delicious candy or chocolate it's the shop! And for those people that say that nobody's nice in the shop I'd like to see you run this place 24 hours a day seven days a week and deal with customers constantly screaming at you nobody's really nice today in the stores anyway so I have to say that's no excuse I've always gotten the best customer service in this store!!! read more

Placed a large order for a special occasion. A sample was weighed to calculate an estimate and I paid 50% down. I subsequently reduced the order by 6%. When I picked up the order the cost was 55% more than I was quoted. I understand cost is determined by weight and I expected a slight variation in the final price, but not 55% more. Owner would not come out to discuss. Could just hear him yell, "it's by weight so that's the way it is." Saleswoman added, "what you gonna do" as if this was how life works. A quality product will take you just so far if the customer service sucks and you feel you're being taken advantage of. What am I gonna do? Take my business elsewhere next time. read more

We had a pretty awful experience today. Awkward location and a dated interior. The woman was very pushy and kept demanding that we tell her exactly how many pieces of fudge we wanted but she refused to tell us how many pieces are usually in a pound so we genuinely didn't know how many to tell her. She never did give us an idea so we just made up a number and then she started taking all of the fudge out of the case without using gloves. I couldn't bring myself to eat any of it but my mother ate a piece and she said it was dry, chewy, stale, and not that chocolatey. Don't bother with this place. read more

Went in for the first time, told the woman that I had trouble finding them because their Facebook page didn't have an address (it didn't) and she INSISTED that it did and that I should "check again". I didn't need to check again. I let this go as she was only hurting her own business. The thing that threw me off was that I was charged $8 for 4 small pieces of marzipan that was stale and outsourced, which HAD A STICKER ON IT THAT SAID $5.49! I had a horrible experience at this store and I will not be returning. I have shopped at this store for years because the chocolates are excellent. However, the customer service was beyond poor! While I waited in line for the cashier to finish wrapping my chocolates another worker said to me 'are you having a girl or a boy'. Well the candy is very good. But the owner is a candy nazi and rude as can be. If you complain at all,, he won't mail you any candy ever again. Even tho, They made the mistake and mailed the wrong candy. He uses caller ID and refuses to answer the phone. I'm very serious that he does this. That is not a way to do business.
