This was a perfect getaway to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. A bit of a rough drive for my little Yaris; along bumpy, dirt roads in wet conditions but it was worth all the mud splatter to see The Cottage waiting for us on the other side of the tree covered driveway.
We were greeted by a wood fire already burning and a living space filled with natural light from the large glass doors and windows. The 2 bedrooms were beautifully appointed, with a shared modern bathroom with sliding doors leading to an outdoor bath. The kitchen was a great size with our welcome grazing platter and bottle of wine waiting in the fridge.
We were given a wifi code but the rainy weather hampered its use and reception was sketchy at best so you can expect a phone and social media free escape. It was not hard to adjust. We went for walks, bird watched, left oats out for the wildlife, star gazed, read by the fire (finding a new series I am now in love with), drank lots of tea, sampled beer from a brewery in nearby Dungog and cooked a delicious carbonara (zesting in some lemon from the tree outside).
I loved it here so much and it was sad to pack up the car to leave. I hope to be back again someday soon. read more
