Upon entering my partner and I chose a nice booth in the window and had a look at the menu.
There is a great choice of food to choose from including 'challenge meals' on the last page.
I decided to go for the 32oz rib eye 'Bulls Head' steak, which is served on a skillet with a bed of fried onions and mushrooms and a heap of fries, and my partner went for the 'Hot, Hot, Hot' which consists of a flaming hot Naga chilli chicken, hot pulled pork burger, hot chicken wings served with rice, chips and sour cream.
We went up to the bar to place our order and were served by Ieuan who was friendly and helped us with our orders along with 2 large Cokes.
Unfortunately, they had run out of the Bulls Head steak so he suggested the next largest steak they had which was a 15oz rib eye which I had with skinny fries and salad. This also comes on a hot skillet with fried onions and mushrooms which was great.
We took our drinks and sat back down to wait for our food to arrive. There were several other people also waiting for food.
After about 20 minutes had passed by we started to wonder where our food ws as we were extremely hungry. We had seen lots of other food leaving the kitchen but not ours...all being brought out by one waitress, who didn't seem very happy.
After almost 45 minutes my steak finally arrived and was dumped on the table along with a tray of sauces and the waitress said 'There you go...' and then walked off back too the kitchen. My partner was still waiting and had to make do with watching me eating mine.
I had asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare, but came out barely still medium and was fast heading past medium, but still tasted extremely nice so I carried on eating. Everything was hot and tasty.
After nearly an hour my partners food arrived, which was also dumped on the table, but not any sign of an apology for the extremely long time it took to arrive.
I had gotten half way through my steak and had eaten all my fries so thought I'd buy some more so I went to the bar, where there was a queue of 2 other people in front of me.
I stood patiently waiting for the people in front of me to be served. The same person was behind the bar who had served us earlier. He was anything but quick and you would think there was only 1 person at the bar with nobody waiting.
Eventually I got served and asked how long the fries would be as my meal had already taken 45 minutes to get to me. He said 'I would hope its not long for some fries'. He asked a different waitress (who had taken over from the other one) to go into the kitchen and ask them to do them asap.
I thanked him and went back to my seat again. Within a few minutes my fries arrived and the new waitress said 'sorry about that sir' in a very patronising way.
During the long time I had waited to be served at the bar (to which the manager had now put in an apperance) my steak had now cooked its way to almost well done and tasted awfull.
The fries that arrived were also barely warm. This meant the last half of my meal was ruined.
My partners food was also not the best and some of the chicken wings were over cooked and hard.
We had no check back in the entire time we were there.
We had eaten in there about a month ago and things weren't that good then either but thought we'd give it another try.
Will we go back...? highly unlikely!
Looking on their twitter page while waiting for our food, showed there were streams of other people that had experienced similar issues... read more
