When the Wetlands was moved from its original setting, by the Red House Pub, to here it caused a huge amount of controversy. And rightly so. Cardiff Bay was a natural habitat for wildlife and birds and with a tidal range that was one of the biggest in the world, relocating was always going to be difficult. Particularly as the Bay is now in effect a man made lagoon with virtually no tidal range.
They seem to made a good start. The area takes in theTaff Trail, so there will be a lot of people visiting over the years. Going out onto the boardwalks, gives some of the best views of the Bay, particularly, early or late in the day. It looks well thought out and will develop over the years.
My big concern is the space they've allotted to it seems a bit on the small side. Cardiff wetlands originally by the Red House was a huge site and attracted a lot of bird watchers. This is much smaller. We'll have to see what happens read more
