Situated at the Road Safety Centre in the Maindy area of Cardiff, just off North Road, the Council's Road Safety Unit provides a range of education and training to various groups - including schools, cyclists and motorcyclists.
They also produce a range of publicity relating to road safety, and organise School Crossing Patrol services.
The new Centre has a range of facilities including a specially designed 'artificial' outdoor traffic education layout for practical training to help pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and drivers. The layout includes roads, pavements, traffic signs, traffic signals, a pelican and zebra crossing - and even a mini roundabout! The centre also has offices, lecture rooms and training rooms, used by a variety of groups.
Apart from its training for motorcyclists and cyclists, and its work with schools, the centre also offers a low-cost Cycle Helmet Scheme to encourage more cyclists to wear protective headgear, and a Baby Seat Scheme which loans or sells low-cost baby seats. read more
