I have yet to see any place that has staff that is really focused and concerned for the children's well being. Each level has a staff member in the pool with them and at the most, there are 4 kids in each level at a time. Prior to moving a child up to the next level the staff tests them and they ensure that the children are confident in what they are required to know in there current level being moving them up. The pricing is comparative to other local swim schools but this one is excellent!

There are the obligatory lollies and ice creams, but plenty of healthy choices here too.

There's a café at the entrance that sells a variety of focaccias, salads, lasagna and pies. It's floor to ceiling windows overlook the wave pool, keeping a peaceful (and dry) atmosphere, without losing the feeling of being at the pool. There's also a little canteen inside the pool area that sells your regular fried food, lollies and ice creams. The center also has a gym upstairs (addition costs), two family change rooms, spa & sauna (additional cost), a warm wading pool, wave pool, kids pool, baby pool and outdoor pool. It also offers excellent disability services. Personally I try to only come during the morning, because the afternoon holds a lot of kids classes which take up all lanes except one (which makes it very difficult and squishy for the casuals like me). I also prefer the morning because well...its probably in my mind, but I swear the water is yellower and saltier the later it is in the day. I mean the water isn't crystal clear to begin with (so much chlorine you can only see 5-10m in front of you), but at least it's not murky...yet. If you're grossed out, the outdoor 50m pool has lovely water and you can see over 20m in front of you, but the hours are limited throughout the winter months. I still enjoy coming here, as it feels big and modern, and doesn't have that stuffy feeling that most little places have.

There is a beautifully clean 50m, 8 lane pool that is indoors & heated year round. The lap lane availability is conveniently accessible online and is updated weekly. There are always a mixture of lane speed allocations (fast, medium, slow and aqua play) to ensure that lap swimmers are not disturbed by those just "playing" or "paddling". There is also a sauna, spa and steam room available. The staff at reception are always warm and friendly. Overall, it's a great local pool for my swimming training! It should also be noted that there is a full gym with group classes and a children's pool for swimming lessons. There are plenty of change rooms, showers and toilets. Check it out if you are looking for a nice clean local pool this summer (or winter - it's heated so no excuses)!

The gym is well equipped with a large variety of machines, weights, balls and mats and many of each too. I rarely had to wait and if I asked (nicely!), other members would be willing to share too. Staff would always say hi and remind you to do reassessments. They were never pushy but motivating and empathetic. I have done at least 5 assessments there with multiple staff and they were all keen to listen and work with your skill level and goals. I've been at 6am, 3pm, 7pm and random days and staff are always welcoming and the members are 98% all friendly and non-judgemental too. I haven't been to the classes but there are tons to choose from but I've been to the pool a few times and I've always had a great swim with minimal people in the change room and maybe 1-2 other people in the swimming lanes. Nice whirlpool/spa area too that is open and relaxing. Easy to get to, fun contests to enter the more you go, tons of parking, helpful staff in the building if you have questions or need to suspend your license, cheapest yoga mat EVER ($15!!), multiple change rooms and community market every Saturday just outside the building too from 8am - 1pm :) While the price is much more than what I've paid at home in Vancouver, I think this was a great value for what I paid here - I would, and have already, recommend this fitness facility to anyone!

This means that between 4 and 7, the times when most people finishing class and going home would really like a swim, lanes are very hard to come by. The best times to swim without the rugrats are when the schools aren't there - around 9-10, 2 or very early in the morning. This pool offers a water women program (a women only swimming time), so women can feel safe coming in and swimming or learning to swim. The teaching staff are great, really friendly and patient, and the pool offers comprehensive learn to swim program - and are one of the few pools that I know of to offer adult swim classes. As a uni student, I like that I can go for a splash to clear my head before class, and as far as uni facilities go, I'm definitely a fan. However the changing rooms are really bad, not cleaned enough. Or ever. I take thongs and scrub my feet when I get home. Don't leave your wallet there, either, there are a lot of thefts.

Discounts for students, general concessions, and for sharing the same bank account as someone else. Frequent Challenge Fitness (boot)camps are held for guests and members, school holiday programs, and all those little things you forget available for purchase at the front desk. Member discount, hurrah. Also a nice little cafe area (only drawback the Lavazza) with healthy, not so healthy, and kid friendly selections. It's half an hour walk from my house and I still love it. Yes, even post-Pump.

The pools are fantastic but you get fast swimmers in the slow lane just because there are slow ones in theirs (that's if you get a lane of course). It's pricey too but the water slides are a hit with the kids (20 minute wait minimum) and the kids pool is a wonder to behold, lots of fun for the litter members of the family. We personally choose the outdated but Outdoor Carnegie pool as nobody goes there anymore (we just take sunscreen).
