I started working with Hunter about 6 months ago and it was the best decision I've ever made!! I've…read morebeen working in the same industry for over 20 years and knew I needed out, but honestly has NO CLUE what I wanted to do with my life. I remember during my initial free phone consult, just feeling so completely defeated with no direction... and after only 20 minutes of talking with Hunter, I felt hope for the first time in years. She has such a calmness and kind heart that made me feel at ease opening up to her, yet an indescribable passion and fire that made me believe that at the end of this, I was going to be able to achieve greatness! Even when I didn't believe in myself, I truly felt that she did, and that kept me going. The way this program works is really magical. Danielle did a great job of putting this together, because I honestly do not think I would have finished with the same outcome, using another method. It takes you back to your childhood and forces you to dig deep into distant memories, both happy and sad, and really has you dissect the reasons behind the feelings of these memories and why they had the impact they did. It continues to move on throughout your life, thinking of situations and stories that left both good and bad tastes in your mouth, and then goes back and compares these to the childhood memories. It's amazing the patterns and similarities that I discovered along the way. As fascinating as this all was, at the halfway point of the program, I still had absolutely no idea where this was leading and if I'd ever be able to find something that was right for me. I started to worry that I was not going to be a success story, like all those I read about in the Yelp and Google reviews, and I may have just wasted my money. I expressed these concerns to Hunter and she reassured me that this was NOT going to be the case. She said that she believed in me and my journey and that she knew we would find the perfect career path that was meant for me, so I had no other choice but to trust her. I always left my zoom meetings with Hunter, feeling so hopeful and truly inspired! I remember telling her on one of our first sessions, that I always felt so good after talking with her, that I wanted to do what she did! I told her that I wanted to be someone's Hunter; the reason someone smiled again, found their confidence and felt hopeful for a better future, after coming from a place of negativity and defeat. Even though I said this early on, it didn't hit me until much later in the game, that I my true passion was in coaching. I have decided to leave my long time career aviation and go into wellness coaching, focusing on fitness, nutrition and mindfulness. Never in a million years, would I have come into this program thinking I'd have a skills or bravery to leave the corporate world and start my own coaching business, but that is exactly what I am in the process of doing! I owe Hunter more thanks and appreciation than I will ever be able to express, for this truly insane and much needed career transformation!

Hunter coached me through this process. I can't say enough good things about her. She is professional, kind, and a fantastic listener. She really listens to everything I'm saying and is able to understand and get at the core of what it is I am saying, sometimes before I even know what it really is I'm trying to communicate. Since she was able to understand me so well, she was able to provide me with good takeaways. She also asks great questions that help reveal more insights. I started going through this process with hardly a guess on what I may want to do next. The Inner Compass Process helped me get very clear on what my values are and what talents I want to be utilizing in my next job. Hunter and I talked together about some jobs that involve these values and talents and now I know which job I want to pursue. I even said I'd prefer to not go back to school and we found a job role with no extra education required. Thank you Hunter!

Specifically, she taught me a very helpful framework that would give me clarity into what I wanted next, but also into what I actually needed. Alana thus helped me set clear boundaries and discover what my next step looked like. Once this was clear, one of the most difficult parts of my work was done. Alana is able to play a very personal role in helping you achieve your career goal. She takes her time to listen and understand your inner needs very well before she comes up with a plan. She truly believes that we all have a potential which we can achieve, if we take the right steps to get there. Once Alana understands your inner needs, she is able to easily unlock any personal or professional limitations and help you fulfill your potential by focusing on the specific areas that need action. I would highly recommend Alana to anyone who needs guidance with their career, seeks help regarding the job market, has uncertainties about the psychological part behind getting your dream job, is interested in recruiting -- her knowledge & experience around the area is incredible; or simply getting to know a gifted soul! :)

Alana has provided career guidance for me multiple times over the last 5+ years. She genuinely…read morecares about you as a person, and that remains priority #1 while she lends her extensive experience in Bay Area (and beyond!) recruiting to your personal situation. Alana will take the time to understand you as a person and provide counseling beyond what could be expected of a typical 'HR-type' looking to fill their next open position. With her inside experience she is able to guide your resume, conversation skills, and expectations to highlight your skills and strengths, and help you expose potential employers to the 'you' they really want to meet. This can be difficult for those with 'engineering minds' like myself who tend to be more objective, and Alana definitely helped me step out of that box. Most recently, I worked with Alana to update and improve my resume. After a single session we had completely re-worked one section of my resume to better reflect 'my voice' and clearly state my accomplishments in a way that highlighted my abilities as well as reflecting my personality. The difference from the initial draft I sent her to the final draft I used for interviews is subtle but dramatic, and I am positive it played a role in the callbacks I received. To hand over a resume that truly represents you makes everything that follows more natural, and that is a HUGE deal when making career moves! Beyond the resume, Alana was there to talk out any concerns, nerves, and provide encouragement throughout multiple levels of interviews and offer negotiations, something that can be overwhelming for someone at any level of professional experience. She has helped me aim higher than I would have on my own and provided the insider confidence I needed to push for the best possible outcomes. Could not recommend anyone higher; do yourself and your future a favor and let Alana guide you through your next professional moves.

One thing I wish I had known beforehand is how important it is to have a clear idea of the specific type of role you're targeting before starting the resume process. During a job search--which can be incredibly stressful and uncertain--I didn't feel that my experience or challenges were fully understood or acknowledged. Navigating a job search takes strategy, reflection, and support, and unfortunately, I didn't feel there was much empathy offered throughout this process. If I could do it over again, I would work with a career coach first to gain clarity and direction, before investing in resume services like this one."

I engaged Personal Touch Career Services in September 2019 to get them to review and tweak my…read moreresume. they had been recommended by a friend. I paid my $498 and they did what they do, changes were made etc, and before long I was sending my resumes and letters were being sent out but I got zero response. I still didn't feel it was saying the right things the right way for my industry so a few more changes were made but I had the same lack of results. I stepped away, changed a few things myself and sent it to people direct and I got a better response and even some work. I chalked the money spent, at a time when I couldn't really afford it, and the experience I had up to it being 'just one of those things' that don't work out for me and my situation and I moved on. Not long after I got a year long contract as well as some other work (but that was through my work in general, a recommendation, and my self-tweaked resume). With both their resume and the one I did, I got very little pick up via job ads. Flash forward to late 2020 and PTCS reach out to get feedback on the service I received. I explained how it hadn't worked for me and I had drawn a line under it, and we set up another consultation. I also provided copies of the current resume I had made. Donna, who is lovely, ran tests and gave me the results, and that was kind of it as 90 day options had long run out. The most significant advice I got was to open a Jobscan account/subscription and read chapter 11 of the book I got as part of my package. Should I have gone back again within the 90 days? Maybe, but I wanted to draw a line under it and try a different approach (which included getting industry friends to input on my resume). All I know is that while Personal Touch Career Services have been great for some people, and I'm delighted that's the case, working with them didn't get results for me. Also, if you're reaching out after 90 days to get feedback and offer help and the main response is, 'We can't do what we could have done because it's after 90 days,' that doesn't feel like the best result to offer. It certainly won't make me look at giving PTCS more of my money. They might work for you, they're certainly nice people to deal with, but for someone working in journalism and production for over 25 years, it didn't bear fruit in my case.

If you go for a couple…read moreof sessions and realize that the counselor is not the right fit you don't get money back. The employees will push you into buying more services than you want or need and refuse to refund anything in the event that the services aren't working for you. I paid an egregious amount of money upfront. Be warned, any service that promises a one-size-fits all approach and demands money upfront is generally not concerned about your satisfaction. When I diplomatically asserted valid complaints to the "counselor" he used emotionally manipulative tactics like denying my experience. For example, in response to my valid concerns, he said that in all his 30 years he has never received a complaint. So that must mean I don't have a valid complaint, right? This man is clearly not a professionally trained counselor. He constantly dismisses, interrupts, and contradicts proven facts. In terms of his constant dismissal and interrupting. There is a professional code of ethics for all people that call themselves counselors and it involves treating people with respect, especially if they are in the vulnerable position of looking for a job. He does not abide by this. I felt completely demoralized every time he talked to the man. I honestly and diplomatically told him that we were not a good fit. Did he listen to my concerns? No. He pretty much told me everything was my fault, I wasn't doing my assignments (I was, in fact, I spent countless hours re-doing my own resume after the resume service he provided blatantly ignored my feedback.) Instead, he told me that he wasn't going to refund my money for the services he didn't provide (I was only asking for a partial refund for the tasks we hadn't gone over yet) because he didn't want to see me give up on myself. So, instead, out of the strength of his character, he is choosing to keep the money he didn't work for from an unsatisfied customer (who, in his mind, is unsatisfied because of their own shortcomings) who no longer wants or needs his services because he doesn't want to see me give up on myself. How noble. In terms of contradicting proven facts, he told me that data analytics professionals don't need to know code. This was in response to my question about spending less time practicing a silly branding statement in the mirror for hours each week and maybe spending more time on my Github account and developing coding skills. I know for a fact after networking with several people in the field and taking a 6-month class, that anyone currently entering the field needs at least a basic mastery of some coding languages. In tech, they don't care how you "sell yourself" with a branding statement. They want your portfolio. But it's Rex Rolph and he apparently knows everything and you, the lowly customer, know absolutely nothing. He also told me to forget about combing human resources and data because they have automatic resume scanners and that kind of thing isn't used in today's environment. However, I happen to know from my own research that People Data Analytics, is a growing field, as well as human factors engineering. In fact, I had sent him several job announcements as an example of this growing field as I was doing the tasks that I supposedly never completed. He constantly promotes the idea that if you are able to sell your "competencies" then you can transfer into any job you want with enough networking. Bad advice for someone wanting to enter the tech career field. You can introduce yourself as "analytical" to as many people as you want, but if you can't show that you have the skills, it doesn't matter. I paid for a resume write-up. The person that did the resume (contracted through Rex) actually said they didn't change the words but just redid some of the formattings. I had to spend numerous hours of my time researching data analyst job descriptions in order to translate them into bullet statements. I compiled all this information into an excel document and gave it to the resume writer to request a revision that my resume be more data analyst specific. The resume writer blatantly ignored my request and I had to rewrite my own resume myself. Again, in Rex's mind, this is my fault and not his and I am not eligible for a refund for a terrible resume service. Overall this may be a good service for someone who has skills easily transferable into the career they are getting into or for someone who is looking to get into a job that emphasizes soft skills. However, this man is entirely clueless and useless in providing helpful advice for those wanting to get into tech jobs. He also lacks knowledge about up and coming career fields. Also, much of the consumer advice out there recommend against paying money up front and I second this advice. Most honest counselors out there would have you pay as you go and would at least care that your resume didn't get the treatment it deserved.
