Hanna and Elle are outstanding florists and wonderful people to work with. My vision of flowers was was "pretty and lavender" and they took that and ran with it. My ceremony was originally meant to be outside but as the day got closer and the weather turned, Hanna made sure to be in touch with me and easily adjusted to doing the ceremony inside. Walking into the venue and seeing their work was incredible. The ceremony area was beautiful, the bud vases on the tables and along the mantels were so pretty and so perfect, me and my guests absolutely loved every detail. Hanna delivered the flowers to Beardslee, spent the afternoon setting up, and made sure to see me to give me and the bridesmaids our bouquets (which were STUNNING). From the initial consult all the way through to the wedding, she answered my questions, listened to my vision, and was all around amazing to work with. My mom is my source of all things gardening, and she told me to go to Story's. I looked up the website (which is great) to see what they had in stock. Under "fruiting plants" in nursery stock, I found what was basically a comprehensive list of all the fruit I could think of...so we just decided to head over and take our chances. When we arrived and walked around a bit, I realized that they actually HAVE pretty much everything on that comprehensive list, because this place is massive and awesome. I don't think I can possibly list all the things they've got, but I feel pretty confident saying that their selection is better than anything you might find in the surrounding area: Trees, shrubs, evergreens, bushes, perennials, herbs, succulents, conifers, flowers, vegetables, vines...you want plants, they've got the plants. They've also got all the garden supplies you need...plant food, fertilizer, seeds, pesticides, tools, a gorgeous selection of pots, and hooks, and garden gnomes, and more. I didn't know I needed netting to keep the birds from eating my blueberries, but they did, and they've got the netting you need. I should note that my mom frowns on netting your berries, as she believes we need to share with the birds...but she's just a much better person than I am.

Stuff you usually have to drive to Albany to find, or Amazon but the shipping makes that too expensive. They also usually have bulk stuff in piles, like compost, mulch, sand, etc so if you have your own way to haul it you can pick up a lot for cheap.

The 1st time was out of curiosity, as we had just arrived in town and were eating at the BBQ joint next door. We came in again to shop around between games and bought a cute baseball leather pendant necklace and an old school looking brown leather baseball for our son. We were encouraged to bring it back for free engraving. We came back and got 5 of the same balls engraved as coaches gift. After visiting a couple of bat companies in Cooperstown to have a trophy bat engraved, it dawned on me that the experience felt more personal at The Wood Bat Factory, so we went back and ordered our son's trophy bat there. I was even more impressed when they said to come back in a couple of hours to pick it up versus the next day pick ups given at the other places. Each time we came in, the staff was very welcoming and helpful. They even engraved a wooden ornament with our family name as a surprise gift to thank us for our business. If you're looking for excellent service and a more personal experience, this place is top notch.
