Parked up for free outside after 6pm, which is a winner, and the pizza guys were friendly on my entrance and more than helpful with picking different toppings. I went for 4 large pizzas- BBQ chicken, veggie, ham and pineapple and a spicy meat one, all with a kick of spice and hotness which was just what we wanted. I tried a 7 inch goats cheese and veg small pizza which was a great starter along with wedges and wings. The BBQ wings were tastier than those at a few specialised Wing places in Manchester! I am lucky enough to work just across the road from this delightful establishment and spend my hard-earned tips in there (far too) regularly. Their food is preposterously tasty; it's all freshly made and prepared as you order, they have a great selection of curries, pizzas, burgers, and sides, and if you step through their door more than once (though I have found myself battling with that door on occasion, it is quite the cantankerous entrance) they great you with a friendly smile and "hello again!" as though you've been eating there for years. Being a vegetarian I can only vouch for their veggie options, but they are tasty enough to have me going back there almost every other shift. As a self-confessed massive fan of chips and cheese, I find myself longing for Chilli's version more than any other. There is nothing spectacularly different about the chips or the cheese (they are just standard fries with mozzarella from what I can work out), but they are damn tasty. On a particularly lazy week recently where I simply could not be bothered to prepare a big one-pot dinner to take to work for each shift, I think I may have consumed Chilli's cheesy chips three times.... Considering I'm not normally a big take-away girl, that's good work, Chilli's! My carnivorous colleagues wax lyrical about the karahis and kebabs on offer for those who partake in meat-eating and I honest to goodness cannot remember the last shift when at least one person didn't look naughtily at the rest of us and ask the fateful question that causes us all to reach deep into our pockets: "Does anyone want anything from Chilli's?!". As if feeding us poor and hungry bar staff on our arduous club night shifts week in, week out wasn't enough reason for me to be more than a little bit in love with this place, the portions and prices are fantastic. The karahis are all priced between £4.90 and £5.50 and are huge! The pizzas are the tastiest I've had from anywhere, beating the living tastebuds out of Pizza Hut and Dominos, and as you may have picked up, I am quite the fan of their cheesy chips. They also have fabulous meal deals on offer at all times, including my personal favourite; they serve a personal pizza (7") with two toppings of your choice (pineapple and jalapeños tends to be my go-to combo) with chips and your choice of drink for £3.50. That winning taste-fest has seen me through many a long and difficult sold-out club night. I would love to give this haven of naughty foods a five star review but I have never had anything delivered from them, what with work being in such close proximity, so I am unsure if the impeccable service I am accustomed to transfers to this aspect of their business and I have unfortunately seen some not-so-positive reviews of their delivery on the tinterwebs. Although having said that, these negative reviews are not the majority by any means. As far as my experience goes, check Chilli's the hell out if you are on a night out in the Northern Quarter and get a bit peckish. They are open 7 days a week. Go on, treat yourself. But be warned, you may form a similar addiction to that of my colleagues and I. It's just so tasty!!

I've got to admit that a beef chow mein is definitely a guilty pleasure and after a busy couple of days it was my treat to sit on the couch and have this while watching a movie. Happiness was the closest one to me so I thought I'd go here so as it could be delivered quickly and to be honest it was here in the 40 mins they'd said it would take so that was cool. It's a minimum order of £9 for delivery and an extra 50p to pay on card and £1 to deliver so the costs start to stack up if you're just after a quick bite. The chow mein was perfectly nice, the vege side order ok too but unfortunately they didn't serve Chinese chips and I just got what was general rubbishy takeaway chips (I only ate half and binned the others) - it all came to £11 with delivery. Not bad and sorted me out but they probably won't be waiting by the phone when the next Michelin star awards are announced...

They serve some dim sum, rice and noodle dishes but the highlight is really in the special dishes, which you wouldn't normally find in a standard Chinese. I stopped by here at around 9:30pm on Friday 27th June and ordered a won ton noodles to go. Unfortunately, the won tons were really small, smaller than they used to be, and the skin was coming apart from the won ton. I also got food poisoning from eating this, so I won't be coming back now. This is a shame, as it was really good when it opened. I especially liked their soup noodle dishes and they used to do bitter melon with ribs :(

There's only a few tables to dine in but it's open till 9.30pm which is great. There are some (inadvertently) hilarious thank you letters from school children on the wall: my personal favourite says "Your beef batty is tasty." I tried a saltfish fritter for the first time which had a perfect mix of crispy batter and soft filling, would recommend it. The jerk chicken was very different from what I am used to at Buzzrocks. The sauce at Buzzrocks is very thick and in fact solidifies when you put it in the fridge (i.e. the secret to its deliciousness is that it's basically just fat). At Mama Flo's the sauce is thin liquid. It's got a good spicy favour but I miss the indulgent richness. Also although it's more expensive there was less chicken, it was a little dry and the rice and peas were a bit overcooked (fluffy). Unfortunately for me they were out of plaintain so I'll have to pop to try it and maybe sample one of the other dishes - at Buzzrocks I was never very adventurous about trying to the curry or fried chicken etc because the jerk sauce was so addictive but here I will keep sampling the full menu!
