I love when I get excited to write a review for a new restaurant I tried on vacation. This trip took me to St. Thomas, and being an island community, it also meant seafood, which I love and is hard to come by in Phoenix, AZ. The Fish Market sits on the beach at the bottom of the Elysian Hotel. While you can walk there, it's a long, winding road through the hotel grounds. While I want to say we were met with a warm island welcome, instead, we were met by a grouchy young lady who seemed less than happy to be working or enjoying her day. On a positive note, our waitress, Kieke, was delightful and sweet and a complete opposite from the hostess. As for the food, let me be honest when I say it was one of the top two seafood meals I've had in my life. I got the crab-stuffed grouper with broccolini and couscous. It was cooked perfectly and had a sauce that was delicious! At the end of the day, this was a great experience, and if you can get down to the restaurant (which is a hike), you will absolutely enjoy the meal and ask for Kieke and ignore the rude hostess. read more

We came to Caribbean Fish Market on a Sunday for brunch and it was such a great vibe overall. They offer bottomless Bloody Marys and mimosas, which is always a fun bonus for a relaxing brunch by the water. We ordered the ahi tuna nachos and the veggie egg white scramble. Both were really good; the nachos were super fresh and flavorful with a nice mix of textures, and the scramble was light but still filling with plenty of veggies. Definitely felt like a good, balanced brunch option. The service was great, friendly, attentive, and everything came out at a good pace. The only thing that wasn't my favorite was the Bloody Mary. It had a pretty strong horseradish kick, which just isn't my thing, but if you like that extra spice you'd probably enjoy it. Overall, great food, beautiful setting, and a solid brunch spot. My husband & I stayed at Elysian and we were hesitant to try Caribbean Fish Market after reading the mixed reviews but I am happy we decided to try it because we had a great experience. Both our meals were great & service was quick and super attentive. My husband had the stuffed lobster & I had the Seafood Hot Pot. The Calamari was also delicious. I was pleasantly surprised with our experience. We also hung out at the bar a couple nights since we stayed at Elysian. Nice clean bar and good company. read more

I loved the Beachfront dining experience and atmosphere of the restaurant. We sat outside and our waiter Jerry was incredible. Food and drinks were impressive. We ordered the Smashed Cucumber, Lamb Lollipops, Wedge Salad, Grilled Prawns and the Grouper. This restaurant is a must! Food is always good. My only complaint is for happy hour it says bar and courtyard area. But if you sit on the sofa's which one would consider to be the courtyard you can't partake of the happy hour menu. Especially when the bartender service this area! Always a nice vibe! Love the sofa area cozy for a date! Gives outside/inside feel without being bothered by the cats and birds. A little pricey but the flavor is worth it. $70lb for snapper. This restaurant is actually located on the B property of the resort we are start at. So we have come here a few times already. We have only sat in the bar area for dinner. They have a good Happy Hour from 5 pm to 7 pm. So for drinks we have gone there but stayed to enjoy dinner. Their menu is pretty good with plenty of options to choose from. From their appetizers to salads to main courses you simply can't go wrong!! The Ahi Tuna Nachos are amazing! The calamari is perfection. The Eggplant Frites as very tasty. Just know when they first come out they are HOT. Give them a few minutes to cool off. Main courses I have tried were the Everything Salmon. It was Devine and I would definitely order it again. The second dinner night we went I did the Pad Thai. Wow!! Was that delightful and so full of flavor. We will likely return at least once more before our trip is over and I have no doubt it will not disappoint!! Service is always amazing as well. I ate several meals at this restaurant because of its vicinity to the condo i stayed at. It is a bit pricey but the decent reviews are warranted. The service is always friendly even if it gets busy with over-served patrons in the bar (to be fair, most were probably self-over-served prior to arrival). The seafood is fantastic-fresh caught wahoo was my favorite but the grouper was also very tasty. The dining room and bar are open air but kept comfortable with shade and plenty of fans. They are open for dinner daily but also have a Sunday brunch. read more

This is really a jewel in St. Thomas. My wife and I had dinner the first night of our weeklong vacation and we were very pleased with the selections, service, and atmosphere. Caribbean Fish Market was our second dinner on St. Thomas this trip. It is a "resort restaurant" meaning it's in a resort, and open to the general public. All things considered, it was pretty good! Karla was our waitress, she did a great job! Attentive, responsive, but not intrusive. Thanks Karla! We had a cocktail and started with the calamari appetizer... great calamari until you reached the bottom of the dish were the sauce laden calamari was soggy. We tried a couple of salads next... the watermelon salad and the shrimp wedge. Both salads were good, but suffered from an over abundance of sauces. On the watermelon salad, too much of the raspberry puree; on the wedge salad, too much dressing. Recommend you ask for the dressings on the side. We both ordered fish entrees, the sea bass and the grouper. Both fish were delicious, but again, the polenta/rice on the bottom of the dished swallowed the entrees. Sometimes less is more! We had a glass of Pinot Grigio and the key like pie for dessert. Wine was good, the key lime pie was better... the highlight of the evening. Good experience at CFM, but with so many other offerings on the island, we likely won't be back. As a "resort restaurant" it's more geared to residents than visitors. read more

Tonight we went to the Caribbean fish market with a party of 8 people. We were all looking forward to it, and it ended up being one of the worst experiences. To name a few specifics: we never received our appetizers, brings the bread appetizer over after our meal, and then wondered why we were upset, a steak we ordered was not done correctly, no biggie, bring it to the waiters attention and then did not receive the meal until about 45 min later, everyone was finished with their dinner by then, it was my mothers birthday, which they never acknowledged, and then brought her a desert at the end of the dinner, without asking what she wanted and charged us for the desert we didn't order. I could honestly go on for things that went wrong throughout the night. And it was a whole night, because our dinner reservation was at 6:45pm and we didn't leave until 9pm. It was a long evening of unfortunate events, in which we chose the place to be an event to celebrate the biggest night of celebration of us all together on island. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant to anyone based off of costumer service alone. If a manager cannot understand or acknowledge that the experience we had was a problem, then I would at least like to let people know that this is how they treat their costumers, so you do not plan a special occasion there for your loved one. We had dinner twice and each time was excellent! The crab stuffed grouper was amazing, a large portion too, we also had the flash fried calamari which was tender and very lightly fried. The second night was a Paella special, loaded with shellfish, fish and saffron rice. I had the roasted chicken over mashed potatoes, very delicious! Our server, Kat, is an absolute gem! Da Ambassador.....one of the servers I have ever had. Was strong with his knowledge and opinion of the menu which is always appreciated. Ambiance was amazing as I sat 30 steps from the water overlooking the beach and bay. We ordered the whole red snapper and stuffed lobster. Both dishes were very good. Red snapper was in a ginger broth which was amazing. The fish alone was cooked very well but very light on seasoning, with the broth it was great! The lobster was over done but our server made it better by bringing a new lobster out. Overall a great experience and I'd love to have a chance to visit there again. read more

This was a family dinner with my sister and niece. The restaurant is pretty much on the beach so it has an excellent ambience. We started with some appetizers. My sister got the tacos, my niece the cauliflower, and I got the lamb chops. We enchanted food and each appetizer was . Next came our entrees. My niece had the wedge salad. She didn't really enjoy it because it was heavy on the dressing and she's not a fan of blue cheese. My sister has the squid ink pasta with shrimp. She gave it two thumbs up. As for me, I had the crab stuffed grouper. The crab was delicious and the grouper was cooked just right. I was not a big fan of the rice that it was served with, but the sweet drop peppers were a nice and surprising touch. We finished with a cheese cake which were icing on top of a delicious cake. The fish was cooked beautifully (still translucent in the center), but the crust outside felt a bit overworked. The noodles were actually the star of the dish with their immense flavor! The chilean sea bass (not pictured) was definitely the best meal of the table (I found myself with a bit of order envy). The octopus carpaccio appetizer appealed to me in terms of idea, but the execution unfortunately didn't feel like anything all that special. I found myself missing the octopus flavor. Overall, this restaurant is good & in a great location just steps from the beach, but I think there are more interesting options for better prices if you're visiting on vacation! Went twice, once for happy hour and once for Sunday breakfast (it's advertised as brunch. Just breakfast and early opening). It's located on the Elysian Worldmark property, has decent views of the property beach and nice restaurant. As with many places they were short staffed on Sunday with only 1 server and a hostess trying their best until more help arrived. Food was hot, yummy and fast! Very good food! Try the Bang Bang shrimp - 3x's 2 bite shrimp tacos perfectly seasoned and served in a wanton manner. The Tuna Nachos were delicious served with cut mango to balance out the flavors. The prices are fairly high- but the quality and portions are very good. We had the crab coated grouper and it was awesome. Served with a risotto that was perfectly creamy. We also had the Wahoo - it was good but slightly under cooked for some of our party. If medium rare fish scares you - don't get it. It was very tasty! Such an amazing restaurant, on the beach, cool breeze and upscale vibe. While this place is definitely not a cheap meal, I thought that ours was spectacular. It was a great first meal on island while staying at Elysian. We had a great server, tried several things and ended up leaving full and satisfied with the leftovers to boot. My all-time favorite thing was the Ahi Tuna Nachos, packed with super fresh Ahi Tuna, a great spicy topping, crunchy fried wontons and caviar topping. It was huge. We also had steak and a few other vegetarian appetizers. Our drinks were very good, too. I sat at the bar a few days later for a lunch and they were very accommodating as well. We came here with reservations for dinner as a party of six. Atmosphere: More high end type of atmosphere and environment. People are dressed well and the menu is mostly seafood as given the name Caribbean fish market. Service: service was excellent. The only thing I would like to mention is as soon as we were seated, we asked our waiter if we could have separate checks and were told no but we can have multiple payments for the same check which is basically the same thing. Came to find out that is because they charge a mandatory 20% gratuity for parties 5 or more... go figure. Drinks: I ordered a spicy Paloma which I ended up returning back because it was just not drinkable for me. The taste was so bitter it was not spicy at all I think it may have had too much grapefruit juice. Then I got a Coco rum punch which was much better. I would rate it a 2/5. I wouldn't say the drinks are made very well here. It should be a higher quality for drinks for such a fancy restaurant. Appetizers: started off with some crispy calamari which was not anything out of the ordinary. I was expecting a better quality calamari. Although the tamarind sauce that was used was amazing. Also we got lamb lollipops which were great and had a nice balsamic dressing. Main course: I got a Caribbean stuffed lobster. I have had my fair share of seafood and I have to say this was the absolute best lobster I have ever had! I don't know what these lobsters are eating but the large size of these lobsters is something else. They were almost the size of my forearm, thick and packed with meat. My friend got the surf and turf with steak. The stake was medium rare and so buttery when cut with a knife. Desserts: the desserts need a little work. They're just very basic. For example, the ice cream waffle sandwich was one was a literal waffle with a scoop of vanilla icecream. This was the only restaurant open on the resort when we arrived. No welcome given by the hostess or the server. Then the prices and portions were insane, who spends $32 on a kids meal!! Everyone got something different, from Korean wings, ahi tuna nachos, bang bang shrimp tacos, sea bass, red snapper, filet mignon and bacon pork chop. Everyone also left hungry. The food itself was good but not great especially for those prices. Our waiter never came to see how we were doing or if we needed anything else. Some of the best seafood I've ever had. While vacationing in St. Thomas we stopped here for dinner and it was amazing. First thing to note is the view - it's breathtaking. The restaurant itself has a sophisticated yet casual ambiance which is perfect for its beachfront location. We had the Ahi Tuna Nachos we're were amazing and were packed with tuna! Then for entrees we had the Sea Bass, Wahoo, and the Tuna Special. Everything was delicious.
