This is an amazing park that offers great trails that offer awesome glimpses of the wonder of…read morenature. I stopped here early in the morning before a day of business meetings in Ozark, Alabama and found this the perfect setting to walk and cleanse my soul and mind in preparation for the day. To walk through these woods and to stare out upon the lake, it is easy to forget that civilization is just up the road a ways, that you are mere minutes from the hustle and bustle if everyday life. Every time that I am up in Ozark, I try to find my way here. This park is one of the places that lingers within your soul long after you leave and makes you appreciate the sheer majesty of nature and of the gift of life.

Possibly the best $4 (per person) you will ever spend. We first went to the Blue hole spring near…read morethe caves, however the water was murky and brown with poor visibility. So I googled nearby springs and this recreation area came up. I was totally surprised to pull up and find that the water was super clear and blue. They have a pretty large swimming area with a diving board and slides. There is plenty of room to lay out and get sun. Also allow you to swim outside of the main area. The lifeguards were super friendly when I asked if I could swim outside the area and even told me where the underground cave was outside of the main area. Underneath the diving board is an entrance to another underwater cave. Be aware that there is a current in the main swimming area. We really enjoyed swimming/snorkeling in the area and seeing the underwater caves. It's a great value!!! I highly recommend hanging out here if you're in the area!!

OBVIOUSLY the previous reviews of this monument have been by those who do not understand the…read morehistorical significance of the monument and lack the intellectual capacity for such. I am reminded that I should not argue with them...as my father used to tell me, "Son, never argue with an idiot; he'll drag you down to his level and defeat you with experience." Therefore...I suggest you ignore those reviews that do nothing but belittle the experience. First - the boll weevil made its way into Texas in the early 1900's. By the 1920's it had already invaded ALL of the cotton growing areas in the USA - all the way up to Virginia. It totally devestated the crops in southern Alabama between 1914 and 1917. By 1919, when the monument was erected, Coffee Country (Enterprise) was heavy into peanuts. Ignorant historians (and revisionist historians) will try to make you think that the Boll Weevil Monument was erected because the people of Enterprise would not erect a statute to George Washington Carver because he has an African-American. Again - this is a revisionist historian point of view. I doubt the people of Enterprise were very interested in what was happening in Tuskegee while they were starving. And I SERIOUSLY doubt Carver showed up with peanuts in hand showing the people of Enterprise how to plant them... This historical inspiration of the Boll Weevil has been mentioned in many publications over the years. John Maxwell has written about this monument--as well as many other inspirational speakers and writers. Bottom line - if you DO NOT understand the historical significance of this monument, too bad. One day, maybe you will grow a brain and it will dawn on you! =)

I hope they're just in a transition period with their menu because.. what happened…read more The steak options just say "steak" and don't list what cut you're getting. I could have asked but assumed for $45 I'd get something better than a thin cut ribeye I'd expect from an Applebees for $20. Wine menu was the same, just says "house wine" and lists different grape varieties but nothing specific on the wine. One of the most generic menus I've ever seen and would expect a lot more from a place like this. I also thought the cups used to be glass but most of them were the plastic cups you get at a diner. They still had glass cups for more specialty drinks like wine and coffee but soda and water were in plastic. I was also pretty sure they used to have cloth napkins and those are gone too. I feel like this place is too expensive to skimp on little details like that. Staff is still great but they seemed really overwhelmed and we did also show up pretty late so I can't blame them for being gassed This place is beautiful, they had someone playing the piano and it was a really nice atmosphere, but like I said I hope they're just transitioning between menus and dishwater because this visit was super disappointing.
