In all fairness to Caring Podiatry, I feel I need to amend my previous review I was recommended to Caring Podiatry by a friend, I am a diabetic, who needs a a podiatrist to perform routine examinations on my feet, as well as trim my nails When I called the first time, I didn't remember the Dr's name, since they both start with 'S' I thought Dr Schmierer was the Dr who was recommended I made an appointment to see him, and apparently he has no knowledge in treating diabetics, he cut my toenails, and that was the entire visit Today, I saw Dr Shapero. The difference was night and day. He performed a very thorough examination on my feet as well as having the knowledge and patience to explain everything to me I highly recommend him. Nasty rude office staff. The attitudes that they have are unbelievable. Dr's should be made aware of how they talk to people. You may think that 1 person leaving practice because of them is no big deal, but when that person works in the medical field it will be a problem for you getting new patients or recommendations. read more

I would say the doctors here are fine, but the staff is completely useless. Each year Medicare provides a free pair of appropriate shoes to diabetic patients as part of our coverage. All it requires is that your podiatrist's office process the paperwork. Good luck with that at this office. Last year I started the process in March and it took until October, with constant nagging, to get the shoes. This year, it's November, and nothing - despite multiple calls to the office. Craig Shapero's office does not collect all the fees when you visit. There was apparently an additional $30 payment that had to be collected. His office, sent a couple of notices while I was out of the country and then turned it over to a collection agency. No calls, nothing. Was a pain to even repay it. Do NOT see this Doctor because of their very shady billing practices. read more

Dr. Shapero is an amazing doctor. I have had different foot issues for years and he always takes great care of me. He clearly explains my issues and answers all of my questions in a knowledgeable and professional manner. Dr Shapero and the staff are all friendly & caring people. They make you welcome in the office. Dr Shapero comes in late somedays and leaves early other days. He does this so he can visit patients at home with limited mobility so they have one less thing to worry about. He accommodates you if you need to change your appointment or if you come a little late. He listens to you, your concerns and your needs. Instead of just telling you only his views or his treatment plan. I've known him since 2007 when he came to a health fair at our 55 plus community. I told him my foot might be broken and he was going to have me follow him back to his office eventhough he was going to go to a family gathering. I told him I could wait till the next day and he came in early since he was booked for the day. Wow, almost ten years have gone by, like it was only yesterday. This place sucks and both providers I saw were terrible. Shapero is a liar when I went to him because his associate was incompetent, he told me call me any time even if its to talk. I feel I have a serious situation that I gave their office 4 months to treat. Still not treated properly, guess what happen when I called him. You would have thought I was calling the king. I sent an email Thursday, called on Friday and then again on Saturday, no return call. Ashley who was rude tried to pawn me off on yet another provider in the office. I advised her no thankyou and hung up. That Shapero called me and chastised me for disconnecting the call. He could care less about my foot. I am so done with these clowns. I have a lot of associates and friends who I will tell to go elsewhere. Never cared about me as a patient only tried to sell those crappy orthotics from day one. STAY AWAY. The only pleasant person I encountered was Maureen. Shapero has two faces. BTW I will be reporting his abusive behavior and his orthotic sales tactics to EVERY insurance carrier. The worst doctor ever. Saw him 6 times and he could not figure out what to do. Very indecisive and kept changing his mind on what was wrong with my foot even though he had x-rays and MRI reports right in front of him. `Did not seem very confident and never really listened., and was mostly arrogant. Not the kind of doctor you need when looking for help with foot problems. His idea of helping me was to give me poorly made orthotics that made my feet 100 times worse. Luckily I found a new Doctor that has since helped me greatly. The new doctor read the MRI reports and x-rays and recently did successful surgery to correct a hammer toe defect, scraped and cleaned out a lot of osteoarthritis, placed pins in 2 other toes and raised my plantar plate. All these things were right in front of doctor Shapero, and he missed them all. All the things he may not have known how to correct, since he did nothing. Not good at all. Caring Podiatry is the laughing stock of all podiatrists in my book. Feeling a lot better since I left this place. How can Dr Shapero be good when he did not see and treat and correct my foot problems like my new doctor did. Run fast and far from this place read more

Giving it a one because it forces me to. I went to the Monroe office 3 times. Because it is a routine visit. it was clear to me that Dr. Schmerer could not be bothered. The last time, I had to ask him to trim my toe nails and his response was "Oh you want me to cut your nails?" Yes. Unless a patient is a money maker for him, he clearly can't be bothered. read more

Saw Dr. Shapero based on reviews on RateMDs. I had a terrible experience with this doctor. First of all, I hated his demeanor. He was presumptuous. He assumed that I came to him because I didn't like my previous podiatrist. Not true. He also assumed that my previous injections didn't work. Also not true. I like doctors who are calm and thoughful. But Dr Shapero seemed high strung, agitated, and annoyed. You cannot disagree with this doctor. He told me I had flat feet. I do not. I have high arches and I overpronate. At no point to my feet become flat or do the insides of my arches touch the ground. But he has an agenda - orthotics. He was annoyed that I didn't want his custom orthotics (I've seen them, and they are way too hard.) He was annoyed when I told him that I don't like Orthaheel (the shoes that he sells in his office) because they made my feet very hot. He was annoyed when I told him that I can't wear closed shoes, because my feet get burning hot inside. I was hoping to find out what could be the cause of this. Instead I felt invalidated and scorned. Then came the injections. First of all, he didn't even disinfect the area of the injection. Second, he just stabbed my arch with the needle, straight down into my foot, resulting in the most awful pain I've ever experienced with an injection. I've had foot injections before, and they weren't painful. Also they were always done where the needle is inserted at an angle slowly, not plunged straight down. I was extremely upset by this. Then I find out that he ordered a prior authorization for custom orthotics from my insurance. I never approved this, nor did I agree to get fitted for custom. He didn't even show me what my options are or make it sound that it was even an option. He decided that it's what I need and I hardly get any say in this. Needless to say, I'll be looking elsewhere for my podiatry care. read more

The office staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. I had to change my appointment last minute, and Dr.Shapero was very nice to squeeze me into his busy day. During my visit, Dr.Shapero was very attentive and thorough when I told him about my foot discomfort. His recommendations were right on, and I'm already feeling better. I'll be seeing this doctor again for a follow up. I highly recommend Dr.Shapero at Caring Podiatry. read more

We just move into the area about two years ago and i did not know this place. Recently, i took my son there are couple times for ankle injuries and his foot Podiatric need. Ankle injury is gone. Lovely place and was able to secure appointments at my schedule. Dr and staffs are very pleasant. Office is also very clean. read more

Received my appt in two days.The office staff very nice and accommodating.Met the Dr took X-rays then treated me with a cortisone shot.Came back two weeks later for another shot .Pain is gone ,back to playing pickleballs. read more

Not a nice place to go. Front desk is very very rude. This Doctor will be out of business soon if he continues to engage rude employees. I had an appointment on August 1st at 8:30 AM and I went almost 30 minutes earlier, but I mistakenly took my health savings card instead of insurance card. I have the card copy both sides in my iPhone and in my email. I have mentioned to the lady, take this copy for now and and I will fax the other copy tomorrow after I go to office since I don't have a fax machine at home. She has refused for me to see the doctor since I don't have the insurance card with me. I tried to explain, butt no use. Since this is a foot doctor visit it's okay because this is not an emergency. What if it is something serious? Can't they send a bill to my home? what a bad experience. Not going to this doctor any more. read more
