There's a sandy strip of beach that even has a permanent ping pong table. We also saw people fishing as well as swans and ducks foraging for food. The park actually has a couple of large open & grassy areas where adults and children can play something sporty. There's even a Boule court. There's a kiosk with snacks, and I believe that boats can be rented at the harbor. It's beautifully landscaped with a bridge crossing over at a different part of the lake. It was a pedestrian bridge called Kantisteg that we saw as we were on the trail. I can see it being a great place to see the sunset or sunrise at the beginning or end of the day. It's a great place to walk & jog. It wasn't busy on the day we were there. I think the weather had a lot to do with that. It was still nice enough to get views of the lake, mountain range, and birds. It turned out to be a very relaxing walk before dinner & packing for our trip back home. I'm not sure I'd make a special trip to see it. It was worth it for us since we were staying at a hotel right around the corner. It's also close to the train station and ferry landings. Make the jaunt only if you have the time.

There is also a playground and a separate play area for kids to run about. Most everything is written in german so not really all that educational for older English speaking kids. There is an average restaurant onsite. The park is split by a road but there is a pedestrian bridge that connects both sides. The only negatives are getting there. If you drive, prepare to pay 10chf to park. If you take the train prepare to walk quite a ways before seeing any animals. If you take the S4 it is an additional 25 min walk from the stop to the park.

Floating downstream, walking back up, floating downstream, walking back up, floating downstream…read more.. and going for a Cervelat and and Apfelwein. Pretty awesome way to spend a summer afternoon, if you ask me. The swimming stretch is quick-flowing, often lifeguarded, and has several ladders; during nice days, expect to deal with people hanging out on the ladders, trying to decide if they want a dip or not. It's totally fair game to bypass them and jump in. (And if that's your style, there's a rope swing on the opposite shore). The playground has both water and dry sections for the 2-to-8 crowd; the climbing structures are all pretty small, so more adventurous kids may be happier swimming. The buildings in the center of the island have an outdoor restaurant, plus bathrooms and warm showers. In the middle of the island, there's a run-of-the-river hydro plant --- good if you like crashing water. More impressive falls are on the south-east corner. One thing to know ahead of time: The western third of the island is a de facto nude area, predominantly male and frequently gay. Everyone's pretty mellow, but it does make for a marked transition just past the powerplant.
