The ONLY nice thing I can say about this dingy hole in the wall shop is that their prices are somewhat reasonable, taking the fact that they are located in the expensive area of the Beaches (Toronto) into consideration, which isn't saying much. They are as RUDE as shop keepers come. I smile, say "hows your day", et., and I get a scowl in return. Not sometimes, ALWAYS. Please do NOT ever even contemplate buying flowers from this shop! If a $24 Orchid mysteriously dies within 3 days on you - it absolutely must be your fault! (mine generally last longer than a mont) Forget about getting your money back or a replacement. It may even be suggested to you that you have picked the flowers and buds off on purpose? In other words - you are insane! Your home is too hot? You don't have a receipt because they are not in habit of giving out receipts. You may get one if you unequivocally demand one. If dare suggest that there may have been something wrong with the Orchid (or probably anything they sell), you may just find yourself banned from this place and the lovely accommodating people who work here. LEGENDARY MARKET, come here NOW. i love this market because of how tasty and succulent the produce is, it is delicious and succulent because of all the flavors and succulency. the service was EXTRAORDINARY, all my needs and questions were met, they did not discriminate on me for being a furry femboy who came IN COSTUME. they simply do not view some customers over others. the store was clean and smelt like succulent produce and cherry seed roses. the store made me so happy i almost soiled my 3000 dollar fursuit. the store owners liked me and decided to pay for all my food ( which only costed them 15 bucks for the 7 pounds of broccoli and cabbage that i bought). read more

I love this palce. In a sea of convenience markets littered along Bloor, they tend to blur together. But not Carload. It's the best. The produce is always quality. Some of these stores like to hide the crappy parts of produce by strategically packaging it bad/bruised side down. Never here. Always fresh. Store is clean. Has a little bit of everything. Prices similar to the nearby grocery store despite the fact this is more of a convenience store type of place. Cashiers always helpful, polite, and FAST. They bag things correctly, taking care of the items, especially the berries. Have cute houseplants in the back. I stop here often after work for a quick item or two I need to pick up. We buy our berries and avocados exclusively from here. Best quality. Not all markets are created equal. Carload is exemplary. read more

Carload is my local go to green grocers with great fruit and vegetables. The reason for my less than stellar review is the nightmare that I was subjected to when I recently purchased an order with debit. They overcharged me by over $100 and despite multiple fumbling attempts, they were unable to refund my debit card. This is sub-standard service and totally unacceptable. The original cashier said she didn't know how to do a refund, and called another cashier and finally a manager, but none of them could do it. When the system rejected the refund on the third attempt, I pointed out to the manager that it is likely that when they set up their account, they cheaped out and purchased a low-end system that did not allow for customer refunds. While they did give me a refund in cash, that is not what I wanted. This is a pandemic and everybody is paying electronically. It was your mistake Carload so it was up to you to give me a refund by the same method that I paid. This is 2022 and we are in the middle of a pandemic. Carload you need to smarten up, and upgrade your system so that you deliver a professional level of service. read more

I am loving Carload Fruit Market! Fresh Fresh Fresh and Cheap Cheap Cheap. It's basically the only place I get my fruits and veggies at since moving into the 'hood. First off, the onions are the freshest I've ever bought in my life! For 99 cents a bag, they're fresher AND cheaper than any onions you'd find even at No Frills. Same with the garlic and ginger. Like Kat mentioned, they carry their own romaine, spring mix, spinach and arugula which I've really become a fan of. I find the prepackaged stuff you get at other stores tastes really chemically; like the plastic it's stored in. Not here. For $5 you can mix and match 2 boxes that usually yields a weeks worth of salads for the BF and I. I find the slight markup on these kinds of items are worth it for the convenience. BUT-- the main reason I've made this my #1 produce stop is for the Kitty who hangs out outside the store like she owns the place. She has such a tiny head for her body and she is SO CUTE. So gentle and content. Purely worth visiting for her. read more

There are two or three other little grocery stores closer to my place, but I always walk a little further to get to Carload. They've got a better organic selection, cheaper prices, fresher produce, and a bigger selection of flowers. Oh, and they accept debit and credit cards, which saves me a trip to the bank. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best choice for produce if you live in Bloor West Village. read more

Carload is primarily a fruit & veggie place, but they also have a small selection of basic groceries (milk, etc.) near the front of the store, and a little closed-off flower room in the back. It's about an average size for this kind of store, and has the obligatory baskets of food out front on the sidewalk, too. Some even spills over in front of the Bank of Montreal next door. Carload's size and focus on diversification means that the overall selection of produce isn't the best in the neighbourhood, and the prices, while not exorbitant, aren't the lowest either. Still, if you've got business on the block, and need some fruit, there's no reason not to give them a look. read more

They are particularly strong on produce from Ontario, often selling good Ontario produce when supermarkets are bringing stuff in from other countries at a higher price. Like many of the other reviewers, I find Carload has the freshest produce in Bloor West. You can find cheaper produce on Bloor, but you won't be able to find better quality. I stock up on fresh berries, lettuce, herbs and flowers on a weekly basis. Even during COVID lockdown, the variety has stayed relatively high and the quality has not dropped at all. I also appreciate that I'm able to pick up pantry staples like seasonings and flour if I don't feel like going to the grocery store. read more

I agree with the other reviewers - this is a much better fruit market than most of the small shops in Bloor West Village. It looks kind of run-down from the outside, but it's surprisingly nice and quite big inside. Not only do they have a lot of fresh produce (great prices too), but they also have a lot of organic, vegetarian/vegan specialty items.The front section also has fair-trade chocolate and containers of specialty candy/nuts/salty snacks.
