The works of several artists around the world is beyond fascinating and eternal. Their artistry unfolds in just a moment of time and surrenders to the ocean. Like many great artists, the work is not for material gain, but rather for the cathartic experience to them and the audience that embraces it. We suggest arriving South Padre Island in advance to settle in before the live art exhibition begins. It's a fascinating process to watch the work evolve over a handful of days. Best time to take photos is the last day, early in the morning around 9AM before the mass crowds arrive. Parking is ample at Clayton's so long as you arrive early. I had just completed a few paintings of my own and was pleasantly surprised to find this exhibition complete my thought processes and personal journey.

They don't seem to have a permanent collection of art but…read morethey do have these three really cool old houses that are furnished and you can walk around in, definitely worth the trip over. The admission is totally free they do except donations. Currently they have an exhibit of quilts from The national quilt Museum. It seems that they are quilts that were put into a contest and it's all of the finalists and the winners. They're beautiful works of art and you should check them out. This little museum is very quaint, everyone's very friendly and I highly recommend it.

This is my experience from staying at Llano Grande Resort for the last 3 years. The property is…read morebeautiful. HOWEVER, the management is not up-to-par and the cost is double in comparison to other parks in the area. The cost break down is above average. For example, the lot rent in the Rio Grande Valley is $351.00 (on average); the lot rent at Llano Grande is $642.00 (that was my recent quoted price on November 11th) and it increases every year by $50.00 to $55.00. This is for homes purchased at Llano. If you purchase in areas they own, you'll will have to pay a monthly lot rent, PLUS an amenity fee to use the pools, gym, etc. The management office is very friendly but not organized and minimal professional park management experience. There is a constant fire drill mentality and the structural issues have not been address professionally. There's always a water outage due to old water pipes, the internet is always out. The pools are never at 100%; and there is an ongoing DRAMA vibe between the residents and management. The events are not organized and/or provide good entertainment. For example, they will charge you $5.00 for a bucket of ice (this is the management mentality) There is no restaurant onsite. The park was recently purchased by BoaVida. Look them up to see their history on how they treat the residents at other parks! They have several ongoing lawsuits filed by residents of parks they have purchased over the last several years. You can find those on the internet as well. More concerning is that what you are told in the office about pricing is not accurate; so expect changes from the first conversation you have regarding a property. Additionally, the new management is extremely authoritarian, ie, you have to get permission to have visitors and decisions are made in an autocratic manner with absolutely no notice to the residents. They have forgotten that they have important stakeholders that live on the property and never consider the affects of their decisions on the people that live at Llano Grande. You can find better, less expensive with less chaos and drama.

This was our second time attending the Festival. We arrived early in the morning before they opened…read morethe gate so parking wasn't TOO bad. But I can't imagine what someone arriving around noon would find. Anyway, there were about 16 food booths selling some delicious shrimp concoctions. Of not, some prices are creeping upward as I saw prices of $6 or $7 at some but for the most part, $5 seemed the usual price point. I tried three varieties and enjoyed them. I also tasted one the wife chose which was ok too. There were three or four beverage booths and a few "other" foods like tacos, some sort of potato curls and my wife's five - the funnel cake booth which was the highest price I saw. A funnel cake with berries and whipped cream was $12! She felt it was worth the price so...... my biggest complaint is how tightly packed the tent really is crammed with tables and chairs. There was hardly room to walk between the tables. The music(?) in the tent without the live band was some weird choice and kept popping the breaker, which was actually a relief. We got a few moments of refreshing silence with only the music from the live band, at a comfortable level, plying in the background so we could enjoy a nice conversation. So... suggestions: add more covered seating with better spacing between the tables AND not playing music in one or two of those seating areas for those of us that would like to talk rather than have our conversation drowned out by too loud of music.

This is an annual event for our local Port Isabel community. Idea is great. Just wish we had more…read moreparticipants and more offerings. I mean, who doesn't like shrimp?! We've been a couple of years. Love the live band and the variety of shrimp. This year there were probably 20 booths or so but only half offered shrimp. Others had desserts, turkey legs, misc items so the plus is that there is a variety. The downside is it has so much untapped potential. It was supposed to be on until 6 but some were tearing down by 4. Not good for the overall warm and fuzzy feel you are looking for. The shrimp offerings are $3 or $4 each which is okay for the small bites offered. They charge $5 to get in and that gets you the free band and kids bouncy houses. Thankfully they do have tables and chairs under a big tent. This helps keep you cooler but they put them awfully close together that sometimes it's a maze to find a seat. Nice little dance area up by the band.

I went to U.M.E. last year. It's an annual spring break event, held during Texas week (the week…read morethat Texas universities have spring break). They basically have a ton of EDM people come out and a big mainstream DJ headliners each day. It's pretty cheap compared to similar festivals around the country, tons of young ppl attend, and it's really fun. I would've gone again this year, but I was pretty disappointed by how repetitive the line-up was. Oh, that's another thing, the price is probably lower because the line-up is limited compared to similar festivals. Anyway, if you're college aged and looking for a night of debauchery and a chance to mingle with strangers, then this is the place for you. It really is a lot of fun. Headliners don't usually go on until after midnight, but the line on the bridge to cross over to SPI and traffic along the roads in that area in general are crazy, so you might wanna aim for being there by midnight. Also, on one night, the bouncer/security dudes randomly asked me if I wanted to check out the VIP area and totally let me walk up and enjoy the show from there for free. I think being a girl helped, even though I wasn't even dressed skanky. Crazy, huh? Haha But seriously, whoever you security guys are, I am forever grateful! Thanks!!!

Pre-party - Steve Aoki and Chainsmokers First night - David Guetta and Showtek Second - Hardwell and W&W Third - Tiesto and DVBBS Seriously, don't go if you can't handle a bunch of 18-20 year olds. They made me feel old. But, I got VIP and stayed away from all of them. My only complaint with VIP were the lines for the bathroom. Awful no matter where I went. But it was nice to have a separate viewing area. I haven't been to too many EDM shows, but I think I'll be back for this one.
