Boyfriend tried to show me how to change my oil on a Ford Explorer, and accidentally emptied some transmission fluid. He realized it immediately so I did not drive it and had it towed to Carl's. Not easy to find. It's a residential lot and a weird looking parking lot. Brought the car in at 9:30am, he did not tell me when it would be ready. Called at 4:30pm with the car. I pulled in and he showed me my transmission fluid and told me my transmission was failing in 1st and 2nd gear and it would be $3,000 to replace it. Told me that he didn't think it would drive home. I didn't have the money immediately (SO glad I didn't), so I paid to have the transmission refilled and went home to panic. Made an appt with a transmission shop in Portland, whom flipped and ran all diagnostics on the transmission and couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission and said it was running great for how high of mileage it is. SAVE YOUR MONEY DONT GO THERE first off let me tell you that we make our money by landscaping so our truck is everything were just starting and our a small bussiness in december we had a whole new tune new distrubutor cap new coil new plugs mind you there high performance plugs so we just wanted to get a new carborator built so we took it there trusting in him to tell us that the whole thing needed done ok thats fine but then he said our plug that was new was melted to the manifold and so he taped it he charged me 25.00 for the tape ok so i said ok then we drove off the truck wouldnt hardly go ten miles an hour it stated backfifring mind you wwe drove an hour an a half to get there our truck was driving great but just slugging a little when changing gears bok but now after all day of him looking to see what was wrong it was worse when we left so i called him back he said ok bring it back we must have put plugs back wrong so ok we went back he put more tape on it and what do you know plugs were wrong so we leave again well truck isnt back firing but still wont go up a hill and barley driving the speed limit of 35 mind you we were able to go 80 before so we make it home 3 hours later we decided to take the tape and look closer he cut the plug it wasnt melted at all if i could post the picture i woul ill figure out wre i can and i will but anyway so from there we had to buy new whole set plugs for one plug then we had looked closer he took our new distributor cap off and put a old one on and that cracked our coil so it then costs 491.00 which wqe dont have the money yet to fix and thats just to fix it back the way it was when i took it to his shop not including the real problem why i took it there so save your wallet and your car dont go there trust me please read more
