About once a year or so I go to CJ in hopes they have improved since the last time I went. Welllll........not so much. They no longer have the Super Star and the closest is the Famous Star. You can get single double or triple patties. I got the double combo to the tune of almost $19. Yes folks I typed $19. Now if it had been outstanding I may not have minded but no. The burger "patties " were thinner than pancakes and had a weird after taste like maybe some kind if flavoring. Not appetizing but I ate it because yes I spent $19. Not exactly the lunch of my dreams. I think places like CJ, BK, and McD have run their courses for me. There are better places out there. The employees working there are very kind professional and friendly. The reason for this review is to let Carl's JR. know that their new temporary sandwich called 'Sourdough Star' which looks delicious on their website ads. Looks almost like Jack In Box Sourdough Jack, great burger. BUT Big difference, Carl's Jr. Sourdough Star circular sourdough bun which looked crunchy and toasted was soft and squishy almost like it had been steamed full of moisture. I could not bite into it without wet sourdough bread slid off the burger Patty. My hands got all sloppy and goo fromthe condiments now indistinguishable from the circular sourdough bread. Sorry guys but it's no where near as good as it looks. That sourdough circular bread must be toasted not steamed or microwaved or even warmed up in steam or microwave. Destroys the entire sandwich. I went through the drive-through, and I usually love Carl's Jr.. Today however the meal was very disappointing. The service was good the drive up window representative was friendly and the food came quickly. What made it subpar was everything was cold, I know that there are certain food standards in the industry and I know that the temperatures did not meet or exceed those standards. The french fries were still in old and it was a complete disappointment all the way around. It's the only store in town so I guess I'm stuck if I wanna come here again. This place is mostly terrible. This is not our first odd experience. We wanted beyond meat burgers. We ordered them, paid for them, and waited... a while. The worker first apologized for the long wait saying because they were "cleaning the machine" it would be a while. A while later she said they couldn't figure out how to "turn the machine on" so they couldn't cook our food. She offered that we order something else. We're vegetarian so, no. She refunded our money. First world problems, I know. But we were hungry enough to go all the way to Carl's Jr and to not have our food after all that wait and the drive there was pretty frustrating. Weird that a "restaurant" has "machines" to cook the food that the employees can't figure out how to turn on. It worked, but pea- brained me quickly forgot what was on sale, so I literally had to go back outside and look at the sign. That's annoying. Got the California classic, which was good. This was neither mayo, dressing, or what a hamburger should taste like. I did not get the touted charbroiled flavor at all. The iceberg lettuce also amazing looking, hand torn without cut marks, brown or limp edges. Paper thin slices of tomatoes that were more of a visual. Obscenely thick slabs of beautiful white onions that competed with the white savory gruel with a raw burning bite that made me fight for any pleasure from this burger. While placing my order for the Double Bacon Burger that was being featured I was very clear that I was allergic to tomatoes and said no tomatoes, ketchup, or special sauce. She checked on the special sauce and said it did have tomato in it so I asked for mayo instead. I got home which is about 1/2 hour drive from the restaurant, not very close or I would have just gone back and found that my burger not only looked like something I could have bought frozen and thrown into a microwave, but it had the sauce with tomatoes. This was the second time I have had issues with this location and I have to say I am upset, especially now since I called and talked to a staff member (did not get her name, but I'm assuming it was the person who took my order because she said I don't know why they did that after I told them not to) I explained that I was very clear about my allergy and that the receipt shows no tomato, no special sauce and that the staff needs to be more careful because they could make someone very sick or even kill them. This is where she hung up on me! I am now out money, have no dinner and I have been treated extremely rude by one of the employees. This was one of the worst experience I have ever had here at Carl's Jr. in Mount Vernon Washington. The fact that this is the only location in the north side of Washington the service was very very slow and it took me 20 minutes in line to just make my order. The people before me even mention how slow the service was and the employee all he could say was" yeah but our hamburgers are great". In the kitchen the floor was so bad and dirty that a army of people could have had a great meal. There was no urgency with any of the employees to move faster and even more disturbing the manager came up in the middle of the chaos and ordered her food and did not mention anything about moving faster. Generally we don't have issues with Carl's. jr. the food is good as far as fast food goes and the staff are usually friendly. But. Last night the guy in the drive thru window did not want to be at work. He was moaning and groaning and ugh dude. Shoved the drinks out the window with little ice and about and an inch shy of being full. Didn't mark the drinks so we had to "figure it out". This place is just awful! The girl who rang me up short changed me and didn't give me a receipt . My food was late, when they finally arrived with my food they drooped the fires on the floor. They told me they would get me new ones which they never brought. My sister had to go up to get them. I took one bite out of my burger and found hair all over the sandwich and had to pull some out of my mouth. I felt violated by the experience.
