First and foremost Gabe at Aloha Solar was the ONLY one where it didn't feel sales pitchy. He went to college for this, believe he grew up off grid on Maui and you can tell right away he's knowledgeable and a straight shooter. Not to mention he had the best pricing and deal out of every other company! Gabe made us feel comfortable with our decision, gave us all the information we wanted, and actually drove out to our house multiple times to chat when we had additional questions and concerns. Is Aloha a smaller company, yes, but will Gabe answer your call when needed, yes! Fast forward install happened within a couple weeks of signing the deal. Minas was the head installer it seemed (all people are internal employees with Aloha and work is NOT contracted out, that was a big seller for us), and two other guys Rigo and Matt. All were super nice and very professional. Minas walked me through everything at the end, and major bonus points once he installed the piping going from battery to roof, he asked if I had paint that matched the exterior of my house. I did, and he then painted all of the piping! I know he did not have to do that, so that was a fantastic touch. If you're thinking about solar, trust me, I did the research and I spoke to all of the sales people. GO WITH ALOHA! You will NOT be disappointed. Thanks to Gabe and the team!

Not only did they give me the best overall quote with the most panels included, but they were also the only company that didn't pressure me, oversell me, or make the process confusing. Communication was easy, quick, and honest from day one. We upgraded our Main Panel from 100A to 200A, installed 16 solar panels, and added a Tesla Powerwall 3. Seth handled everything behind the scenes--SDG&E coordination, permitting, scheduling, inspections--so it was completely hands-off for us. What really impressed me were the details most companies gloss over. They color-matched the stucco perfectly after the MPU work, brought in roofers to double-check the weatherhead and flashing, and kept us updated constantly. Every step felt clean, professional, and organized. You can tell they take pride in doing things the right way, not just the fast way. From start to finish, the entire experience was smooth, transparent, and top-notch. Review Update: After…read moremy initial review, Eric (the sales rep) and Matt (the owner) of Sunline personally reached out to me and was apologetic about the situation. They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. As an engineer, and after witnessing the symptoms and corrective actions firsthand, I believe the breaker issue was likely a manufacturing defect, and it was unfortunate that it occurred during the holidays. That said, based on how Sunline handled the situation, the overall quality of their work, and the value they offer, I would recommend them and plan to continue using them for future needs.

It was seamless and "almost" right on the projected time frames. Through the process they kept me up to date and were available for a few questions I had along the way. The installation crew came out and they were EVEN better than the customer service and sales rep. Eduardo Naranjo needs a promotion and a raise. The man was so humble, genuine and all around a great guy. He dealt with my kids and many dogs with no fear lol. He was professional and kept me apprised of everything the crew was doing. At then end of the installation I was sad to see the man and his team go because they were so personable and efficient. The install of my panels and batteries looks way way better than I could have imagined. I already had existing solar that I liked. But this new system blows it out the water. Anyway. After months of follow-ups, delays, and waiting for management to finalize the paperwork, I was suddenly informed that the company had implemented a "new process" requiring a non-refundable $1,000 payment before they would process the application, engineering review, or other preliminary work.

Recently we had a "leak" in what we thought was the HVAC system. Tyzell Gaines came out and diagnosed the issue within seconds of seeing the problem. He advised we needed a plumber and explained what had happened. He did not charge us for the visit - a very professional employee who went above and beyond to help us out. We would definitely recommend Baker Home Energy and will continue to use them for all our future needs.

Our single family home in Carlsbad was in need of a new roof and we decided it was time to get modern with solar and some window & door replacements. Through our bidding process, RC Energy came out the lowest and Justin was cordial and honest about the entire process and costs upfront. We knew this was going to be a big project and Justin explained the entire process. Our work included: full re-roof (tear-off, new underlayment, new concrete tiles, wood repair, full fascia board replacement & painting, 18 PV solar panel array + electrical/RMA, new sliding glass door, three kitchen windows and two new solar-powered skylights in our living room. There was a big chunk of extra cost for roof wood repairs we knew was coming (dry rot and previous termite damage to sheathing & rafter tails) but the costs were understandable given the hours of extra labor, and the quality of carpentry work spearheaded by Ivan was exceptional. Nice windows and doors from Amerimax combined with the new roof tiles and fascia has really given our home a modernized curb appeal and the new skylights have changed the entire feel of our dark living room. Solar went live in May/June and boy is it nice to see our bills reduced next to nothing, especially with our EV charging and AC unit. Justin's communication was great, keeping us updated in advance of each major step in the project. Total project work time was 2/3 weeks and we are more than satisfied with the outcome. Starting with workers made wrong several holes on our roof and said no worries, said no Leaks for sure! A week after the rain, water leaked through hole in my bedroom and living room! We emailed the company and no response but finally emailed the CEO, got quick response and worker came right away to fix with an upset mood! I noticed they were so rough and not gentle at all during the time they worked on the roof. Maybe it had to be that way but I noticed that and worried. Next, workers came to continue work and 1-2 weeks after of rain, there are water leaks through my roof and my wall! I suggest you choose the company that your family or friends or neighbors used before. I'm so disappointed with the workers from this company because it caused us long term damage to fix the wall now and we moved to this house a year ago with no issues until they came to settle the solar panel. Really disappointed:(

Tyler, Patrick and Mike arrived right on time and immediately began preparing the space with floor protection and plastic sheeting to contain any dust or debris. As someone who works from home, I also appreciated how quiet they were throughout the process. They provided progress updates with photos along the way, and the results were impressive--everything looked clean and well-finished. Tyler also shared images showing that they had corrected and properly sealed ductwork that had previously been patched with duct tape by another company. Earlier this year I decided to make the move and look into having solar panels installed on my home. My electric bill had been increasing and within 9 months my bill went from the mid $50 per month to over $150 per month. I had my uncle staying with me and together we started researching everything there is to know about solar. He is a retired electrical engineer and had a lot of free time on his hands. My uncle knows all there is to know about anything that has to do with electricity and how it works. He asked questions to all the companies we looked at that your everyday lay person wouldn't know to ask. We selected 5 different solar companies to review. He took on this research project for me and he did a very thorough review. We selected 2 local companies, 2 large well know companies and a mid market company. Justin Fox with Carlsbad Solar was the first company we contacted. Justin was very knowledgeable and gave us a very detailed review of his products. He came out to meet with us on a Sunday afternoon and even before we spoke with any other solar company, I know I wanted Carlsbad Solar to install my panels. I was looking for a local owner owned company that did all the work themselves. I didn't want a company that hired a third party to do all the work. We looked at cost, warranties, type of system, products used and the productivity. Both my uncle and I came to the same conclusion and Carlsbad Solar rated at the top in all the categories. Justin is a very down to earth person, great business and family man. His products are all made in the USA with was important to me. He answered all our questions and even invited me to his house to check out his system and explain how everything works before I made the final decision. He took care of all the permits and getting me set up with SDG&E. All work was done in a timely manner and was very seamless for me. I went to work in the morning and by the end of the day everything was installed to perfection. My panels are completely black and blend in with my existing roof. They really don't standout and you need to really look to notice that they are on my roof. They are not like others in my neighborhood that are very noticeable and an eye sore. Being that Justin lives locally he is very easy to get ahold of a has dropped by whenever I had questions about my system. He just has a great personality and is passionate about his work. I was compelled to join Yelp so that I could provide a review of Carlsbad Solar. When I started shopping for a system, I contacted the top-rated San Diego County Solar companies (including Carlsbad Solar) on Yelp to obtain quotes. I was impressed with them all, but Carlsbad Solar stood out. I was visited by Justin Fox, the Owner-Operator of the company. Like all of the (top-rated) companies I contacted, Justin took care to suggest a solar system based on my usage over the past 12 months. However, he stood out in his combination of technical knowledge and personal accountability. He explained that, while it's important to install an efficient, durable solar system, it's critically important to do so in a way that preserves the soundness and aesthetic value of the home. He explained that he's a third generation general contractor and that his father started the company several decades ago. I had high expectations after meeting with Justin, but being an Engineer by nature I did a great deal of follow up in order to make sure I made the best decision. Justin was incredibly patient and helpful in answering all of my questions. After selecting Carlsbad Solar, Justin and his team efficiently handled all aspects of the permitting, installation, inspection, and startup. Carlsbad Solar went to great lengths - far beyond my expectations - to perform the highest quality installation with the most unobtrusive conduit routing possible, all at a great value. They demonstrated impressive knowledge of all aspects of the installation (permitting, solar hardware, roofing, electrical, inspection, etc...). If you are looking for a quality solar installation company, one that will provide the best system available, install it meticulously, and follow up responsively, look no further. Carlsbad Solar is the answer. Believe me, you have found the company you are looking for. After contacting large companies that advertise heavily and dealing with sales people who sometimes bid on the project using Google earth without even coming to the house, I found Justin Fox and Carlsbad Solar. Justin is the owner. He is hands-on. He came out himself, climbed onto the roof, measured, and bid on the project. Where other companies proposed systems that were in the 90% range of my electric usage, Justin developed one that would cover over 100%. Everything about Carlsbad Solar is top notch, from the personnel, the vehicles, the installation, and the equipment. Justin was on site during the installation, which took place in late November, 2019. Justin is a man of integrity. He is the consummate professional. He is a knowledgeable, articulate, reliable, honorable, straight-shooter. Whenever I have had questions about the system, which was installed in November 2019 and has thus far worked flawlessly, he has been quick to respond. I mean it. We initially learned of Carlsbad Solar here on Yelp and their all 5 star reviews, we ended up choosing them after looking into SunRun (Costco) and Baker Electric Solar, and Sullivan Solar Power. Each company was qualified but we weren't looking just for qualified. We were looking for quality components, longevity in business, and honesty, and in terms of the choices offered us for solar modules, the pricing, the attention to detail, and again, the other reviews, Justin's company became our only choice. We are out of town at our other home a lot, and finding a trustworthy company in town was a must. They even locked up for us when they finished! The best part I save for the last part of my review. While we were anticipating a long wait for permits and net metering approval, Justin's team surprised us with a completion and SDGE permission to turn on in one week from our signing the contract. Our neighbors signed with their company two months ago, were told the permit takes a couple months, and still don't even have an install date scheduled, so they were understandably irritated when I was completed so soon!!! We decided we needed solar and got three different quotes. Pete and Carlsbad Solar were the clear choice for expertise and value. We have an older house and adding to our electrical box was a big concern. Pete assured us that we could add a sub panel and get enough solar panels to meet our electricity needs. The other companies either offered a smaller system or suggested that we replace the electrical box at a cost of $7k. They recommended a Solaris panel and after researching the company we were impressed with the quality and value of these panels. We put the deposit down and were ready to go. Then, we decided that instead of fixing up our current house we will move in the next year. Pete and Carlsbad Solar were surprised to hear this but worked with us to adjust to the new situation. Although they incurred some costs, they gave us our deposit back and will help us with solar on our next home. Carlsbad Solar is a family-owned, local business, based in Carlsbad. They installed a solar system on our house in September and did a great job. They explained the process, gave us an estimate and met the estimate, showed up on time, and completed the project on time. They handled the paperwork and necessary permits. They have been professional and friendly throughout the process. They are very responsive when we have a question or possible problem. They monitor our system and make adjustments to improve performance. With these major storms, we had a leak in our roof. Carlsbad Solar persisted until they found and fixed the leak, in the rain! The leak was from an existing roof vent, not the solar installation but they fixed it anyway and didn't charge us. They also fixed our front door knob. :-) We are very happy that we chose them. Justin knows solar - the products, technology, industry, and how to work the financing. Everything he said lined up with what I had researched myself (definitely NOT the case with other companies). I cannot say enough good things about this company. From the initial quote on a Saturday, to the quick, professional install job, to the quality of the materials and the knowledge of his employees, to the speed of installation- all of this was fantastic and exceeded my wildest expectations. Justin was available almost immediately for any question we had, he took care of all the permits, financing, and other arrangements needed, and we were up and running inside of 2 weeks (the only reason it took that long is that we were slow getting some paperwork back to him- it would have been faster if we'd done our part on time). I called on a Monday morning for a quote and questions.Justin came out same afternoon we talked for a few, I wanted a experienced owner/operator and he was it. I signed that day. Waited the 3 days just in case I changed my mind. He started that Saturday. His brother(also a experienced solar installer) and Justin had the panels arrive on Wednesday and they finished Thursday. City inspector signed off Friday 10/02/15. Justin filled out all the paper work for SDGE and net metering. Today 10/09/15 I got the go ahead from SDGE to turn on system. Absolute professionals! Justin and his team were by far the best company when it came to solar knowledge and pricing. At no point did Justin or his team try to "sell" me anything. Most other bids I received it felt like I was dealing with a car salesman, but with Carlsbad Solar their initial bid was for the same if not better hardware at the best price. But not only was the price fair, the work was fantastic. From contract signature to running off the panels was less than 2 weeks. This includes processing the loan, getting the inspection and delaying a few days on my end before he could start. After interviewing 3 solar companies and not getting satisfactory answers we invited Carlsbad Solar to present their system. We wanted to be able to be independent from SDG&E if the need arose. Justin suggested a system using Sonnenbatterie . While doing research it's a system that costs more but the benefits outweighed that downside. I contacted Justin for a Solar quote. It was reasonable and he explained all our options. I needed enough to run my kilns and AC which we have not run because of the expense. He was able to calculate our needs and now we run with no bill which is awesome. He also installed a new box with a plug so if there is a blackout and in case of emergency we can still run our refrigerators off our solar during the day. We love our solar and have recommended Carlsbad SOlar to our friends. read more

Carlsbad Solar installed roof panels and Sonnen Batterie system some years ago. Last night September 12 2025 SDGE did a planned outage to replace a transformer. at 1012pm I heard ciick of the Sonnen and a brief flicker of the lights that were on. The change over so seamless that I didn't need to reset the microwave clock. My internet connection stayed on and the whole house had power. Thank you Carlsbad Solar for a great installation. I unfortunately need to echo the review of Jon, speaking to the excessive amount of time that has passed with zero progress in our install. We were approved for the SGIP program in the beginning of April 2021 - we selected Solar Watt for the project. It is now June of 2022 - we still have no batteries, no ETA, no guess for when we might have batteries..nothing. Throughout the 'project', we have been bounced from Tesla, to Fortress Power, to Darfon Solar, then back to Tesla - we basically said "we don't care who makes the batteries, we just want something installed". None have materialized. Towards the end of last year, we were told Q1 we should have the batteries - Q2 is wrapping up, and now we're being told "we don't know when we'll have the batteries." Throughout the process, I have been the driving force for updates. Solar Watt did not voluntarily provide any updates, which is part of the reason why this process has left such a bad impression on us - at least proactive communication would have been appreciated (although not as much as batteries). We have now switched the project to Baker Electric - a co-worker of mine was also approved in April of 2021 and had 4x Tesla batteries installed by them first week of June 2021. I understand supply issues, but after 14 months without batteries, and with hardly any updates, we cannot recommend Solar Watt and are glad to be using Baker Electric, who has our 2x Powerwalls in storage and expects to install in a matter of weeks.

Absolutely do not use this company!…read more I signed a contract with Cosmic Solar & Roofing to install Solar Panels on a ADU we are building. I gave an initial deposit and was told the next step would be to pull permits. What actually happened next was they came onto my property and installed solar panels on the ADU without ever contacting me, making an appointment, or getting any kind of approval. They never spoke to me once -- they just showed up and did the entire installation without my knowledge. It wasn't until they contacted me demanding full payment that we realized they had installed the Solar Panels. ( again this is on an ADU so I never even knew someone was on the property working) They have now demanded full payment and have filed a mechanic's lien against my home even though the system is not operational and the permit has not been signed off. I made numerous calls and emails to Pey and the owner Bahram Shadzi and did not receive any response. This behavior is outrageous. I have now filed a complaint with the Contractors State License Board. Stay far away from Cosmic Solar & Roofing.
