Terrible hotel, awesome people…read more
This hotel is cheap, and it shows. The first room we received had black mold growing on the back of the bathroom door. When we asked for another room, the reception didn't seem to find this unusual and gave us a second room. There were holes in the plaster of the walls, and some discoloration on the back of this room's bathroom door that may have been mold, but by this point we were tired and unwilling to put up with yet another room change. Both rooms we had had beautiful views of the city and beach. Housekeeping didn't clean the room the same way twice: one afternoon we discovered our sheets were all gone. Continental breakfast was plentiful, but the food, especially the fruit and butter, were very low quality. The restaurant had a strange chemical smell the entire time we were there, but is the only place to get a decent relatively cheap lunch in Iracema.
That being said:
The people here (other than the one guy at the desk our first night) are AWESOME. All the plugs in our room, and, in fact, throughout Fortaleza, are 220v. Being American, I plugged something 110v in and it didn't work. The desk guy that night called a friend of his, who brought his own personal portable transformer, and let us use it for the length of our stay. The restaurant staff were friendly and cheerful, and easily made recommendations based on our eating preferences.
If you just need a place to lay your head, this place is great. Don't expect too much of the establishment, but the service makes it more than one star.
