Before the fireworks show, there was a Celtic/Irish dance performance, and a group in kilts parading down the port playing the bagpipes. Lighted fairies took pictures with kids, and a BMX rider did tricks over a volunteer festival-goer. The fireworks show was a full 20 minutes and choreographed to Celtic music, sparkling right above the St. Lawrence River. Overall a fantastic evening. What's not to love?

There are two ways to get to Pierre-Dugua-De Mons Terrace. The first is to walk across Dufferin Terrace to the end of the wooden slide runs. The second is to walk up from Avenue Saint-Denis. Any photo you take at the terrace, no matter the season or the time of day, would be as pretty as a postcard. Go for a stroll along the walls of the Citadel located next to the terrace. One ticket gets you admission to all of the paid stages featuring 11 nights of music. No ticket is needed for admission to the free stage also featuring very good music. During FEQ the streets come alive in the early evening, with sponsor, vendor, food, and drink booths. Participating in any part of the FEQ experience pretty much makes it unnecessary to plan anything else for your evenings; it's literally where everyone is. When a couple evenings of music are canceled due to impending thunderstorms attendees leave in an orderly fashion understanding that their ticket will get them into all of the shows on another night and, well, what are you going to do about inclement weather? There are many different prices of admission to FEQ and what you pay dictates where you'll sit or stand during the shows. The artists - at least in 2023 - don't seem to be the biggest names in the business but many were well known (e.g. Foo Fighters, Green Day). In addition to the free stage a VIP pass got me into the Plains of Abraham stage one evening: 3 bands, huge screens, great sound, lots of fun. Festival tickets sell out but whether or not you have them, planning a trip to coincide with this festival is the right way to see Quebec City.

The place is on fire. People are kind and it's just a great festival with great music. There are 3 stages and each one has either 3-6 performers at each one. The quebec loto stage is more personable and only allows about 2000 people each night. The bell stage allows up to 90000 people! They frequently close the gates around 8pm for big shows bc it reaches capacity. For me the best part is the run to the stage. They open the gates at 6pm and people run to their preffered spots on the gate. Along the middle most musicians come up close for you to get amazing photos and even high five you! It's magical and I am so addicted to front row. It is outside and weather dependant but I've only had 2 shows cancelled by weather in two years (imagine dragons and Luis fonsi). They do close if there is lightening or thunder.

There are several pavilions housing their different animals and sea life with hilly walkways between. If you come during the colder months, be sure to dress warmly!!! You will be outside more than you expect, particularly if you want to take in some of the educational and feeding demonstrations. We arrived just in time to catch the polar bear feeding, which is a must-see. You can watch from the higher level where they toss in the food, or the lower level with an underwater view. The staff member who came out to announce the feeding and provide some information did so entirely in French, so bring your French-speaking friend or use your phone translator. Their fish pavilion was lovely. It's small if you're used to a major aquarium, like Monterey, Cali. or SeaWorld. But it is well-done and the lighting in the aquariums really made the sea life look beautiful. I like how they marked each aquarium with the species' threat levels. It was educational for our kids to learn about how biodiversity is threatened. There is an area where you can pet sea rays as well as feed them for a fee. These rays are VERY eager to be fed, so I would not recommend doing the feeding unless you are 100% unafraid of them. Mind you it's perfectly safe, they're just a tad aggressive and might frighten younger guests. There was also foxes, owls, seals, and more. We came at the end of November, which I'm guessing is not their peak season, so there was not a lot of people there and most of the food offerings were closed. There are lots of nice outdoor areas, and I bet this place really sings in the summer when all the plants and trees come back to life. You can see everything they have in probably 2 hours maximum. They have a nice gift shop where any members of your party who have a soft spot for adorable stuffed animals will absolutely lose their minds. Check it out!

They have a wide variety of species and education on all the exhibits in French and English. The staff were present and friendly. The facilities were well maintained and all the animals looked healthy. We loved seeing the polar bear, foxes, owls, beautiful tanks of fish, and more. They use plenty of seating areas, a cafe, and a gift shop. They have activities and play grounds for the younger kids. This is a great place to add to our itinerary!

Another surprise is that the show is held outdoors in Quebec City's Saint-Roch district which is about a 10 minute downhill walk from Vieux Quebec City to Lower Town. The staging has incredibly all been set up under the Dufferin-Montmorency highway overpass. It may be hard to imagine but the venue adds to the mystery and magic of the show. Apparently for the past 4 years Cirque Du Soleil has presented free shows in this spot during the summer months. Each year a different artistic director is called upon to create something innovative and befitting this unique outdoor space. The director this year is Pamela Schneider and I sing her praises. The sets and lighting are all professionally done and there is no apparent scrimping because it's not in a "real" theater. The music is all live and is an integral part of the entire experience. If I could buy the video of this show, I would. When we were there the show started at 9:30pm but as of August 1st it starts at 9:00pm. Get there early if you want a seat. We got there only about 5 minutes before the show started so all the seats were taken but it didn't matter. Standing, we could still see perfectly. The crowd was friendly and attentive and not at all overbearing. There was no pushing, jostling and nothing uncomfortable. In fact, we ended happy to be standing because the music is so cool you kind of want to be up and moving and clapping. When the show was over, it was pleasant to find there was no mad dash to a parking lot. Most people like us seemed to be on foot and seemed to be leaving in a nicely mesmerized post-show state of mind. We followed most of the crowd back up the hilly streets to Vieux Quebec. We stopped in a local restaurant for a drink on the outdoor patio. Imagine our surprise about 40 minutes later when much of the Cirque cast showed up to have drinks. We got to say thank you to this exuberant and talented group of artists. If you're thinking of a trip to QC before September 1st, I'd make sure to go see this. If not, remember it for next summer when who knows what new and exciting show will be planned.

It seems that this set up is almost like their practice shows, they try new tricks, and new members get to practice their showmanship here. Whatever it is, it is amazing and not to be missed! The show's routine changes year to year. Like Alexandra said, it gets really busy, come in early to snag a good spot. But even if you don't, the venue will somehow still hold lots of audiences. People were also allowed to stand near the stage. Ticking so many boxes, being free, outdoor, awesome vibe, the show completes any trip to Quebec. If I am lucky enough to visit Quebec again, I would definitely definitely go again.

It tells you all of Quebec's military and military engagements throughout its history. There are popular historical reenactments of major conflicts here, a light and sound show on a large-scale model of the entire area with plastic figurines, and even some interactive entertainment at the end. It's a nice bonus to stop here as you explore the city and only takes a short time. A 400-square-foot replica of the city--complete with ships, cannons, and soldiers lined up for battle--is the highlight of the museum and helps guests visualize the area's strategic importance. it is a prime location, on Saint-Anne st, across Chateau Frontenac - so you can't miss it.

When we arrived there was a Titanic exhibit. Unfortunately we ran out of time and energy to go to it. Hoping to be able to come back and see it. It's a wonderful learning experience - a lot of wow moments and moments of tears as we learned about the rich history of the area. There are many different "rooms" to explore, it can get crowded, so keep an eye on the little ones, as they can easily move to other rooms with the waves of people. The family favorites - the singing station, the fire exit interactive board, and "crowd surfing", influencing peoples choices through doors, by pressing colors, looking for the squirrels and of course the cafe. LOL The gift shop was great too. I was able to purchase locally made gloves, which ended up being perfect for walking around the Christmas markets. I highly recommend visiting this museum - if you are looking to do a little learning and need some indoors time.

This was our second trip to Quebec City and even though we had visited the museum on our previous…read moretrip, we decided to come again as a last stop on our day of departure to check out their temporary Titanic exhibit. I'm so glad we did! This exhibit was absolutely amazing. The exhibit focused on personal effects recovered from the Titanic disaster. It also featured replicas of some of the ship's interiors and leftover items from the White Star Line's other ships so you could see examples of what no longer exists but looks similar or identical to what was on the Titanic. The sections of the exhibit are numbered, and a free audio guide takes you through the entire story, starting with the history of the White Star Line and the conceptualizing of Titanic as well as the other ships built at that time. It takes you through the media attention leading up to the sailing (not as much as Cameron's film would have you think) as well as the sailing itself. Several passengers are highlighted along with their personal effects. Many of these highlighted passengers unfortunately perished that terrible night, but not all. To see their personal things and hear their stories...it was incredibly moving and really hit home in a way that any film or documentary could not. There was a water damaged crumpled list of passengers that you can tell was used during the frenzy of getting passengers to safety. It was almost chilling to look at. There were also several items that we know are the only surviving or one of a few surviving examples. One of the most impactful parts was a wall of ice that is maintained at the temperature the water was the night the ship sank. They invite you to touch it and imagine your body submerged at that temperature. I really cannot overstate how cool this Titanic exhibit was. The regular museum is also very interesting. It gives a great history of Quebec and the First Nations, and includes exhibits about some of the programs and plans for Quebec's future. Their gift shop is a great place to grab a souvenir for your trip. So many items for sale feature Quebec's unique art and history and there are lots of items made by local artisans if you like the kind of souvenirs that you can actually use. Definitely include this on your Quebec City itinerary--especially if you can get there before the Titanic exhibit is finished.
