Yelp doesn't really have a clear category for this type of place. Carnitas is most cuts of the pig deep fried in its own lard. That's the speciality and pretty much the whole menu. Think of it like a BBQ place that serves only pulled and chopped pork. Outside there are large pots with the fried pork. You can choose whole pieces or mixed' like pulled pork'. A second vat has pieces of skin and chitlins. Take a platter and you can pick and choose what you want, the pieces and the quantity. Pro tip - make sure they dunk it or pour over juice for moister pork. You then take it inside, hand it to the counterman who weighs and , if desired, chops up the order. Go sit down and they will bring the meat, plus tortillas and fixings, see photo. So I guess it's considered fast casual. I order an agua fresca, which are water infused with flavors, my favorite is Jamaica or hibiscus flower flavors water. Two of us ate our fill for USD 12.00. I speak Spanish, so I can't address how English only would work.
The great - fast - cheap - fresh - tasty The down side - its a single specialty place, so if someone in the group doesn't want pork. Kind of an 'open building, clean restrooms, & take credit cards. There are 2 reviews in Spanish that show up in the app but are blocked on the laptop. I read and concur with these Yelpers, and it puzzles me why their reviews are suppressed. read more
