    Classic Philly Cheesesteak
    Zaid Y.

I was starving after coming back from PNC Arena and this was one of the few places open on Easter weekend late at night. The service was not good at all and the interior reminded me of your typical sports bar. Food wise, the Philly Cheesesteak I ordered with fries really hit the spot since I was starving. The food filled me up and the fries were crispy. The food and drinks were typical sports bar food, but it was good at the time. Overall, not a bad place for food and drinks, but the service left much to be desired.

Classic Philly Cheesesteak with tater tots

Went there for lunch on New Year's Eve. It wasn't that busy for a Sunday afternoon, with football games on. We were seated right away and started with some fried pickles. We decided to do a pitcher of beer, and requested modelo,, they were out. So we then asked for Stella, that was out too! That's why they got 4 stars instead of five. I ordered the cheesesteak and substituted for the tater tots, which is an additional 1.00, that's new; and I wasn't too pleased but I will always pick tots over fries. The cheesesteak was good, bread was a little soggy so I needed up tearing those pieces off. My friend ordered the hotdog/chili dog with coleslaw on the side and no queso. She said it was good but didn't care for the beans in the chili, stated beans don't go in chili for hotdogs. We decided they use the chili for dual purposes. She stated she probably wouldn't get it again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a ton of tv's and it's always loud, probably not a place to go for a quiet dinner.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We have been several times to this location and would definitely go to watch some games.

After two visits now I can confidently say the service here is just not good. Whether it be a busy Saturday or slow weekday there is just no urgency in this place. It took 20 minutes just to get our drink when there was nobody at the bar. It's silly having a single bartender for the entire place. The waitresses aren't super friendly and there is really no hospitality. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Food is ok and there are a lot of TVs inside to watch a game so if you're just there for the TVs then it may be a good spot![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The vibes were lit[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], but the food was alright. If you need a quick bite on Glenwood, this isn't a bad option!

Busy with both football and hockey games on televisions, it took a good while to get the bartender's attention to place my order. But once that was out of the way, the rest of my visit was good. The wings arrived about 15 minutes after ordering. A 50/50 mix of flats and drums. Decently meaty and well covered in the buffalo hot sauce that I requested. Only one small pot of blue cheese was not enough and I had to order a second. The wings were hot and the spice level was good. Lots and lots of TVs, this is the spot for watching sportsball on Glenwood. Go, team! Tip: Take the elevator. They're up two flights of stairs and my fat butt did not appreciate the exercise. Beer battered Cheese curds - fried Wisconsin cheddar cheese bites w/ rep pepper jalapeño jam. To this day, I have NO IDEA what the attraction is to eating flavorless cheese curds. I just don't get it... but they're a big hit w/ everyone else so this gets a 'neutral' rating from me. Corn bisque - when I read this, I thought, 'how will a corn soup taste'? It can be either be incredibly bland or really flavorful if they knew what they were doing. Well, I'm here to tell you, they ABSOLUTELY knew what they were doing with this simple soup. The flavor was so incredibly good, that I stopped eating the other offerings and ordered another corn bisque. So happy I did. THIS WAS THE STANDOUT STAR!!!! Yumm... TRIPLE WORD SCORE!! Smoked Chicken quesadillas - pico de gallo, melted cheddar jack, spicy mayo, guacamole and housemade chipotle ranch. These had good flavor and the chipotle ranch was the perfect accompaniment. DOUBLE SCORE!! Beer Battered Fried green beans - fresh green beans w/ seasonal batter and flash fried. Served w/ creamy horseradish sauce. Quite good. Had a nice bite to them (cooked al dente). SCORE!! Angry orchard (tall) - I mean, how can u go wrong with an Angry Orchard? And this one was in a very tall beer glass. Yumm. Quite refreshing.... SCORE!! We also tried their 'Drink Special' the Paloma - this was a grapefruit infused drink that was absolutely refreshing. It tasted like... Summer. It's the only way I can describe it. Amazing drink! SCORE!! Pulled Pork Sandwich - NC Brookwood Farms pulled pork topped w/ our Carolina style BBQ sauce atop a toasted brioche bun w/ housemate Carolina Coleslaw. Absolutely delicious. I'll just say, NC really does BBQ right! SCORE!! The ONLY issue with this place was, the service was incredibly slow. I don't know what was goin on behind the scenes but we were not informed about there being a hold up. We had to constantly figure it out. I understand restaurants / kitchens have their off days so I get it. This could have been a 5 star review if the service was simply up to a standard level.

This was poorest service I have ever received at a restaurant . Waitress forgot orders and drinks multiple time after asking her multiple times. She was not knowledgeable on the menu, general drinks, and did not refill waters. Food orders were messed up. Had to ask for utensils and napkins as none were provided. Luckily the food was decent enough. Probably had an unlucky server, but that drastically ruined the experience here.

I had the coastal shrimp and the beyond burger. The burger was good could have been cooked a little more. The shrimp was delicious. I also had the watermelon margaritas boy we're they good! According to the menu they have different specials daily. Very busy place.

I've been a fan of Carolina Ale House since I relocated here last year. It has been my go to for ordering lunch, late dinners and the obvious, their famous wings ! Briar Creek being my favorite location thus far. Last night while downtown on Glenwood we decided to have a late bite after 9:30 pm. We were greeted by two bouncers. I will say, these guys looked like Beyoncé's security. They were very much in shape. This location goes up to the rooftop so that you can see Glenwood Avenue. Unfortunately we did not have a good seat with a view. We were seated closer to the bar and near a artist who was playing guitar and performing Childish Gambino's Stay Woke the pop version. He was extremely talented however the music was so loud over the speaker. This could have been adjusted. We decided on garlic parm chicken zingers, fried shrimp /fries plate and as always I had the Braised Pulled Chicken Quesadilla. The food arrived and it looked terrible. Not what I would expect from CAH at all. My quesadilla has always been consistently good. Fresh and with clean presentation. Last night it tasted like canned chicken, mushy and just lackluster. Our zingers.... I don't know what happened there. I really don't. The sauce and batter was served with our zingers separately in a pile on the platter. Messily plated. Chicken was not good. The manager visited in an attempt to make things right but came off combative about "our" dining experience. I was grateful he did not charge for food that was not consumed however I will not return. I always order the same menu items at CAH. They are always consistently good but not this visit at this location.

The young man hosting today was very courteous- open both doors ( they were on the heavy side) to the inside of the restaurant. He seated us thoughtfully;however, at first,my hubby and I thought the server was a little brusque in tone- perhaps she was having a bad work day or was not feeling well or had experienced a less than desirable customer experience. After my party and I placed our orders- we felt a little let down because we frequently dine at another Carolina Ale place and really enjoy ourselves. But, our meal was fantastic- hats off to the chef. Our food was ready in a very short time - an salmon entree and a rib entree was cooked to our liking-unable to get dry rubs and no filters for coffee for after dining - otherwise an excellent meal. The server checked on us frequently- and softened her tone after we placed our orders. the hostess Covid protocol in place and the bathroom looked and smelled very clean. This is a one level building with a large sports bar,Billiard tables, large clear TV's mounted around the walls.Eat in, take out, Ample parking available. Easily accessible from Glenwood Blvd, which turns into route 70 at Brier creek offering lots of shopping experiences- strip malls, restaurants and different major hospitals, accommodations, close to route 50, Raleigh NC Durham NC I-85 I-40 & 540 & RDU

This restaurant is located in Downtown Raleigh. It stays open til' 2:00 am so great for a late night snack or meal. When you enter you have to reach this restaurant via elevator it has the Carolina Ale house logo next to button so you know exactly what floor to go to. Entering you come to big nice open spaces and tables to eat. Also more private booths and a huge bar. Great for big groups. I believe there was outdoor seating but at the time I went it wasn't open. Ok down to the menu. Typical American ale house as you would expect. Sliders, wings, Handhelds and tacos were of the few items on menu. I ordered a Kentucky Mule flavor was great came in a nice copper tin cup. I also ordered the Pimento Cheese Bacon burger. This was to die for every single bite. Their fries were the right crispness as well. After I finished my burger I ordered Golden Monkey which I was excited to see on the menu. Now the reason Carolina Ale House is getting 3 stars this time had nothing to do with food or drinks and everything to do with Void of Joy Joe. Joe was our waiter and my experience I believe would of been a lot better if we had someone with a tad bit of emotion. Maybe he was a robot. We had to ask for napkins, specials, condiments. We actually just got the ketchup from booth behind us. When we were done eating he also ask if I was done with the check twice after he gave it to us. I'm new to N.C. and only here for a couple months so I'm not sure if this is the norm. I've never had a waiter quite like Joe let's say he was very Peculiar. I will possibly get a chance to go back hopefully I get Joyful Jolly next time!

For my boxes, I selected the Tobacco Road Club and the turkey sandwich. Neither sandwich arrived dressed (pesto mayo, honey mustard), nor did they put dressings on the side. To be clear, absolutely no one in my group received dressed sandwiches. Fortunately, we found some ranch in the office fridge to share, but even still, the club had no cheese so it was essentially just floppy, sad meats with white bread, and the turkey could not have been more bland if they tried. The side salads that came with them were mediocre at best, and the dressing was not great, either. Literally the only good thing I can say is that the chocolate chip cookies were tasty. I have to wonder if they even make those in house. I was not the one to place the order and I'm glad there was no money out of my pocket, but geesh, if they're going to offer boxed lunches, they could try to be a touch more inventive. Perhaps their other food or their ambiance is good, but I'll never know because you couldn't pay me to try them again after that sad food day.

It sounded hearty and perfect for a cold January day, so I ordered it. The Shrimp and Grits dish consists of shrimp and andouille sausage in a low country gravy over creamy grits. The dish was perfectly spiced--not too hot, just the right balance of heat and flavor. The shrimp were tender, and the smoky andouille sausage added just the right kick. Coupled with the Lowcountry gravy, the shrimp, andouille, and creamy grits came together beautifully, making this a deeply satisfying dish, full of Southern soul. I paired this with a cranberry and club--perfectly made, with the tart juice blending seamlessly with the soda. My friend had the Carolina Dog, at my recommendation (I've had this all-beef Old North State masterpiece here before) and thought it was delicious. My receipt said that Party was my server--maybe Patty, maybe Party--but all I know is that she was great. She was nice, friendly, a great conversationalist, attentive, and a pleasure. It was very cold outside, but our booth was very warm and comfortable. Every time I come, I notice something new--today it was the Chelsea banner on the ceiling. This is a great bar and grill with a warm, fitting atmosphere. Another very fine experience and yet another reason to return.

For drinks I ordered a bull city cider which was excellent along with a plate of chicken nachos. The chicken nachos are definitely big enough to share. Would definitely recommend yard house if you are looking for a place with good bar food/beer and has tvs.

Inside, it's a whole different story. It's the Platonic ideal of a sports bar: walls plastered with TVs all screaming different games, tables that seem to have been ordered straight from the 'Standard Pub Starter Kit,' and a menu where the wings and fries are always reliable but the cocktail list is more suggestion than promise. Still, what they lack in vermouth or fresh herbs, they are fortunate the bartenders make up for in charm, speed, and the kind of easy banter that keeps you ordering another round. Come for the wall-to-wall TVs and wings that don't miss, stay because the bartenders somehow make you forget they're out of half the cocktail ingredients. It's the kind of sports bar where the atmosphere scores even when your team doesn't. Cheers!

Woody's on Sunday when the Eagles are on is one of my favorite places to be!…read more When we moved to Raleigh a couple of years ago we were looking for a place to watch the birds and this was the first place that popped up in our search. Full disclosure, that's the only time I've ever been here, so this review will be about that experience only. You will want to get here at least 30 mins before kickoff to get a table. Also in my experience the 1PM games are much easier to find a spot for than anything else. We've definitely walked in, walked around, and walked right back out on game day before since if you don't have a table, there is not a lot of room to stand. The service is great! The servers are very attentive! The food is also fantastic! Their Philly cheese nachos are my favorites and my husband loves their wings (buffalo hot especially). They also have a pretty eclectic and long list of shooters if you are into that. It's wonderful to hear our fight song and there is always one guy who walks around giving high-fives to people in Eagles gear. I love it! This is a great spot. Go birds.
