I have been visiting Black Mountain for years but haven't tried this interesting restaurant yet…read more Today was the day for me/us and marked the day the train returned on its route through Black Mountain. We were impressed by the interest and fanfare this post-Helene event created for the locals. Parking on the street, across the street or a short way up the street is town free parking. Shannon and Rain were our friendly and helpful servers. There are many seating options. We chose the sun room which was comfortable. Others were seated outside on the side porch and several people were inside. We shared a bowl of the delicious French onion soup. Eat it while it's hot for the best experience. The buckwheat crepes were the perfect consistency to handle the savory entrees. My Market crepe was packed full of goodies including the sausage add-on. Each ingredient stood well on its own. The pesto was a standout. My partner got the mushroom crepe with chicken. She enjoyed immensely. Both entrees came with a fresh greens and balsamic dressing. The servings were generous enough to bring two halves home for dinner. Sharing soup and a savory crepe is a reasonable strategy if leaving leftovers in your vehicle during the summer heat is a concern. We joined the servers on the patio to watch the return of the train through a nicely recovering town.

The one who suggested this restaurant told the other right upfront that it's the best for this area of North Carolina and it is not Cuban food of Miami. The restaurant was busy, and of course tables are limited because of its size, but the owners were very accommodating and we appreciate that very much There is a back parking lot with three spaces, but they are for pick up only but we were given permission to use one as we had a handicap individual with us. My Cuban sandwich was just fine and tasted just like the one I had in Miami in my opinion as a gringo and everyone finished their meal without sending anything back so I would say the food was pretty good The restaurant is a order at the counter and staff will deliver it to your table. There is one unisex bathroom for All and I'm not sure about everyone else but of course our service dog was allowed. I did see two other dogs so I can only assume that pets are allowed as those two were not marked as service animals at all. I cannot think of anything that would cause me not to give this Restaurant a full five star rating

The space is very nicely designed and laid out. Plenty of room in a cozy environment. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, on top of being very effective. I was extremely pleased to find that they even had a few different vegetarian proteins for their various dishes. In terms of the food, I went with a burrito bowl with vegan chorizo. The presentation was fantastic: my photo doesn't do it justice. It was also enormous. Much more food than I could finish, but also delicious. There were so many layers of flavors and textures that really came together in a cohesive dish. The best part is that they offer three different house made salsas, which really leveled up the dish and the experience. I would absolutely recommend checking this place out. The very hip, somewhat low key vibe was comfortable while also feeling high end well designed.

We both ordered the chicken Tinga tacos with rice and beans and I thought they were phenomenal, they weren't my husband's favorite, but I would definitely order again. I just love the partnerships that food trucks and breweries have established. Great for people like me who don't drink, but who are married/hang out with people who like to drink LOL. Gives me something to enjoy while they enjoy their draaaaanks. - Noms - I placed my order and they gave me a pager so that I could go back to our table inside while I waited. We ordered a variety of things to sample all the goodness! *Sàndwich "Gaucho" - my husband ordered this sandwich and I should have gotten it for myself too. This is on French bread, with tender piece of thin steaks, dressed with lettuce, tomato and their Chimichurri sauce and that sauce is money! This sandwich was my favorite out of all the things that we ordered and I'm not really a sando person. *Sàndwich de Milanesa con Lechuga y Tomate - I didn't want to order two of the same things, since I like to sample as many different things as I can. Also on French bread, there were thin breaded steaks (it must have been panko because it was nice and crispy), dressed with chimi-mayo, lettuce and tomato. The chimi-mayo mix did not have enough chimichurri to my personal taste so I took some of the Chimichurri sauce from the empanadas and spread it all over and that made the sando even better. So I suggest getting the extra chimichurri sauce. It's $0.50. *Papas Fritas Baires - No frozen fries here. French fries were fresh with generous amount of Chimichurri sauce and parm. Very flavorful! *Empanada de carne - very tasty! Tasted fresh and fried to order. *Flan casero con dulce de leche - The dulce de leche on top was rich and to die for! It was so, so good. My only feedback is that the flan part was a bit more on the eggy side, than the creamy side, if you know what I mean. Either way, I had no problems finishing it! -TLC- The lady who took care of us was super sweet. She made sure we had everything we needed and made any recommendations when asked. AVL is lucky to have Baires! I will be on the lookout for them again when we come back to AVL! Stay safe, Friends!
