We advised Scarlett we would hold off on applying for any other homes as we really felt like this was the home for us and we would keep in touch (this was on Monday) as the lease was supposed to be signed by Wednesday. On Wednesday we checked in with Scarlett and was advised that there was an issue getting the lease out and they now had until Friday and we could check back in the. On Friday we checked in and was told once again there was a hiccup and they now had until Sunday and they would know for sure on Monday. On Monday we checked in again and we were told the first applicant didn't sign the lease and Scarlett was going to go back to the owner and inquire what the owner wanted to do. After several emails and phone calls back and forth getting them details and information they were requesting on Thursday afternoon (2 weeks after applying) we were then told the owner was looking into other options like selling the home because he did not like that we filed bankruptcy over a year ago and our criminal history - not sure what criminal history neither my husband nor I have a criminal history!!! And if that was truly the case why would the owner not have originally denied us and why would they have told us we were the 2nd choice in the beginning? My guess is the house truly wasn't for rent to begin with and they just took people's applications fees and strung people along!!!
