For my daughter's second birthday, we looked for a Build-a-Bear to get her birthday bear, and this mall is where we landed. We moved from the Richmond, VA area less than a year ago so we're still discovering all the places. My husband and I are GenX, so we are the Mall Rat generation - lost in a sea of the hot trend of "Town Centers", so we always check out malls to try to find ones that aren't on their last leg; filled with one-off trinket shops. We were in awe of this mall! It is full, it's big, it's lively, and it's got an awesome food court! It's like we stepped into a time warp and landed in the '90's; we felt like teenagers again! All the good stores are in here. The only thing I didn't see - and I may have just missed it - was a music store. I miss the old days of going and listening to new albums on headphones and talking to people as we dig through the CD racks. I got some of my best music recommendations that way. And with the resurgence of vinyl, that mall really would be a prime spot for a record store! If anyone ever decides to build a nursing home for us GenXers, just use this mall. All you have to do is take out the Southern Lion and put little rooms in there. You don't have to change anything else! 'Cause let's face it - we're not gonna go easy, so there better be a Spencer's and a Cinnabon wherever the youngin's put us. read more

While technology can be a wonderful it is also has casualties which is a shame for the current and future children. I mean does any over 40 remember growing up to one of the best experiences of their childhood called a MALL? I do and sadly those days are slowly yielding way to Ecommerce, outdoor shopping centers designed for ease of access and speed, and new societal norms. Located in a safe area off of I-485 Carolina Place is a very nice place to take the family while shopping for all those modern needs or even for us older folks, a step back in memory lane. I mean gone are Radio Shack, Merry-Go-Round, Aladdin's Castle, KB Toys and Suncoast to name a few replaced by empty units or some places that have been able to maintain their leases like Belk (for those southern folks), Gamestop, Dicks and well you get the point. The main take away is I feel is the place is safe and has great natural light. I took my daughters and got their bathing suits at a place that will remain nameless one for $80 the other $60, but alas the discount brought both to $50 total. I'm ignorant of pricing at retail stores and how it works during the season but that was just weird to me. We wondered around, picked up some Auntie Anne's pretzel bites (our favorite) to nibble on while I took them to several stores which they loved including Hot Topic and Claire's. I really like the layout here, wide open. My favorite place to take my girls is the food court. We saw a huge line and while I hoped it was for multiple restaurants, nope I knew what it was for. Sarku had over 30 people in line while all the other stalls had one or two customers. All in all it took us roughly 20 mins to get our food. I'm curious what would happen if I dropped another Sarku in the food court? Anyways, they were SLOW but as always really good. So, when you're there I highly suggest Double Chicken Teriyaki w/ fried rice along with an extra scoop of sauce on the top. The chicken is nice and caramelized with a nice soy kick and fried rice, need I say more? All in all, I still cherish the mall and Carolina Place is holding up the tradition! While I wish all the units were filled, such as life these days. If you'd like to make a day of fun activities with the kids, I think you should consider stopping by, just make sure you hit the food court while doing your shopping! read more

Visiting for the holidays and came to Carolina Place Mall to do some Christmas shopping. It was nice to have a mall half compared to the full Christmas crowd of last minute shoppers like myself, lol. There are lots of stores to choose from like lunchbox, Francesca, Bath, and body Works, jewelry, stores, and Dick's sporting goods for your sports fans and jocks. Lane Bryant for us plus size gals, one of my favorite stores, you can always find a good deal here. I always start up with the sales. It's where you can get a good deal and very low prices. This mall has gone way down hill. Used to be a relatively nice mall. Nothing wrong with a good deal, but the stuff around this mall besides belk and a few other chain retailers is just strange and cheaply made. Would be like if they turned the myrtle beach strip into a mall. read more

I'm a child of the 80's and 90's, and so is my wife. We're new to the area and live in Gastonia, but the mall there resembles something out of a dystopian horror film. We love malls, and were pleasantly surprised to see the activity level at this mall. As someone who is sad at the decline of malls, this mall made us smile, WIDE! It was reminiscent of the malls we grew up in, minus the Orange Julius, KB Toys and Sam Goody. We'll definitely make this one of our regular stops. Only negatives were large groups of teens wearing ski-masks, but security was well represented as well. read more

The Carolina Place Mall will always have a special place in my heart for years and years to come. Ever since I was born in 2005 I've visited this mall again, and again, and again. The service in every store has been outrageously wonderful and even to this day, the stores still have their kicks! A certain selection of Stores contain things that I cannot find in other places and even a hint of something new that peaks my attention such as Hollister, they've come out with a new McLaren clothing line (and coming from a car guy) that grabbed my attention tightly. Prices of many things will vary on what you want or where you shop and the density of items you buy from one store. But in the end, despite it, you will still walk away with an item that will last a very long time. I should know, because bought a t-shirt back in 2016 from Hot Topic and it still holds up even after 8 years! If you are looking for something to gift to a special person such as your wife, husband, fiancé, girlfriend, cousin or anybody. This mall has your answer in various different ways and suggestions. If you're looking for some food to eat. My best suggestion is "Sbarro". The spaghetti will have a tasteful sensation to your taste buds. Overall this mall truly has me grasped in it's own hands. If you ever at Carolina Place Mall never shop at Diamonds by David. So I brought a diamond grill 6 top 6 bottom natural stones I repeat natural stones not the moissanites at the time if you see in the pic/video I didn't know anything bout diamonds or diamonds testers so long story short when my grill came back witch I wait 2 months got it texted some where else to get told they was moissanites smh. They suck at sizing rings. In conclusion spend yo money with people that appreciate your business and aint gone try to get over on you. read more

Carolina Place is nice. There's nothing that sets it apart from other malls. It's two floors. It offers the typical stores like Foot Locker, Bath & Body Works, Dillard's, Victoria's Secret. The Christmas decor is up. The Santa meet and greet station is also already set up. read more

Charlotte has a few of these classic style malls. Northlake. South Park. The former Eastland. The new outlet mall on I-485. And of course, the Concord Mills mega mall. Among these shopping destinations here in the Queen City, you'll also find Carolina Place. Several of the usual anchor stores - JC Penney, Macy's, Sears. You know them. A food court with the usual suspects - cheese steaks, japanese, chinese, sandwiches, pizza. You know those too. The usual array of stores. Jewelry, clothing, whatnot. You know these too. The mall itself is on two levels with walkways along both sides as it weaves its way from one end to the other. Easy shopping, lots of benches, lots of inside trees and greenery. And don't forget to look up at the lovely glass roof. It's a pleasant shopping experience. read more

I should come here more often. While it is basically the same thing as Northlake mall but on the opposite end of Charlotte, it is actually a lot better. Probably because of the location closer to the more desirable, richer and more populated South Charlotte/Balantyne/Pineville area. Long story short, I'll take this mall over Northlake any day and I haven't even been here that often. It's got the usual mall stores PLUS lots of nicer restaurants, a kick-butt food court, Barnes & Noble and an REI! I won't spill my guts on REI alone in just this review, though I certainly could. Northlake lost it's B&N long ago but here they still have it. In the area surrounding Carolina Place you can find most of the typical chains that surround malls. In general, if you can't find what you need in life in this mall or within 1 mile I don't know what you are considering a "need" in life. Not sure what else to say about this mall though! Usual mall hours, usual mall clothing stores and usual mall crowds. I guess it's probably a bit more packed than Northlake mall but I wouldn't put it on the crowdedness scale of South Park or Concord Mills mall area. Oh, and don't forget, you can probably take a side trip just a few miles back up I-485 to the outlets for better discounts and deals. Sorry to send your shoppers away Carolina Place! read more

Shoe dept I can't believe I was profiled today at the this store that. I have. shopped several times, before and never felt more uncomfortable than I did today I'm in retail myself but have never profiled anyone I came To Shop and I already had other shopping bags in my hand so you could clearly see I was shopping two guy employees kept walking down the side aisles were I sat down trying on shoes one guy with a red shirt and a tall guy with long hair and a black sweatshirt with tattoos everywhere Neither one of them greeted more asked me if I needed any help or did I need a certain shoe size but just kept watching me as if I was going to steal You should never profile people based off the color of their skin and if anyone else they have made feel that way when you walk in there you should definitely contact corporate like I will be doing .tomorrow morning . read more

My best friend and I were sneaker shopping today and we stumbled on the Kids Footlocker. There was a line to enter the store but it wasn't terribly long. There was a very pleasant female employee at the front and she squirted hand sanitizer in our hands before you could enter the store. I was incredibly impressed that this company is taking this Pandemic seriously and protecting their employees and the customers. Our sales associate name is Jasmine. She was exceptionally bubbly and offered her assistance as soon as we entered the store. Jazmine was quick to assist both of us and explained that she could order our sizes if they weren't available. Best friend found some adidas that were originally $80 but reduced to $19.99! What a steal, right? Jasmine joined our excitement as I created a snapchat about this amazing deal. The manager on duty name was Robyn. All of the ladies displayed first class customer service & I plan on coming back just because the experience was so good! read more

Great selection of stores with good prices. And close to a lot of restaurants to add to the outing.

I'd say it's a meh kind of mall. I walked around the whole thing with no success. REI is just about the only store I really love here. They have some eating choices here, but not my favorite. They have an Italian place called BUCA, but worth going into the place. It was a pure disappointment. read more

They are improving with new stores, however, there are not enough restrooms, sometimes is dirty. Definitely needs a makeover. I love the Barnes & Noble store. The food area has different options. Like most malls in America eCommerce is slowing killing it. It seems that more stores have closed up shop every time I go. Regardless, there is still a decent selection of average stores but nothing high end is there. This is a good spot for bargain hunting or shopping with a small number of people around since does not have many patrons walking around. I doubt this mall will exist in the next 5 years, but until it does H&M, Express, REI, Footlocker and Dillards are still there. Skip the "food court" though; it is looking pretty run down. read more

I've been here going on four years and I just cannot seem to get into the shopping scene. Concord Mills, Northlake,and South Park all fall short and do not make me excited about shopping at all. I typically shop online or wait until I go home to New Jersey and shop there. Well, I have to admit that Carolina Place Mall actually makes me feel like shopping. Probably not my first choice in malls, but it's alright. Being in Charlotte for a while, I've seen this mall change through the years. I definitely like the design of the subtle "S" shape of the mall, making it seem longer than it really is since you can't see end to end. Parking around the food court can be a little scary, but I usually just try to get in and out really quick when I need to go here. I did just recently go into the REI (which is fairly new) but it's really neat to go in a look around... I didn't realize it was 2 stories. The other farily recent addition is the Barnes & Nobles. I have lived here for 20 years and Carolina Place used to be my regular mall. I once felt safe and comfortable, I even would let my kids go alone as young teenagers. Now, in the present day, I do not feel comfortable going there. There are way too many shootings, robberies, and even a sex trafficking ring going on there. There is very little police presence as well, which is just sad considering what happens over there. Go to Southpark Mall to do your shopping. read more

I agree with Garret G...it's not ghetto (Eastland) and it's not snooty (South Park). It's a little bit of a drive, but when I need to get my mall on, I usually head to Carolina Place as the baby-bear (just right) alternative for me. There are some good restaurants in the area as well, including Buco di Beppo, and the food court is pretty nice. The indoor play area is also an asset when the little niece is visiting. read more

This is my new favorite mall. It reminds me of the way Eastland used to be back in the good old days. The employees at all the shops were so friendly and helpful. Sometimes it's hard to find good customer service but not at this mall. Everyone was so nice. The food court was clean and there was a lot of great choices. I once loved coming here but the mall has become very loud , very crowded, and the food court seems to struggle with keeping sanitation grades in an appropriate range . Sometimes it is difficult to find a clean table and the restrooms definitely have odor and cleanliness issues. The Macy's store closed- it was one of the best although it had gotten to where it only catered to large- sized ladies and way over- priced handbags and accessories. The salon near the entrance, although the stylists were kind and professional, had a definite odor of something that maybe had been spilled and not appropriately cleaned. Although I still like to shop the dept stores, some of them have taken on the atmosphere of a goodwill store- with clothing hanging on the racks that look too trendy and staying there - bunched up and falling off hangers- Cheap looking costume jewelry- plastic looking shoes and sandals and boots. The quality just seems to be missing. I do love the skylights over the food court- Gives plenty of light and an airy feeling . The employees have to work in this atmosphere of excessive noise and odors every day- maybe this is why many of them look so tired and tense. It has become a "ghetto" mall. Please restore the clean, quiet atmosphere of this area or the valuable customers will be looking for other places to shop. read more
