Not one in which you are sitting and secretly wishing they would cut your hair faster so you could bolt out of the door and stop nattering on about your summer holidays. While, my favourite hairdressers of all time remains Hair Design (a bit more of a walk away), I reckon Cortex will please the masses. It is a small, local hair dressers which is friendly and often fairly quiet so you don't always need to have made an appointment earlier (this suits me, due to my highly indecisive nature). The girls in here are really nice and if you want some advice on what they'd recommend they'll happily provide a few suggestions. I've always had a decent cut out of here and the prices are very reasonable. Though, I've never had my hair dyed in here, so I'm not sure what that aspect of the business is like. They also offer spray tans for only £10 a pop. Something I've yet to try in here but I've heard some very good reviews of it. So, may well take up this great deal once the summer starts to show itself.

Something of an unusual and pleasant surprise, especially so at these fairly reasonable prices! As mentioned above, it's a small and local hairdressers. Both the exterior and interior are bright, clean, airy and inviting. The staff are extremely pleasant, knowledgeable and more than happy to chat away at length about the best treatment for your hair. This is something that I don't encounter enough and truly appreciate due to my curly and/or frizzy hair that doesn't react well to any types of dye. At all. Meaning that usually no matter what hairdressers I go to, I end up coming out with basically the same hair do. If not immediately then certainly after a week of washing. This is a lovely, small, local hairdressers with chatty staff who know their stuff. No appointment is required, which is always good for popping in on your day off whenever you like. The owner of the shop listens carefully to what you would like done and talks you through how she'll do it. Then proceeds to quickly and effectively follow through. This is definitely the place to go if you want a good cut and colour by well trained and friendly individuals. Furthermore, the prices are superb, as a good shampoo and cut will only set you back about £15.

I had previously had Kerastraight treatment 4 months before in a Clydebank salon which proved to be disastrous and was more than a little worried about finding one that could actually provide what it advertised. Sweeney Todd's is a friendly salon with 3 stylists and has a lovely atmosphere. There's handy parking outside and nearby. If you are looking for a good hairdresser give it a try.
