Lost and Found is a gift shop operated by locals, they have locally made gifts, paintings, coffee table books, Christmas ornaments and many other decorating items. If you ever visit Carpinteria and like to get some souvenirs, this is the place to shop at.

For those who are familiar with the show Schitt's Creek, I would compare Lost & Found to Rose Apothecary. Instead of David and Patrick, you have two sisters named Susan and Patty who warmly welcome you in. While one could describe it as a 'general store,' others would think it isn't so 'general'. It is a communal coffee shop in that making that hopes to allow everyone to "come in and find themselves." The ultimate goal is to be open seven days a week selling a wide variety of things, including: -Specialty dark roast French coffee with milk -Freshly made goodies (including chocolate chip cookies, brownies, and an assortment of chocolate-dipped ginger, apricots and more) -Home decor and products (lotions, candles, fragrances) -Locally made art pieces, stationery and more! You can't help but notice the space's focal point of a gorgeous tropical-framed painting or all the local art that yells "Carpinteria!" We had our furbaby with us (very small dog who we have to carry half the time because she's old and fat), so we were afraid we couldn't come in with her. Mary not only welcomed us warmly, but complimented our furbaby on being so calm and sweet (I carried her the entire time out of respect for the shop). This place has some AMAZING things; things which, if you're TRULY an antiques collector, you'd understand you probably won't see again in your lifetime. Not in as good of condition anyway. We saw some absolutely beautiful early American pieces. Mary was kind enough to explain some of the pieces' histories. So, is this place extremely expensive? For the average citizen, yes, probably. We didn't see anything under $200 during our recent visit. But if you actually know what you're looking at, you'd know that that's what these collectibles really go for on market/auction. They're rare. If you're looking for the kind of antiquing where you find extreme come-ups, you shouldn't be in SB lol, you should be in Ventura or LA. duh. So in response to many of the reviews for this place, doesn't sound like many of those people who were passing through really knew what they were looking at. As for the comments about the owner, I really don't know because Mary was more than kind to us and we actually asked to use the restroom too, and she politely explained that she doesn't even have one-- there's a public restroom right across the street. Also, this is Summerland.....you could probably just walk up the street and literally ask some person to use the one in their house and they'd let you lmao. A precious antiques curated attic is not the place to ask to use the bathroom imo, just saying. Anyway, Mary is lovely and so is her shop. If you truly love early American antiques, stop in because you'll love it.

Road trip! On my way to Solvang with my girlfriends for a day of antiques and food for my friend's…read morebirthday weekend, we actually turned around after spotting this shop on the 101 to check it out. After a whole lot of coffee and sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for over an hour, my friend asked the woman at the front counter if she could use the restroom. It would have been one thing to tell us politely that she didn't have a public restroom, but it was apparent by her annoyed tone of voice that she assumed we were just there for the restroom. When we asked where we might find one, despite being a local, she said, "I don't know, you could try a restaurant." Regardless, I don't know how many people stop in to use her restroom, but we stopped to see her antiques but didn't stay because she wasn't polite. I have a feeling we aren't the only ones she scares off.
