My party of six recently ate here on a Saturday night. We had planned on Marlow's but there was at least a 45 minute wait there. We had a hockey game to get to so tried Carrabba's. I hadn't been for years but they were a 5 minute wait and across from the arena. It was actually pretty good for a chain. The salads were great as well as the appetizers we tried. The least favorite thing was the pasta dishes lol. They were pretty bland. The Alfredo had no taste at all. I have been a customer for many years, I may not frequent as often but this has always been my go to. My last visit and I mean absolute last was horrible. We were greeted and seated immediately but a server never showed up nor even for water. We watched tables around us get greeted, seated and food come out but not one time anyway acknowledge us. We were looking at the hosts who looked back at us, not one time come to say anything about a server or as we walked out. This visit was very disappointing especially being this location has been here for many years. It's sad to see a neighborhood establishment become too comfortable and drop the ball. This has to be the most horrible location I've ever been to of this chain of restaurants. I am from Florida and we went to the one by our house all the time. We never had any issues. I've been to this one twice now and both times the service was garbage. I just left there with it to go order and of course it's not correct. I had to go back inside and they questioned me on whether or not what I was saying was true. When I showed them receipt, they said oh yeah, you did order that didn't you... No, I just came back in for my health! When you pay $100 for a meal, the expectation is a lot higher than that of getting service like McDonald's. But that's exactly what they are. Ordered curbside/takeout today for lunch and I was quite impressed from start to finish. Ordering by phone was easy peasy. The person that answered the phone was friendly, patient, and helpful. The turnaround time was great too. I didn't have to wait long at all once I pulled up in one of the curbside parking spots. The attention to detail in our takeout order was great! Our takeout order came out perfectly and even made sure we received the complimentary bread with a pack of olive oil and seasoning. The entree portions and flavor were great as well. I ordered the fettuccini weesie and really liked it. Pretty generous portion for takeout which I always appreciate. It was a generous amount of shrimp. Good shrimp size too. Our entrees also came with either a soup or salad. The salad was fresh with generous croutons for true Caesar salad. The side minestrone soup I got was ok, not the best but not the worst. I happen to really enjoy Carrabas. At this location the food was good but the service was really lacking. When we entered, I requested a booth and they escorted us to a booth that was the farthest from the host stand even though we passed several empty booths. When I asked her if she noticed my husband is handicapped and could she seat us somewhere closer she said they had a server shortage and I requested a booth. (Not really a good explanation for passing 4 empty booths). It then took over 10 minutes for a server to come over to our table. At least that was better than the patron next to us who waited over 20 minutes to even get a menu. I have no idea where the manager was because he had no idea about the terrible service. read more

I had a good time when I stopped here for dinner with my family, after a long roadtrip. The restaurant wasn't too busy, and the waitress was wonderful with my toddler. Said toddler is not the most consistent eater, but she enjoyed half of her mac & cheese - yay! I stuck to the spaghetti bolognese, which was good, but my husband was not a fan of the seafood linguine he ordered - he said it tasted a little off. I'd leave 4 stars otherwise. A weekday dinner with family is always a delight! Our favorite at Carrabba's is their salad. They use a creamy flavorful dressing which makes you want to eat even the last bit of the crumbles! Tonight, I went for the Shrimp and Scallop Linguine because of the red and white sauce mixture. The shrimp was well cooked, but I was a little disappointed as I could feel the sand grains with every bite of the scallop. I was so looking forward to the mussels (1st time back since the pandemic).... of course prices have went up and servings are way smaller but they tasted just as I remembered! The Spiedino I ordered with a side of the spinach that is finally back was served on a huge plate which made it look very odd and sparse! I had a craving for lasagna and I've always had a great experience at Carrabba's. So we came here to get our Italian fix. We ordered the Lasagne, Fettuccini Weesie (shrimp fettuccine), and Linguine with seafood. It came with soup or salad, so we got a sausage lentil, caesar, and house salad. First of all, the bread with olive oil was amazing. I instantly ate too much of it and started feeling satisfied. Then the soup - very good. I didn't want to eat too much lentil so I picked out the sausage and soup, and it was delicious. The caesar and house had a bit too much dressing, but I hadn't asked for it on the side (which I would next time). All were great and I already felt pretty full. Then the food came out. The Lasagne was just standard. I think that was the biggest disappointment of the night, because I was craving a delicious lasagna and it didn't match the craving. I think it lacks cheese and the pasta is too thin. I'm not an expert but something about it just left me wanting something more. The fettucine was dry and the shrimp was hard... my daughter took a bite of shrimp and spit it out. And the seafood pasta lacked sauce, so when we boxed it up to-go, we asked for more marinara which they provided. All in all, I don't regret the experience, the service was great and up until the pasta I was really enjoying the food. So I think it's a decent place but overall, I don't think I'll be going back if it's up to me. read more

Well, Happy Anniversary to me! We came here to celebrate our anniversary. We left tge kids with the pastor and we thought we was doing something. Carrabbas is my absolute favorite Italian restaurant. So, that is where we went. I ordered two strawberry margaritas (I was trying to get lit, you know, like the young people say.) I got the chicken trio and my husband got the Johnny. When my husband's food arrived, I booped his nose with my finger. Why? Because, the portions were so small. Poor chicken looked like it was in quarantine with nothing but water. When my food came out, we both laughed, because mine was just as bad. The waitress thought it was funny, but I didn't. She even said "it does look small." She left, and we waited for 15 minutes, until the waitress came back. My husband asked for the manager. When the manager came over, we asked why the food was so famished looking. He said the chicken breasts are 8 oz chicken, cut in half, and we must have gotten the smaller pieces. My husband let him know that we didn't want the food. The manager did try to make it right by asking if we wanted something else. We declined. When the waitress came over, she gave us the bill. Guess what y'all? The bill was $.01! Yup, one penny. They didn't even charge for my alcoholic beverages! The strawberry margaritas was awesome! Man, I had to go up to her and give her a mighty fine tip. I have lived in Duluth for 20 years and we have been visiting this location for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately, the last 3 visits have been nothing short of bad and last night was simply horrible.  It was Sunday night and we arrived at 8:00 and were seated by 8:15 pm which was very nice.  The water came quickly to take our drink orders and apps and from there everything went downhill.  After bringing our drinks and apps the waiter informed us that they were all out of bread.  Then when placing our order, 5 people out of our party of 9 had to change their order due to certain pastas and other ingredients being out of stock.  I actually tried placing two different orders but decided not to eat once I was informed that my 3rd choice could also not be made due to the lack of available ingredients.  Once the food for the other party guests finally arrived, the waiter placed the meals on the table and informed 5 of the 8 guests that ordered food that there were either ingredients left out of their meal or substituted (without consent) in the kitchen.   So, out of 9 guests, only two got what they ordered.   The restaurant was out of bread, certain pastas, mushrooms, french fries, certain cheeses, and a couple of sauces that come with certain dishes.  The fact that the restaurant was out of ingredients for a number of their signature dishes is bad enough, but to make matters much worse, we were never asked if it was okay to substitute and or leave certain ingredients completely out of the dishes.  The kitchen made the decisions to either swap out ingredients or leave them out completely and the waiter never asked of our consent.  This, in my opinion, is completely unacceptable...so much so I have taken the time out of my day to write this.  I truly do love Carabba's food and I'm very upset that this location is constantly providing substandard service, food, and practices. read more

I stopped here after an event and was delighted! I've never had the opportunity to dine in with them. My server was super helpful. I had the prickly pear margarita that hit the spot! Then they brought out fresh bread & olive oil. Yummy. And then the main course...the fettuccine Messa was on point! The shrimp was cooked perfectly, the sauce was flavorful and the fettuccine was just right. The love the fact that they have an open kitchen & you can watch them cook meals right there. Brought some friends here for lunch kind of mid day practicing safe distancing but craving Carrabba's Italian favorites. The tables are separated so nobody's eating to close in the staff as well covered with mask and gloves and certainly following the protocols we face as I write this during I hope the final days of the pandemic mid June. We got the calamari appetizer which is really nice and crunchy and plenty of tentacles mixed with body is making a crunchy treat. I didn't get the grilled salmon with veggies on my friends got the lobster ravioli and the shrimp pasta. Both are great dishes the lobster ravioli having a really good lobster flavor, not a lot of meat but it wasn't expected. Service was impeccable as we were nearly the only ones there inside at 3:30 in the afternoon but I was craving salmon or veal but they didn't have veal on the limited menu offerings during the pandemic which is fine. Don't expect to find everything on the menu it's impossible for the chefs to have all options prepared and ready to serve so as we all adjust to these new ways of eating out and socializing I thought they did a great job. I was happy to tip 30% as I know there was an a lot of turnover on tables and we need to support our servers who are all suffering during these times. Will come back again in a week or two as I hope to be in the Duluth area again. I've always liked Karaba's and this is the only Carrabba's I know of NE OTP. After we got a server we ended up ordering everything at once since it took just over 7 minutes to wait on us. But the appetizer came out quick and tasty along with drinks. I went with my family this past Sunday and we very disappointed. After the wait which was questionable since there were many empty tables and after we ordered only 3 meals arrived instead of 4. We had to wait before the 4th meal arrived at the table. Even before it arrived 2 of the meals (which were the same pasta dish) arrived and were only warm at best. 2 of the salads have a few leafs of lettuce and one salad had only one crouton. That's right only 1. When the 4th meal finally arrived it was not what it used to be. The chicken looked like half the portion. It was extremely disappointing. We had not been to the Sugarloaf location for some time but years ago we would come often and it was always excellent. Unfortunately this last experience was not worth $130.... far from it. I'm not sure who the night time food manager but he was extremely rude to me. Snatched food out of my hand when I clearly showed the order was mine ; then he proceeded to scold me like a child. He yelled at me to the point a dining table told him that was unnecessary. His name was Juan. Only reason I went to grab my order from the designated area was because it was super busy & I had waited over 10 min. Due to me seeing my order. I was brought to tears and belittled in front of a dining room full of people over an order that was mine. He proceeded to get in my face & told me to fix my face and don't look at him like that & pushing the bag back in my hand. I will be taking legal action. If he can't handle the stress of a busy shift he shouldn't be working let alone singling out a woman just to relieve his stress. I will no longer be ordering from this location read more

I ordered to go and that shouldn't change the presentation or taste of the food.. First off, they didnt pack any utensils or napkins. This is almost the most annoying things that restaurants could do on a to go order because it's the easiest part. Secondly, the spaghetti was mediocre... i expected it to taste better than making it at home with prego for $14 plus an extra $2.50 for 3 meatballs.. It does come with a side, which I chose the lentil and sausage soup. There are no other word other words to describe the soup besides grease....its literally grease soup.. We ordered from here via Uber Eats, we have always had a great experience when we've actually gone to the restaurant. With that being said, you would think they were a safe bet. Not so much, in fact they completely shit the bed! I ordered the Pollo Rosa Maria and I'm pretty sure I was given the lunch portion. I ordered the wife, the Fettuccine Weesie which according to her was bland as all get out and I ordered the sausage and cheese stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer which was actually a bit crunchy kinda like they were not actually cooked. I sat at the pasta bar and had the Amore Monday 3-course meal. Started with sausage lentil soup which was decent. The bread and olive oil with spices was the best thing about the meal. I had the Shrimp and Scallop Spiedino which was really disappointing. It was breaded but the breeding was soggy even where there wasn't sauce. The lemon butter sauce just didn't work with the breading. The garlic mashed potatoes were atrocious--they were watery and bland. How can potatoes be that bad? Then the John Cole was disappointing as well. The caramel was really hard and the ice cream had started melting some time before I got it. I'm usually afraid of chain restaurants because it's usually too salty for me with a no "low sodium" option. -The stuffed mushrooms are definitely my favorite. Very savory, meaty and absolutely delicious. -Minestrone: mine spilled over the edge giving it a very greasy look, surprisingly it's very hearty, not sodium drowned, and I found a lot of wonderful kidney beans. Which the base of minestrone has been argued to having either bean base broth or meat stock base broth. -Main. I opted to do the build my own pasta for $13 Alfredo, giant shrimp, red bell pepper, and bolognese on the side. My group got chicken and broccoli, 2 stars for that. Chicken is the breast, very dry and tough, unable to cut through easily, and broccoli lacked fresh taste, had very odd flavor that doesn't remind you broccoli with mushy texture.
