Ok, as far as selection and organization of a store goes....this place is a solid 4. I'm a vegetarian/vegan and the amount of veg-meat substitues of quality here are amazing. You can find all sorts of maca, camu camu, ect powders to add to your smoothies, and they have a really generous amount of organic produce and shelf items for you. They have an excellent bakery/patisserie section with the MOST delectable assortment of pain au chocolat and croissants, donuts and you know----the things that will give you some really rich cellulite. :)
They have hands down the best brand of almond/soy/hemp/rice milk and yogurt substitutes. I'm a diehard fan of Alpro products and when I head back to the states, I'm going to go into mourning for not having them.
They have an AMAZING sweets/biscuits/cakes section that makes my heart soar every time I see it. And while I haven't found a place where I can do water refills here in Brussels----I do appreciate that they sell the gallon jugs of water that the Carrefour Expresses don't seem to stock.
The only part that sucks here is the checkout process. It seems that no matter if it's the busiest time of the day, or mid morning lull---they only have a max of 3 cashiers open to take customers. That's really inconvenient. You are waiting in line forever. And for the most part, the cashiers are not the friendliest. But some of them are down right rude. It's a complete crap way to end your grocery trip. Truly....terrible cashier service. All the other employees around the store are extremely helpful and kind. Something about working that cashier desk though, sure does put employees in a terrible mood. read more
