This Conad was one of many grocery stores my boyfriend and I came for water and basic groceries to keep our travels affordable. The store was organized and service was no frills. In addition to the water we initially came in for I also picked up some Conad brand pineapple juice and an affordable asparagus omelet from their hot items area. It served its' purpose for our needs. The items we bought were super affordable and it prepared us well for the next morning so we could quickly eat and get on with the day for our early morning attractions.

I came through on my way back from the Colloseum. I guess I got tired of people watching and didn't want to join in on the aerobics at sundown thing that was going on. So, I've arrived and let get to buying a good amount of Italian Beer to drink and to bring back home to the States. Everything was nice a neat, didn't take me long to find what I needed. Ok, so it's crowded since yes,, the Trevi Fountain crowd and the Colloseum crowd pretty much gathers here. Which is ok, there's games on my phone to keep me busy while I'm in line. Plus "Americans" with anxiety issues usually peel away, so I'm quite alright since I've got nothing but time. The cashiers were pretty good,, they rang me up. I stuck the booze in my handy dandy travel tote. I paid with my "Contactless" a.k.a. "Samsung Pay." I was on my merry way back to my hotel. Great experience... The store itself and its selection seem to be on par with other Co-op's we have frequented in Italy, so that part of the equation is fine. The store staff on the other hand that we have encountered is surly, to borderline rude. We were there yesterday and not being locals there are a few idiosyncratic things done here with fruits and vegetables that we were unaware of. There was really no one else in the store and rather than correct us respectfully the Gentleman sitting behind the counter whistled at us, pointed to the plastic bags that were across from the paper (you weigh and package and price your own vegetables and take them marked to the till) put his head down into one hand and shook his head. Had we other choices I would have taken our basket of goods over to him, put them in front of him and left the store. Of course being the polite Canadians we are we finished our shopping and went to the till. The other female checker was helping someone, so we assumed the Gentleman would help us. He saw us coming, got up, turned around and started using the computer. I would suggest he needs to find a job he enjoys and perhaps look into some customer service training. All that said they have a good selection across the board and will likely have what you need. Pity you have to deal with staff such as him.

Hair products are expensive but they actually had conditioner. Frozen seafood is overpriced so you might as well go eat out again instead of cook. Frozen vegetables selection was peas, spinach, artichokes, and finally asparagus and it was on sale! Paper products, ramen, cereal bars, Coke, water, teas, juice, small chip selection, and the guacamole in the dairy section is really good. Ok wine selection with good prices. Liquor sold here behind the counter. Convenient location for this apartment rental (literally around the corner) but the prices for frozen seafood, frozen pasta and fish are very high compared to Conad and the other marts by our Trastevere apartment. It gets very crowded in spurts because if is small, convenient, and has 1 or sometimes 2 cashiers but it goes quick because most are buying just a few items and if not have some patience.

We grabbed a small thing of olive oil, box of fresh looking pasta, and a spice packet and he helped us pick the meat and cheese and even suggest/packed up some fresh pepper because it would be perfect with what we were creating. We also got two slices of fresh bread to round it out. Our dinner turned out perfect! It had tourist flairs (pasta and spice gift packs, TSA approved size items) but overall still seemed to be a legitimate local business and community staple for the most part.
