If you can pick anywhere else to go, skip Carrington and go there. Not only are the degree and class costs much higher than other comparable colleges, the communication I've had from this place has been abysmal. I use my student loan overages for living expenses, same as a lot of other students. Well, they're still behind on giving me 2 reimbursements. I've emailed my financial aid officer, Ana, and she says it's the billing department's fault. I ask for the number to the billing department and she never responds. So, I go over Ana's head and wouldn't you know it, I also don't get a response from the head of financial aid, Patricia. I'm owed $2,200 and no one can answer where that money is at. Funnily enough, I just emailed Ana again 5 days ago and emailed Patricia yesterday, and guess what? You guessed it, NO RESPONSE. You're just dollar signs to this place, nothing more. You WILL be left to figure things out on your own, you WON'T be supported, and you WILL be left to chase down your money while getting ZERO responses from the school. Save yourself the headache and the time, and pick literally ANY OTHER SCHOOL than Carrington. A small update: I left this same review on Google. Afterwards, Carrington's social media person asked me to email them. I sent them an email a week ago, and I STILL got no response. Second update: Patricia did reach out to me with an update and this issue will be resolved. I am still leaving the review as it took months longer than it should have to get a response, but I also believe in being fair and posting updates when I have them. I do wish it hadn't taken all of this to get a resolution, but any update is better than no update. read more

While Carrington is more pricey than other schools, it works hard to provide a high quality education. They have many staff members that focus on helping us students succeed in the program. The smaller class sizes and teaching staff allow the students to feel connected to their instructors. This connection helps the learning process because the awkwardness of asking questions goes away. As a student I truly feel the instructors want me to understand the material and do well. They work hard to ensure we understand and go out of their way to give us extra time after or before classes to explain concepts we struggle with. read more

I really was considering this school. However since looking into it I've had to deal with medical problems. I told the administration multiple times I am not pursuing school at this time due to medical reasons. Instead of understanding they have called at least 2 times a day every day. One of the administrators that called even mentioned our conversation and the notes about my medical reasons. In other words they are ignoring my request to stop calling. I hope you really do read and consider these reviews even though we all know you don't care at all since you get paid anyway at the end of the day The Reno campus is horrible The classroom teachers are terrible and are a perfect example as to why Nevada ranks lowest in education and healthcare. Meyers - A&P 1/2 teaches in the worst way and when she does do quizzes and exams the information is not relevant with the material she's gone over. Ferrante - she talks more about her family stories and friends during lecture than actually lecturing. I've had students and peers know more about her father than her teaching of GERD. Gilli - is the most ineffective teacher for Chemistry as he offer little in the way of help during class and I understand he's excited about his topic but he does not teach it well from what I've seen. Dean Drassilus - her bias' of this school are not in reality with other students or nurses from other schools. I've seen, had and worked with other nurses from many different schools than Carrington and they would smoke all those students in the areas they learn even on a bad day. And these are just the Day time teachers. The night time teachers have no semblance of what to teach and when other student who have actually majored in the subject fields hear them talk, you can see the confusion in their face knowing their teachers don't know what they're taking about. This school is known for producing the biggest cheaters and liars that pass the program. So if you get a Carrington nurse just know you got someone who googled their way through the whole program, got caught cheating and still passed cause at the end of the day this place still gets payed and puts out dishonest nurses. read more

The current state of affairs at the Reno Campus has led many of us to consider filing a formal complaint with the ACEN. We feel that the college's failure to provide proper training for faculty, manage schedules effectively, and maintain student privacy reflects poorly on its commitment to our education. The management's lack of organization and communication regarding the ATI exam is deeply troubling. Our professor also admitted they did not know this test while they were preparing for this semester, they were out of the blue and did not know how to give us instruction. We were not given adequate preparation or information about the ATI exam, including its content or schedule, until Week 10 of a 16-week semester. This exam constitutes 10% of our overall grade, and the uncertainty surrounding its specifics is causing significant stress. we also think this is the new way Carrington trying to drop our grades so we need to retake classes and they can make more money from us. read more

Carrington College changed my life. I kinda started back to school on a whim, it was out of nowhere, a very impulsive decision but I'm so glad I did it. My instructor/s are amazing as is the rest of the staff. They really do want you to succeed and they really care about you. It's funny (now) how I doubted my abilities but they always had faith in me and never had doubt! They were right. I graduated with honors, top of my class and now I'm on my externship which is awesome! If you want to go back to school. Go to Carrington College. The RENO CAMPUS ROCKS! read more

If I could give it a zero, I would. This school is not worth it. DON'T BE LIKE ME AND IGNORE THE REVIEWS! They weren't kidding in the reviews. This has been the worst school I've ever been to. I went to Carrington for a faster way to get my ADN however, they don't mean it is really going to be much faster because they will fail everyone in your class and give you two options which is one retake the class that you failed because the teachers failed to teach (like the mushroom hunting chemist who thinks if you aren't a chemist you failed in life) just to fail again with take 5 other classes on top of it or take it by itself 3rd semester but then you get pushed back 6 months and don't move into nursing classes. after that goes down they will accuse each student of cheating even though most aren't :)! But don't forget you automatically have to pay 7,000-10,000 even if it was only two classes. Then you'll talk to the dean of nursing on how to get help with passing after going to tutors that didn't help because all they care about is your study habits that don't help and then they also tell you to not work even though it 2023 with a terrible finical state that you have to make over $25 bucks an hour to not be homeless, so they make you try to take more out of a student loan so you can have more debt! Then the dean of nursing will tell you that ER nurses don't know anything and if you want to be that you need to aim higher than that. AVOID THIS SCAM SCHOOL LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!! read more

A necessary evil if you are looking to finish your degree quickly and don't mind paying an arm and a leg. This school used to be fairly easy to get into, but due to overcrowding this is not the case but plenty of study resources are available for the entrance exam. When transferring credits in, make sure to challenge credits they will not accept and they usually reconsider. The biggest negative of this campus is that staff continues to play favorites, be inconsistent with discipline and expectations, and would prefer to come to bat for their coworkers rather than their students. This was an issue during my two years here and continues to be an issue with current students. This program is definitely doable but you will leave with lots of debt and an understanding of the phrase "Nurses eat their young." read more

Do not consider the RN program if you don't have a medical background. They are lying if they tell you, "you'll be fine." It is accelerated for sure and without prior knowledge, you're almost sure to fail. They don't teach the material well. I don't know how I survived. The school is atrocious, the professors are terrible. I understand they aren't paid what they deserve and it SHOWS. They do not care whatsoever about your well being, health or personal life. They simply want graduates. I was harassed by one Professor immensely, and the Dean was quick to side with her on numerous occasions when she was repeatedly inappropriate, unprofessional and disrespectful. Again... I'm sure she didn't want to lose another employee. Please proceed with caution if you are considering this, it will turn your life upside down in an awful way. This program is ONLY decent if you've had previous training and you want to work in the ICU or ER. It doesn't take into account any other sort of nursing. If you're considering a different nursing school, WAIT. Don't dive into this one because it's the first acceptance you get. read more

when I first spoke to this facility I let them know about my background and I was told it would be fin, they have people who help us and work with us. well now I'm just about on my 4th term and I am mentioned it again to the "people" who I was told would work with me to find a job, looked at me shocked when I told her my background. also one thing they don't tell you is your externship is Mon-Fri 9-5pm so those of us who have to work to live and pay bills are pretty much S.O.L and have to find a way to make it work. Super disappointing. I feel as if they try to get you in to get paid and the rest is history to them. Reached out in March with no response for weeks only to be told seats were filled and I'd hear from her end of August for the October cohort. I started MBC back in January. My schooling paid in full due to aid and grants. At this point I'm getting letters saying they'll try to collect funds on me, but again my schooling is fully paid for. The financial aspect definitely has issues. No one communicates with each other so you'll definitely have to make sure you do. You'll be told one thing but everything can change in a moment. It's definitely been a headache and emails to staff go unanswered daily. If you can educate yourself then do it! Sadly I'm disappointed with where I chose to further my education, definitely a mistake on my end. Here's to waiting for them to tag my credit so I can start my lawsuit! read more

We had been to other private colleges like Unitek and Carrington staff knows their stuff, don't give you the round around and are pretty much straight shooters. Probably the worst. They lack communication with students and schedule night cohort classes during the day. They post schedules about a week before classes start each semester. The teachers are helpful and concerned for the students, but the school itself is so woefully disorganized that it makes it difficult for the teachers to even function. Until this school gains organization and structure that they can clearly communicate to their students in a timely manner, it will never be much more than a horrendously overpriced little school that catches students merely because they do not have the option of cheaper, more efficiently run schools. If you are considering nursing, use Carrington as your last resort. All the the other available programs are more organized, clearly communicate their schedules to the students, and are by far cheaper. read more

I'm giving this school 3 stars simply Because of lack of proper communication by the school. If you want to know anything, you have to go way out of your way to find it out. I'm going into 3rd semester, I did not have any classes second semester because of my transfer credits. No one ever said, when I first enrolled and my credits were transferred, that I would need to be put on a leave of absence til the next semester because of no classes. I only found this out because I happened to talk to my financial aid advisor about something else and she caught it before I would have been dropped.... the very next day. Imagine how scary it is to work so hard to get into a program and pay out of your own pocket to be able to attend, only to find out you were almost dropped for something stupid. From that point things have gotten worse. We're a less than a month away and still don't have a set schedule placed for 3rd semester. I've gotten two different tentative schedules from people I've emailed. Additionally I find out today from one of the people I've emailed on an unrelated topic that there's another orientation a week before school starts again. When was I going to be notified of this? There was no mention of it at enrollment and otherwise I would have had no clue about it. There really needs to be some kind of calendar of events posted online or in the student portal. Makes me question what else I might have missed. This school is expensive and I make $1500 payments to be able to attend. Better communication is deserved and needed. If students don't know everything that's needed, how can they meet all the requirements? This school does not function like any other school does, like UNR or TMCC etc. so if you've attended either school, like I have, just forget any procedures that they went by. Carrington is a whole separate entity. It does things its own way. Other than this, the teachers and any other staff you talk to are always kind and helpful. If you email the wrong person, they automatically forward your email to the right person. THAT is quite appreciated. From my first semester experience, I can see that the professors are very knowledgeable and willing to help you learn. read more

I had the opportunity to be both a teacher and a student at Carrington. Although both were challenging, the life experience and education obtained there could never be replaced. I am gainfully employed and feel like I had a solid education base for my nursing career. And many of my students have gone on to be successful members of the healthcare industry here in Reno. Nursing is in my genes. My grandmother was a private care RN, and I can remember as a child visiting her patients in their homes. She instilled in me a sense of caring, and the desire to comfort and heal the sick, as well as to value the lives of all people, regardless of their age, circumstances, or physical and material conditions. I had been seeking a college in Reno so I could embark on this mission in the most timely and effective manner possible. The establishment of Carringtion College in Reno has now provided a much sought after course of studies specifically designed to qualify me for certification as a Registered Nurse in Nevada. I believe my goal of becoming a RN will be achieved more expediently, and that my training is enhanced through attending Carrington College. Since I have been attending Carrington College, I have received overwhelming support from the administrative and teaching staff. Excellence, encouragement, and enrichment are only a few adjectives I can use to describe my journey thus far through Carrington College. With the education I am receiving at Carringtion, I see my mission as a RN as comprised of carrying out, to the utmost of my ability, certain specific duties and obligations to those under my care. I want to encourage, nurture, and, whenever possible, heal my patients, as well as to foster an environment that conspicuously displays how much I value the lives of those for whom I am caring. With a chronic shortage of qualified nurses evident in Reno, I also feel that I can make a real difference within my community through nursing, while concurrently realizing my personal and professional aspirations. Okay, so I decided after doing a few terms with Carrington, that my review would be most useful. I am only giving it a two star rating because I love my instructor and the staff. This is now the end of my third term, I have two more terms to go. For the most part, it's been great. However, I really feel that Carrington only caters to their nursing students. So much so that by next term, perspective medical assisting students will be forced to do a hybrid version class... also known as: online. If you like that kind of learning, great, but if you're like me, meaning: you have a family, you work, you have ADHD, then this kind of setting won't do. I simply cannot learn that way. Now, this change won't affect me because they are allowing me to finish as I started; just using this as a supporting statement to how they cater to the nursing students. After you graduate the class, they have a mandatory online portion you must compete, which again, will be problematic for me, but I've made it this far! You have the option to get your medical assisting degree versus certificate if you complete college pre reqs. Carrington does offer this online, but I would suggest going to TMCC as they are cheaper and you can also get the in-person classroom setting because you can transfer your credits. I would recommend Carrington over any of the other medical programs, but if you're going to try and do medical assisting, I would suggest TMCC. They do help you with your resume which is a nice perk. read more

It would be great to get into the nursing program but to even be considered, you have to get at least a 90% on the Kaplan entrance test. Which is extremely difficult for us older students who haven't been to school in 20 years!! read more

The Good: Once qualified, in 2 years you are done! Good instructors who have been in the nursing field. Convenient location. Small campus. Help with job placement, resume writing, etc. Tuition rate is locked in, once you are accepted, even the rates continue to rise. Recognition and Information board, to keep students informed of success of other students and statistics on NCLEX results of graduated students. Office staff is generally helpful. Finance officer will help with any type of assistance needed and can explain your options. She always has time for you. The Bad: Expensive, general ed. credits will generally transfer IN, but if gen. ed. classes are taken here, they generally will not transfer OUT to a school such as UNR, etc. if seeking further degrees. Office staff has constant turnover. Frequent lack of communication amongst the teachers themselves and events and classes not coordinated properly. Some teachers ask students to bring in breakfast for hospital staff on the floor where they had clinicals. While clinicals are a requirement to graduate, the general feeling is that this should be provided by Carrington and not the students, if Carrington wishes to express gratitude to the hospital for accepting student nurses. Be prepared for extra expenses such as that, stethoscopes, pen lights, etc. The school sometimes does not have enough supplies for everyone at orientation. Personally do not understand this.They are aware, well in advance, the number of attendees. Sometimes the wait for supplies and awards is long and shows lack of planning on the part of the school. A complete waste of my money, IMHO, is the mailing of Christmas cards (after Christmas) and Happy New Year cards, (two weeks after the new year has begun. Total waste of money, mine went right in the trash. Thought is nice, but considering the cost of this school, I was hoping to see evidence of more practical spending. In my 4th semester, the teacher asked us one morning if someone could take out the trash. WHAT? This is insane. We are not the janitors. We are serious students paying big bucks for college. Ask a LOT of questions when on an introductory tour of this school. Tours are in general good, but also a sales pitch. In all fairness, it is a good school (considering the wait to get into TMCC, UNR, etc. nursing programs), but in my review, I feel compelled to inform future students of the real deal. Thus, the lengthy "BAD" comments. This school costs big bucks, is face paced and be ready to dedicate 2 years of your life to NOTHING BUT SCHOOL. Take it seriously for the amount of money it costs and be sure to have a good support system in place in your home life. You will have little time for anything but study, eat and sleep. Overall, a good school, just be prepared for all sorts of bumps in the road as mentioned in my comments. Sign me...............tired and looking forward to graduation. Oh and speaking of graduation.....now they are considering a YEARLY graduation ceremony for all students. So for example, if you graduate in December, you will have your graduation in May..............I will not be there...thank you. This is totally cheating the students out of recognition for graduation at the time they earned it. Some folks may have even moved away by then. I can feel the college tightening their belt as I write this. read more

If you're a veteran, good luck is all I have to say. It took this college months to process any of my paper work to the VA and I went months without any payment. Now, I can't get ahold of a person in student finance to save my life. I've emailed, I've called and have gotten no response from anyone. Probably because they owe me money still and they don't want to deal with me. Also, when I do actually speak to someone at student finance, they are rude and act like I'm such an inconvenience to their day. They also don't have a VA education representative on site so you have to fax, email or mail documents out to some place not even close to the campus. Such a headache! I had to make a report to the VA so they can investigate the school for not taking care of their vets! This is my second school I've attended while using my post 9/11 gi Bill and I never had a problem like this with my last school. Carrington college needs to take better care of their veterans! read more

I'm currently in the RN program and I recommend this school to anyone, i spent years trying to get through TMCC prerequisite courses for the nursing program, it was a complete waste of time and money and made me consider changing my dream of becoming a nurse because of the way it is set up. When I found Carrington I was thinking it was too good to be true because of the short period of time it takes to become a nurse. This program is a dream come true, the teachers are all amazing and more than willing to help at all times, they give you their personal phone numbers and emails and will even meet with you on a weekend to help you if you are having difficulty. This program is a fast track program, so you do go to school 5 days a week and it does take time and effort, but you know what if they made the program super easy you would never learn anything and you would be lost as a nurse. I have already learned sooo much! the school is $45000 but if you look at the price compared to other schools in the areas cost it is very similar, UNR takes four years to become a nurse and thweir school is $16000 per year that is $64000.. TMCC is approx $10,000 for the first two years of just the prerequisite courses and then it is $25000 for the remaining two years of the nursing program. Carrington helps you with financial aide and getting grants and when I went to TMCC I couldn't even get anyone to talk to me with help with financing. Carrington also has 0% financing that you can pay on while in school if you dont want to get student loans for the whole amount that you have to pay off later. Anyways, This school is amazing and I have zero complaints about it. read more
