I know if you do not get to go to an event that's being catered by them, you'll never get to try them.. We were invited to a local furniture store being catered by CC BBQ. Let me start by saying that it was some of the best I've had in a long long time. It was set up outside under a large canopy tent. Beautiful weather that day. You trade your ticket for a plate. Started with a roll and butter, coleslaw, potato salad out of this world, baked beans yummm, smoked thighs and legs and turkey breast. 2 kinds of sauces, regular and hot. I did overload my plate a bit, but it all looked so so delicious. 1st the sides were spot on. All of them. 2nd the meat was smoked too perfection. I smoke allot so I'm partial to a certain type and this was it. The chicken was so tender that it just fell off the bone with a great smoke flavor. Also had tubs and ice chests full of water bottles!! I ate everything on my plate. It was that good. Really hoping they do this again next year as we enjoyed the invite and made a new purchase too. I tried them out at the Rockin Rib Fest so this review might be a bit slanted as it was an extremely fun atmosphere, great drinks, music, and vendors. The food was good. The ribs were tougher than I like but had a good flavor. The pulled had a lot of meat and tasted good. The pineapple coleslaw was a waste of money as it was very bland and I do not think there was any pineapple in it. I might give the restaurant a try but I will hit up one of the other places when I go back to the rib fest. read more

i was at an event last week, where Carson City BBQ was catering all 3 days. Carson Valley BBQ catered last night's volunteer appreciation holiday dinner at the Genoa Fire Department (Station 3). A good time was had by all! Our menu included delicious chicken, salmon, prime rib, plus the associated Caesar Salad, potato salad, beans, and bread. There was plenty of tasty food to go around, even as many heaping plates were observed. Line service by Carson City BBQ staff was efficient and fun. Had their BBQ are a memorial service at our church! Wow!!!!! Great flavor, the ribs were amazing! Loved the tri-tip and beans, but those ribs! A wonderful smoked flavor and very tender. The meat fell off the bones and was absolutely delicious. So glad they drove all the way to CA, sorry it took a memorial service to enjoy their food. I only regret was that I didn't eat more. Carson City BBQ catered a funeral I attended today, and I couldn't have been more impressed with their entire operation. I have a gluten allergy, so I always bring protein bars in my purse to events in case there's nothing I can eat. No need for that protein bar this time around -- Carson City BBQ's meats were a real treat for me! They were tender, juicy and super tasty. I also loved their baked beans - a delicious bean variety with generous chunks of pork in it. And even though the turnout was larger than anticipated, there was more than enough food to go around, including seconds for all who wanted more (even thirds for some -- guilty as charged!), and enough left over for a few nights of meals packed up for the widow and family to take home with them, which I'm sure they appreciated during this difficult time. I was also impressed with the catering crew (including the owner!) who stopped by tables to take away empty plates for the guests - and *always* asking before assuming you were through. I'm sure the family was very grateful not to have to manage food and clean-up. All in all, a very professional operation with great food - I highly recommend them! read more

They provided, bbq chicken, tri-tip, potato salad, Cole slaw, baked beans, rolls, butter, plates, napkins and plastic silverware. The food was delicious. We picked it up. They even warmed up our cooler with hot water to transport the tri-tip and BBQ chicken. We heartily recommend this company. Phil and Michele are absolutely awesome. They catered our wedding in Bridgeport and I heard nothing but complements from our wedding guests. The tri tip was perfect, the chicken was fantastic, and I really liked the baked beans as well. There was plenty of food for everyone, even after many got seconds. They even left us with a large amount of leftover meat to take with us, after we told them we were going camping for a few days after the wedding. Super nice people, great service, and I'll definitely be ordering some of the Hot and Spicy BBQ sauce to use at home. Best BBQ sauce I think I've ever had. As other reviews state, Carson City BBQ is a caterer only, they do not have a retail outlet or restaurant. So, the only way you can sample their food is if you want an event catered or you attend one of the Rib Cookoffs they participate in. The next one will be the Rib Cookoff in Sparks, sponsored by the Sparks Nugget Casino. I just attended the Rockin' Rib Cookoff in Carson City at the Casino Fandango and sampled their beef ribs for the first time. What really got me interested was that these beef ribs are the real big Texas style beef ribs (beef plate or short ribs), not the more common beef back ribs, you know like the beef bones carved off a prime rib roast. Not much meat on those, but these Texas style ribs ... WHOA ... there's a ton of meat! These are really expensive to make as each rib weighs over a pound each and with beef prices these day ..... well, let's just say beef is way more expensive than pork. Plus, these ribs take 12 hrs to smoke and someone's gotta watch the fire and make sure it's a good cook. These big giant beef ribs are only available at the rib Festivals, normally. It's a bit of a sticker shock on the pricing, but the taste ... OMG! Sooo tender and succulent and a nice fatty content due to the high quality meat used with great marbling. Also, there are no other BBQ outfits in N. Nevada offering these big beef ribs. I didn't even find any offered in N. Cal. You gotta try these ribs! If you call them, they may have some leftover from the rib fest frozen. They reheat just fine ... all those famous BBQ places in TX sell mail order frozen and have heating instructions. If you look at those TX prices shipped to you ... Well, Carson City BBQ is a bargain! read more

At our family reunion in Lake Tahoe last month, we had folks from all across the US including Texas! I came from the PNW and out of the blue found Carson City BBQ. They are the nicest people!! We ordered enough for 35 folks. First off, The Texans thought it was the best they ever had! EVERYBODY was just overwhelmed by the tenderness and flavor. Vegans were quite amazed. First of all, Phil and Michele are awesome. Their service is just excellent. I was actually out of the country while trying to finish planning for my party. I was worried that I won't be able to pay for the remaining balance as I was on a cruise ship and I didn't have a way to give them my info, and wasn't scheduled to get back until a week before the party. Michele was very flexible, and agreed to take my payment info 4+ weeks before the party. The day of the party came, and their team came on time....and served on time. The food was amazing.
