If I could give zero stars, I would. This office is the epitome of incompetence. After waiting over a month with no updates, I had to call to follow up on my referral and appointment. The staff couldn't find me in their system--even though I was previously told I was in it, and I verbally spoke with them repeatedly to ensure that I was in it! They claimed they didn't receive my referral on multiple occasions, despite it being sent TWICE by my doctor and emailed directly by me. How hard is it to manage basic communication and documentation? Their lack of organization and professionalism is beyond frustrating. No one seems to know what they're doing, and the total disregard for patient needs is appalling. Avoid this office at all costs unless you enjoy wasting your time and dealing with incompetent staff who couldn't care less about providing proper care or service. Because there is no office manager to speak with to try and resolve this issue I have to warn everyone to stay away. Never in my life have I ever experienced such ineptness. read more

The staff looked me right in the eyes and said they sent them only to find the next day at our neurologist appointment that they didn't send anything. Carter Psychology is poorly managed and not sure how this place still functions as a mental health practice when they head people don't even seem to be mentally well. Dr. Spellman needs to retire as he is tired and very condescending to both staff and patients. Don't bother going here because the higher ups only care about the $ and NOT the wellbeing of the patients or the people that actually run the day to day business. read more

Mr/Dr Spellman is a very condescending therapist. Obviously we did not get along. During our session, it felt as if he was a police interrogator. He did little to nothing to help, and thank GOD, he referred me to another therapist. He had me fill out tests, and told me to wait for him for "closing statements". Waited 45 minutes. He was finally located and claimed he did not tell me to wait. He needs some relaxation therapy!!! Will give this place another try.......with another therapist. read more

Very poor customer service. Showed up 10 minutes late due to traffic and wouldn't see me. Rescheduled and no one confirmed it and I have a business card saying it was the following Friday. Now won't reschedule because I missed and appointment without paying a 75.00$ missed appointment fee. Place is a joke and a rip off. I just need my test results. No one use this place. Front desk people are all unfriendly and not helpful. I'm in the hospitality business and this is not how you should treat clients. read more

After making an appointment for a Psychological Evaluation, I was told by this center my insurance does not cover. The test was to cost $600 and $300 in addition my $40 co pay would be due at the time of testing. I contacted my insurance company who said it was covered. Several calls, lots of time wasted, finally a senior rep from my insurance company had to call Carter to say they were in network, the procedure should come under specialist co pay and there should be $0 out of pocket amount. Carter then told me I would have to pay three $40 co-pays. $40 co-pay for the test, $40 to write the report and another $40 to send the report! I called another place for a Psychology Evaluation and just paid $40 co-pay. Beware! Very unethical! read more

I am literally writing this review as I sit in the Carter Psychology waiting room because I am that irritated and upset. This place is incredibly unprofessional and the only consistency they have is proving that they are a mess. Not only have they called last minute to cancel my first standing appointment without explanation last week, one week after that (today) I show up for my 2pm appointment and am left sitting here in the waiting room with zero acknowledgement for over 45 minutes. At the Sarasota location there is no receptionist or bell to ring, etc. I stepped out to call them at their business number to the office in Bradenton to see if someone could tell me what was going on, and they just tell me that they didn't put it on their schedule. So I've wasted yet another two hours of my life between the drive here and waiting in the office on a business that clearly doesn't value their clients or have their shit together. I am holding my appointment card that THEY made and gave to me IN MY HAND RIGHT NOW that clearly has the date, time and location, which is where I am. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this place to anyone who doesn't want to seriously waste their time or money. I'm a pretty patient person, but when it comes to an establishment meant to provide a certain element of care to people, however they may need it, this place only causes more stress. read more
