The original School has recently been demolished and the pupils have temporarily relocated to Winston House which isn't ideal but serves the purpose until the brand new purpose built building is ready at the end of 2009. The teachers are completely devoted to the children and really put in a lot of time to bring out the best in them. The School works closely with St John's Church and is a Church of England School, instilling great morals into the children which shows in their impeccable behaviour. Although in what most would say is a deprived area, the children at St John's don't want for anything - It's a great little school and a brilliant start for youngsters.

The school in a few years and with real leadership will be an excellent school. There is no real leadership and what leadership there is is not strong and directed in the right way. The current people there seem to believe that by making the building more attractive is what is most important and seem to have lost site of the fact it isa school and it is the education that is more important. Needless to say I got my children out as soon as possible and they are now nearly back up to the level they should be at.

The degrees on available are offered in partnership with the University of Central Lancashire based in Preston. And some courses run so the first year is studied at Furness College, and years 2 and 3 are studied in Preston. The college also has a small restaurant called the Forge Brasserie, which is open to the public and the meals are created by students on the catering courses. Similarly The Studio Salon is a hair and beauty salon which allows the students to practise their skills on the general public or fellow students.

The only downside i feel, is that there could be better disabled access as it is on three levels at some points and the stairs are difficult to negotiate. The disabled toilet is in the main recption area. There has recently been some renovation work as the old ROSLA block was demolished and a new state of the art gym block has been added. Children often go into further educational studies at a higher level
