I went a-looking for cigars. Saw this place on Yelp. They do have a good selection of cigars, so four stars for that. The place is more of a hookah lounge than a cigar bar. You can smoke your cigar in the hookah lounge if you'd like, but I find the aromas and flavors get in the way of each other. Good selection of cigars, decent prices. It is what it is. read more

Nice store with nice employees. Good selection of everything tobacco / hookah / cigar related. Even a small assortment of water pipes. They have a fair variety (more options than most comparable businesses) of roll your own cigarettes. They also have a huge selection of hookah flavors and hookahs. Good location and a nice inside environment. Definitely a good place to shop on this side of town. Shadi, the manager, is a super friendly nice individual. Very polite and keeps the shop in tidy condition. Definitely one of the better tobacco stores in richmond. read more

Carytown Tobacco is my go to Tobacco shop in Richmond. They are affordable and always a great selection. I like trying new mild cigars and they always have a wide variety. Their stock is consistent and their cigars are usually a few dollars less than other establishments. The hours are conducive to anyone's schedule. This particular "Cary Town Tobacco" store has been my go to for several years. I have recommended this business to many people and have taken people here in the past. My last and final experience at this particular "Cary Town Tobacco" store was several weeks ago. A boy named "Tuna Fish" was the sales associate who helped me. He was the most condescending, arrogant and rude individual I have ever experienced in sales. Aside from this he pulled a "Bait and Switch" on me. I was concerned that what I was purchasing would not suit my needs. He assured me that if it was not what I wanted to bring it back. It was not what I wanted or needed and I took it back the next day only to be told by this same individual that they have a "No Return" policy. When I asked about his statement of, "If it doesn't work for what you need, bring it back and I'll work with you" he immediately got defensive and returned to being condescending, arrogant and rude. So, I am out $65.00. With at least 4 other similar stores within a couple miles of this store, why would you go to a place that does this. Buyer beware. read more

I'm sorry that it's taken me as long as it has to find this place - it's definitely worth coming. The owner, Shaddy, is as nice as you could possibly hope for, the prices are phenomenal, and the atmosphere is perfect. I've come on Sunday afternoons and it's perfect for one looking to relax with a book with a nicely packed hookah for a few hours. They use the slow burning coconut coals (yes!) and are happy to mix flavours for you at $10 a hookah and discounted refills. Having come from Fredericksburg where a hookah will run you upwards of $14, and using the round Three Kings coals that burn out within 20-30 minutes, this is a great change. I haven't tried the food (save for a slice of cheesecake last time, which was good) but I can't imagine it would be anything to complain of. I wholeheartedly recommend hitting this place up. read more

Dont know mans name, young white guy, not Spanish guy also working there, but this man was behind register, working today Friday 11/23/18 @ 3:30 PM and was rude and not welcoming. Never had bad experiences here before but he had attitude even putting $80 worth of cigars in bags for me. Was very abrupt and could see was not interested in executing great customer service. After spending lot of money here everytime I'm in town after being away on work, may now have to look somewhere else to buy cigars. Hate to stop going after 1 bad experience but it was enough to make you rethink. Especially since they are down road from me so convenient is understatement, but would give that up for pleasurable experience in purchasing of RELAXING cigars. Experience should equate the commodity being purchased. read more

For those of you that remember the mid 2000's in RVA, you'll remember that Sahara's downtown used to be THE spot for hookah. But since it went downhill and eventually sold off to VCU, I've had to try a few other spots including Aladdin's and then also Carytown Tobacco. This is a really cool chill spot to smoke and hang out with friends and have conversation. Its usually not a rager, but its comfortable and the hookah's are nicely put together. Its also my go-to spot for when I need to stock up on hookah supplies for my own personal shisha adventures. Highly recommend both the retail section and the hookah lounge. read more

I went here on a Sunday night and the place had a moderate amount of people there. The hookah here is great and especially for the cost, $10. They rotate the coals for you too. So my friend and I go in to get a grinder. When she gets home about 2 hours later to use it was defective. She immediately call the location and they was rude claimed she broke it and said they wouldn't help her. It was 35.00 to say the least, so i called the w cary location and Sam apologized and said if we was will to come by he would make it right. I have gone a few times to this location when I get off work and every time I go it says that they are open but when I get there they are closed. It's starting to become very frustrating driving all the way there and the store is closed. Either change your hours that says your open or stay open for the hours you're supposed to freaking be open. read more

After spending roughly at least $50 a week in this store......I go in there after a hot and humid day of Richmond heat....with a non-revealing bikini top and a jean skirt to pick up something and am told by one of the workers there,...I have to LEAVE,....NO bikini tops allowed. Hmmmmmm....nothing is stated on the door except for the mention of nobody under the age of 18 allowed in. This left a really bad indention on my relations with this store.
