The parking is spacious and the restaurant itself seems larger but it doesnt have the same vibe with the high ceilings, sparse decoration. and lack of patio seating. But staff was still friendly and attentive when checking-in and as we were eating. We shared a mimosa flight. I could have sworn you were able to choose 4 flavors before but this time only 3 options offered. It wasnt featured on the menu like it was before. Regardless, got the pomegranate, pineapple, and strawberry. I recommend the pomegranate and strawberry. To eat, we ordered the waffle benedict, trio sopes, and the corned beef hash. The mixed of sweet and savory is always enjoyable with the benedict hash. Personally, I enjoy it when the hollandaise sauce is more lemony but I dont mind theirs. We ordered the chilaquiles plate which was very good and comes with Carne asada. We asked if the plate could be shared but the server said that this plate special was not big enough for two so we both ordered. When we received the bill I was shocked to see that each plate was $35.99 for a breakfast plate. I asked the server to see if it was a mistake and she said this was the "special" I understand prices have gone up but I really think that this is excessive. $100 for two breakfast seems to be really pricey. In our search for great breakfast spots in Santa Clarita, we were eager to try Casa Canela after many recommendations in local groups on Facebook. Everything was FANTASTIC. From the atmosphere (very clean and inviting) to the service(Anahi was amazing), to the food(YUM), overall a great experience. The food was so good. Everything tasted homemade, and fresh. The jam for the toast was so good we ended up eating it with the pancakes. The poblano sauce was heavenly, I could pour that on anything and devour it. Highly recommend this place to anyone trying to decide, just go...I promise you won't be disappointed. The multi grain pancakes were missing a few gains and was very doughy. Definitely not an item I will order again. The $8 fresh orange juice was not bad but next time I will skip due to the price. The $6 latte didn't taste like it should have been $6. It definitely tasted like an instant gas station coffee/latte machines. The service was good! I'm a big fan of brunch restaurants (or even breakfast restaurants that I decide to refer to as "brunch restaurants" to psychologically elevate the experience for myself. Enter Casa Canela, a newer location of a restaurant located on the other side of the Santa Clarita Valley, near all the hotels on The Old Road and the entire Stevenson Ranch community. We arrived, a party of 5 without a reservation, and had a short wait for a Sunday morning before being seated. The staff was very friendly and our server did everything he could to make sure we got what we wanted how we wanted it. It's standard breakfast with some Mexican-influenced dishes and drinks. Somewhat on the pricy side...or possibly the cost of brunch overall has gone up everywhere you go. I had the Cafe de Ella as breakfast isn't breakfast without coffee and why not try this special cinnamon-infused version of this breakfast essential. It was okay. I like a really strong coffee and many breakfast places just don't brew it strong enough...coffee is kind of an afterthought...That's basically what I got, a weak coffee that was somewhat saved by the cinnamon infused in it. The food otherwise was good with large portions. I had a side of home fries and a side of French toast. The potatoes are nice big chunks with good flavoring and spices. The French toast was good. Since it's breakfast there are plenty of options for vegetarians and even the lunch menu has a lot to choose from, especially with the Mexican options. Their phone number is 661 5059199 The menu is extensive and we selected an item to share in order to sample both seafood cactus and steak. We ordered chips and three salsa the verde was to mild the red was a low heat but good flavor. The guacamole was a good citrus flavor. Moving on to our main course Parrallada with shrimp and beef. Flavor was excellent the shrimp were crisp. The steak was chewy. I enjoyed the cactus the chili and the Mexican onion. Rice was served cold and beans were lukewarm but they were heated to a proper flavor. The beans were almost like a soup very tasty The interior was basic clean and would be adjustable to large groups. Service by Nancy was excellent We had bread pudding for dessert, which was served hot with cream and blueberries. The caramel on top was not too heavy. I would comeback. The Resturant was almost empty but Monday on Labor Day could be the reason . Dinner for two was about $50 with no drinks. I really, really, really wanted to like this place. This location is a fairly new by the old road. We noticed recently and thought we need to try it out on a weekday. My husband and I went on a Tuesday morning around 915 am and it was just the 2 of us. The place was fairly empty, there were maybe 4 other couples having breakfast at that time. Place was really quiet. The place has parking that I believe is shared with the hotel next to it, so there was plenty of spaces. I expected the décor to be more Mexican, but the place was very clean. They have a separate dinning room for banquets or larger parties. We were seated right away. The waiter came by and took our drink order but wasn't too engaging. We did mention it was our first time. He was nice but not very talkative. We both ordered café de olla. It was pleasant. My husband thought it was mediocre. We tend to have great Café de Olla with his side of the family and theirs is top notch, bold and flavorful. We both ordered chilaquiles. My husband got the green and I got the red ones topped with carne asada (it wasn't a steak it was diced up taco meat) and I got 2 eggs (shared with my husband one and one). To my surprise, the eggs weren't an auto thing. All toppings were extra. Usually in more authentic restaurants, chilaquiles come automatically with eggs either mixed in them or a fried egg on top. 3.99 for each item on top. They did come with refried beans. It was a pretty plate. Drizzled with sour cream, cotija cheese and a mountain of red onion shavings on top ( I like onion). The taste of the sauces was good. I was disappointed with the chips used in the chilaquiles though. They were not thick chips and became soggy right away. I tend to not like that soggy chip consistency and the chips should hold their crunch with the sauce. So thicker "totopo style chips" should be used for this. All in all, it was ok. At least we got to try the place. 2 chilaquiles, one with steak and one with steak and eggs and 2 coffees was a little less than $60.00. We both decided we tried it and would not come back. Again, I really tried liking this place. I love a good Mexican breakfast and although I know how to cook, sometimes its nice to just go out and have someone else do the cooking. They have a decent beer selection, but others were disappointed that they had no liquor. The group was mixed on the satisfaction of their meals... I had the meatball soup and a chicken taco. I am saddened to say the dining experience at this location was not quite as pleasant as the original location off Bouquet Canyon. The restaurant itself was clean and airy, the staff was friendly and the service was quick, which is why I am giving them three stars. Here are a few minor details that were missed and made our experience less enjoyable. For starters, I asked our server for four waters with lemon, one without ice. What she brought us, was four ice filled waters with only one cup containing lemon. Then, my daughter ordered the chilaquiles with chicken as her protein. She was told it would cost extra, which she was fine with. The server brought her chilaquiles without chicken, just plain tortilla chips in sauce. It was until my daughter had started digging into her food that she even realized it and because we were pressed for time, she didn't bother bringing it to the server's attention. And unfortunately, the tortilla chips did not look freshly fried in house, but rather like tortilla chips from a bag. I hope I'm wrong, but that's quite frankly what they looked like. The mishap with the chilaquiles and water could have been avoided if our server had repeated the order back to us, but on the bright side, the bill did not reflect the additional charge for the chicken. I don't know whether they have newly hired staff, but hopefully, with a little more training on attention to detail, things will improve. read more

Our new place for Mexican food, if it continues to stay open for dinner. I only say that because we were the only people dining in the entire restaurant at 6:30pm on a Thursday night. I couldn't help but doubt how the food would taste if no one chose to eat here. It is sort of hidden up the hill, and I have to be honest, I've passed it many times and never noticed it up there. With that being said, the food was exceptional. Prices are on par with the other sit down style Mexican restaurants. I spoke with several friends after I dined there and the majority had one gripe, "I liked it, but you have to pay for chips and salsa". Now admittededly, I know that's something I've come to expect as well when dining at a Mexican food, but they don't just give the chips and red salsa. For $7, it came with chips, red and green salsas, guacamole, and a bean dip with some cotija cheese on top. They gave us some extra as well for no charge.
