I saw this place from the road driving by many times but finally stopped in to try them out today. They have a happy hour from 3-7pm. $5 beers and house margaritas. I ordered the mexican plate which was a sampler of several things in a way. It had a tostada, chalupa, beans/rice, and enchiladas. The food was good, the marg was fantastic. Service was good, the place was not crowded when I came in. Ambience is 5 stars, its a beautiful place and they have an outdoor patio. I decinitely recommend this spot! read more

Food was ok. Not super special. Their refried beans and rice were better than the usual fare around here. My beef fajita was pretty tasty but also pretty tough. The best thing was the chipotle salsa. That was excellent. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals. The menu has changed since our last visit though and we missed the el Presidente Combo meal. read more

We came to Casa Del Taco for dinner with family. The service was great. Linet was very patient and friendly. The place is located off a major road in town and there is plenty of parking and plenty of sitting area inside. There is a patio and a bar -separate from the main restaurant- which apparently they have karaoke some days. All the meals ordered were good. When in town will stop by again. Enjoy! :) read more

Years ago we used to buy from this restaurant and it was really good, until we found Taco Ole wich is way better! but they close since its Sunday, so we decided to give it a try again and is the worst experience ever!! very little meat very little cheese , it was a botana por 2 and it was less than what you get anywhere else in a botana for 1! no guacamole the tortillas were stiff . Wife and I ordered a chicken/fajita botana for two. Meats were flavorful. Flour tortillas were freshly made. Came with cheese quesadillas, melted cheese on top, a layer corn tortilla chips, rice and refried beans. All was very good. Plenty of food for two people maybe even three. read more

We have been coming here for years. If you want authentic, house made Mexican food, this is the place. They have all the usual favorites, enchiladas, pancho's and fajitas; but where they excel is in their traditional dishes. Today I tried their Molcajete with Shrimp. It come to the table still bubbling and hot out of the oven. not too spicy and ohhh so good. Hubby went for the enchiladas molé again with housemade sauce. A nice place I found on business 83 while in town. The inside of the restaurant was nice and I'm sure is great pre-covid times. I found the food to be alright. Nothing I ate really stood out during the meal. If there is a next time, I'll go with the botana platter. read more

The food was abundant and tasty. However we wanted to sit outside and our greeter could not understand my English. So we left and called for takeout. We recently died her for the first time. Ordered the pork chops. These were without doubt the best I have had in the valley. My only complaint was that there were no beans. We will be going again. Best botanas in the entire Valley! Everything is well balanced, perfect mix with the beans, cheese, chips and meats. The green bell peppers really bring the flavor. The botana comes with chips and salsa as well on the side, very delicious too. Bar area is very well maintained. Was quickly helped. Definitely a must if you want a great tasting botana. I prefer mixed with fajita and seasoned chicken. Will definitely be stopping by again. read more

I do not recommend this place. The special was supposed to be Grilled Chicken. I asked and they told me it was half chicken so I ordered it. The chicken was smothered in oil, the side of rice was old and the salad with no dressing at all. Tonight was our first time to eat here, we had to do carry out because I had Covid. The food was good, my husband had the chicken quesadilla. I had shrimp fajitas. I'll admit I was a bit surprised to have received French fries instead of tortillas, but it kept me from eating carbs. My husband is sure they messed up the order. My first time in McAllen, Tx, and after a long day of flying, I needed to eat a meal. I decided on something Hispanic, so I was thinking TACOS! Either I was famished or the beef fajita tacos were really good (recommended by the gentleman at the cashier's counter). Served with guacamole, refried beans, chips and salsa, I was very happy after finishing only two of the three tacos in the meal. The service was just "ok". I was craving the plate that comes with potatoes, eggs, and spicey "frijoles de olla" so when my plate came ONLY with eggs and beans I was disappointed. I asked the waiter about it and he said he would go ask the chefs. He comes back and tells me he'll bring them out in a bit only to come back and offer something else bc they were not going to be ready. I said I was fine but he offered some rice and I accepted. The rice was less than average BUT the beans are really good especially when they serve the with their "chile de árbol" salsa. Well it doesn't end there. I also reminded him that I had ordered corn tortillas and not flour to which he replied sarcastically that he would go get them. It made us giggle when he walked away bc in no way I was rude or pushy to him. Do not order from this place using grub hub. They never delivered the food. When we called they said it was delivered. We had to call repeatedly- then the restaurant was terrible about letting us place the order directly. Then to make thinks worse the order was all messed up. This was probably the best Mexican food I got on my last trip to McAllen/Mission which isn't saying a lot because it wasn't great. It was pretty good though. I ordered three beef soft tacos with rice and beans. Holy oil batman! The beef was good, a little salty albeit, but man oh man was it an oily mess. It did give it some flavor though. The tortillas were a little thick for my taste, but good as well. The beans and rice were actually really good and because there wasn't as much salt there, went perfectly with the tacos. Today I had a carry-out order at this place. And was very disappointed. I stood waiting at the cash register for over seven minutes. I made eye contact with a couple of waitresses and one person I believed to be a manager. No one came to help me until I looked like I was going to sit on the desk to get attention. At that point one of the ladies I believe to be a manager came up to me and attended to the people behind me. And another server came up to me and attended to me. I give this man all the credit in the world he was very sincere in his apologies; he offered me an extra salsa for free and a soda. I felt so bad cuz he was trying so hard and the managers at the table in the reserved section were just eating and ignoring everyone. While I was being attended to another customer came up behind me and said that she was ready to order because no one had come over to her table to attend her. One waitress even came to the front desk and walked away totally ignoring me. At a later time when I was waiting for the rest of my order someone from Kitchen staff came up and asked if I had been attended to. The fact that kitchen staff had more consideration for the customers than the actual waitresses / managers is actually very sad. So for overall service I have to give credit to the host he gets a five the restaurant service in general gets a one. read more

The ride to the location where we are then was less than 5 minutes away, so I was not too pleased about having food that wasn't hot. Other than that, it was ok. I have eaten at this restaurant for many years, but it seems like there was a certain point when the price started to go up considerably, while the quality of the food has not. The chips are not the best, which affects their nacho and pancho appetizers. Their salsa is unpredictable--sometimes very hot and other times too mild. Margaritas are way too sweet. I do enjoy their caldo tlapeno, but feel that it's presentation doesn't match it's pricepoint. To drink, you can't go wrong with a Michelada--they are great! However, for the same money I can go to Palenque Grill in McAllen and have great margaritas, top-notch service, presentation, and quality. read more
