The menu is straight forward; only a couple entrees with a collection of sauces and side dishes. They also offer 3 burgers (classic- beef, chicken, or pork). We tried all three. They were average in taste, nothing terribly special about them. The chicken burger is not a chicken fillet, but a chicken sausage put into a patty. The variety of toppings (caramelized onions, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato) all added to a good flavor but made the bun slip off and make it difficult to hold together. The bread was possibly the best tasting, crusted with sesame seeds. The fresh juice, tasted like it was considerably watered down. The beer we ordered was not available and replaced by a more expensive beer. The worst part, and possibly not the fault of our waiter (order was added electronically) was the amount of time our burgers took to come. All ordered at the same time, for the same table; all came 15 minutes or more between each. The first was the chicken. Maybe it was sitting on the counter and accidentally ordered for someone else or was sent back, but it came quickly and hot. The classic burger took a while longer and maybe it was also the order of fries. I was nearly half done with my meal before my friends burger came out. And lastly we were waiting for the pork burger which we had to ask the waiter to check on. I was done with my meal before the last burger came. It shouldn't take half an hour to get a burger at 2pm after lunch rush hour.

There is plenty of indoor and covered outdoor seating, a colorful atmosphere, and I was attended to quickly.

When I go to balada , it is usually to have açai and everytime it has been possible for me to customize it. I usually have my açai na tigela (in a bowl) on the base of coconut water and less Guarana sirup to make it a little bit less sweet. And I have banana and granola on the side. Very well recommended. This is the real açai, creamy and full of taste of this amazing wonder berry.

In my group of "hungry" 3, we shared the 1/2 order of Special Picanha and an order of the chicken milanese with broccoli rice and mashed potatoes. The meat was cooked to our liking and the chicken was full of flavor and juicy (considering it was breast meat). The broccoli rice and mashed potatoes were on point too! This restaurant is tourist friendly as they have a menu in English for those who cannot read Portuguese. Our waiter came and took our drink orders. We asked about the special that night and the price. The waiter did not know so he left to ask. He eventually returned with our drinks and still did not know the about the special. Fast forward fifteen minutes and finally returns with the details. We ordered the special, rabbit with a savory sauce topped with mashed potatoes, and heart of palm spaghetti with shrimp. A table opened up inside so we were seated inside by the manager (whom happened to speak English). The decor of the restaurant is similar to the hipster style of the United States. The ambiance is relaxed. But maybe a little too relaxed as it took an additional hour for our food to arrive. We had finished our first drinks and ordered another round since the food was taking so long. There was no shortage of waiters so I assume there was an issue in the kitchen. The traditional caipirinha was strong but tasty, and one of the house mixed wine and fruit drinks was very good. Finally our food arrives, and it looks wonderful. Both meals tasted delicious with well portioned sizes. The food was delicious enough for us to forgive most of the slow slow service. Overall, we had a good experience and will come back despite the bad service. I definitely recommend this place to taste some of the finer Brazilian cuisine, but be prepared to spend at least 2+ hours there.
