I've lived in Miami for a very long time and this was my first visit to Casa Juancho. I've been missing out for a very long time. The service was very good and the ambience was real nice. The best part of the night was the food. It was simply fantastic and cooked to perfection. We shared an appetizer and a couple of tapas. We had this shrimp sautéed with olive oil and garlic (Gambas Al Ajillo). The stew that's made with beef feet, tripe, sausage and blood sausage. (Callos a la Madrileña. We also ordered the hand carved acorn-fed 100% Iberian ham. (Jamón Ibérico de Bellota 5J). For our main we had Red snapper fillet, clams and shrimp in a garlic parsley sauce. (Pargo en salsa verde). Dover sole with a lemon butter sauce. (Lenguado Europeo Meunière) and the Braised oxtail (Estofado de Rabo de Buey). I will be back the first chance I get. I can not wait to try the Paella. This is an iconic and long-standing Spanish cuisine restaurant in Miami's Little Havana for a reason. Everything from the food quality to the ambiance and the service is top notch. We started with a cheese and meat board composed of Asturian blue cheese (Cabrales), chorizo Iberico de Bellota Fermin, and jamon Serrano Fermin, which provided a perfect balance of flavors and appetite-opener while we waited for our seafood paella. The paella was amazing; it included a lobster tail, snapper, calamari, clams, and mussels. The portions were large enough to feed an army (lol, jus kidding, but they were huge). For dessert, we tried the tocinillo de cielo and torrija, two very traditional Spanish desserts. Both were absolutely deliciously sweet without being overpowering. Immediately it gave me a wrong vibe because when you pull into the parking lot, it is only valet parking. I thought that would be the end of the bad service but unfortunately I was wrong. Our server was terrible. We had made a reservation for 5 people. They set 6 plates. I usually dont care about that but when main dishes average $70 pp I expect exceptional attention to detail. Not once while we were eating did he ask is if everything was ok. They sang my FIL happy birthday but our server paraded around the restaurant with the flan and coffee in hand for about 3 minutes before getting to our table. Spitting in our food while talking the entire time. He could not even play off the fact that the dessert was for our table because he took so long everyone noticed. We asked for the check and waited 10 minutes before I had to ask again. In the end, when we got our car from the valet, he opened the door for me. My husband said thank you. The valet said no problem, it will be $10. Not only did the ticket say $8 but he did not even bother closing my door. These people are out of their minds. I love to eat GOOD food and with high prices I expect to have get service. I work too hard for my money to not be able to enjoy simple things like good food in a good environment. First time here and absolutely loved it. Went for dinner for date night and decided to order a ton of tapas rather than a main course and I think that was the way to go. The waiters are charmingly dressed in red and are prompt and attentive. Wine selection is impressive; as are the menu choices. We went with a tapas starter of chistorra a la plancha (grilled Spanish sausage links), then moved onto a Caesar salad and a soup (Caldo Gallego (Galician soup of white beans, collard greens, potatoes and serrano ham) - all was delicious! Probably the worst paella I've ever had. And service. I've heard this place was great -- I guess "was" is the key word here. 1. The two waiters for our large table never ONCE asked "how is the food? How is everything?" (A sure sign it's going to be bad) 2. We had to ask THEM if there was dessert offered after they cleared our table 3. They forgot one of the desserts 4. After we had our dessert, we waited 20-30 minutes to catch someone's eye to bring us the check 5. When he brings the check the guy has the courage to WATCH ME over my SHOULDER when it comes to the tip -- of which I gave a GENEROUS 15% for the horrible service 6. We haven't mentioned the food. The fish in my paella was so bad and overcooked, I chewed for 20 seconds and had to take it out of my mouth. It wouldn't break apart. Disgusting. Paella is supposed to be crunchy on the bottom -- and you scrape it up and it's the best part. All serious paella places will tell you this. I asked for that part and the guy couldn't find and crunchy bits. So he just tossed more gross overcooked fish paella onto my plate. 7. The sangria was water and gross. Weak. No flavors. The myth is dead. The legend is over. This place is horrible. Try frozen Trader Joe's -- it's better. read more

I said they're like fancy fish sticks , and I would recommend that! Now the food - I found the paella de mariscos bland, and the dover sole was deboned well but the lemon butter sauce was just not it, the flavor was not good to me. They do have good desserts though! They have a great selection of wines and serve Spanish beers. The servings are large - you will definitely have enough to take home for later! I love the ambiance and vibe of the restaurant. I wanted authentic Spanish food and figured this would be the perfect place. The restaurant was crowded with lots of people celebrating birthdays. I expected to wait for my food but not for 45 minutes. The food was good but not enough for me to want to go back. There was a couple next to me that sat down way after me but got their food when we did. The customer service was mediocre. I'm sure it's because they include the gratuity in the check. TLDR: The food was mostly decent but the service was a few steps below bad. Server came back to demand additional tip money after receiving 20%. Service: Our party had a reservation for Mother's Day. The whole meal was spent with the server mumbling to himself, loud enough for us to hear, that he had to find the patience to deal with us literally just ordering food. Server tried to discourage us from ordering paella by telling us that we would have to wait over an hour in a tone that can only be described as annoyed, rude, and aggressive. We were happy to order other plates while we waited - which also seemed to irk the server. All the plates were placed squarely in front of me - he refused to walk around the table to set plates down in front of others. Instead choosing to wait for me to pass each and every plate to its corresponding person as he tapped his shoe impatiently behind me. Now for the tip fiasco - Our bill was pretty high and we decided not to split it because I was pretty sure the server would blow a casket at the request. The server ran my card in one of those hand held machines, I selected the 20% tip option (which he did NOT deserve) while he starred me down. A few minutes later our party is getting up to leave and our server rushes over to loudly say I needed to tip him more because it wasn't enough. Not only was this embarrassing but it's crazy to think he felt he even deserved the original 20%. He started to get loud and extremely pushy and just kept repeating that I owed him more tip. I was mortified, I had no cash so my sister offered him the only $20 she had to leave us alone. The food was decent but not nearly good enough to make up for the humiliating experience. I felt bad for my Mom because it was her day and the server didn't even try to hide his annoyance or disinterest at having to serve us. So we went on our classic pick of Casa Juancho. This restaurant is located in Little Havana. They have valet as soon as you enter but there is also street parking (pay by phone) if you don't want to use Valet. As soon as we came in we were greeted immediately. We had reservations and they asked us to sit after 5 minutes of waiting. We sat down and were greeted immediately by several different servers. They served us water and bread right away. There was a band playing in the background all the while this is happening. The menu was straight forward but to keep it simple we got the seafood paella. The paellas are served for more than two people and since it was 6 it was perfect. We also got several jars of sangria to share. We also got calamari to share for the table. Everything was so delicious. The paella was so creamy and perfect. Honestly I would go back just for that. The sangria also tasted so good. Very nice dinner we had we the family at this place located in the hear of the little Havana in Miami. I didn't have an idea how ample that place is inside. With a great menu. Prices are high for my budget, but I was ok with it because my sister paid hahaha. I had a lamb which was cooked to perfection and almost melting in my mouth. The presentation could have been a little better but the taste was superb. My daughter ordered grilled chicken breast and it was really good too. The rest of my family had Paella and they said it was good. Most people who come to this place for the first time do so at someone's recommendation. Such recommendations usually describe the place as a Miami landmark, or as a place whose ambiance very much captures, and is reminiscent of the 'old' pre-South Beach, glossy Miami. Arriving at the place, as I did in an Uber, my first experience was that there was that the place radiates the sense of self-importance that most such places have earned through the reputed quality of their fare and the inertia of their name recognition. The valet parking staff were unapologetically hostile to my driver because he dared to enter their fiefdom rather than drop me off in the street. In spite a generous tip to the attendant, the first words that I heard from the staff are unprintable insults in English and Spanish to my poor driver. Entering the place one is immediately enticed with the smell of garlic and sea food and after being seated such scents eventually remind one of the gastronomic possibilities beyond one's reach while being ignored by the wait staff who after 10 minutes haven't even acknowledged you but at least you are seated. Without going into more excruciating detail, every course, request for service and question about the menu, is met by an unambiguous reminder by the waiting staff that your presence interrupts their conversation and very much inconveniences them in general. The food, ah the food. The food is, well prepared, savory and very much like when you go to your aunt's house who happens to cook one dish very well, but don't dare question her in any way. The rigidity of the menu is more severe than that of a fast food restaurant where you can, at least, ask to have a condiment excluded from your .99 cent meal. But fine, we come here for the much touted ambiance. The best way to convey it by describing the fountain of running water over glass pane as one enters the main dining room. At some point in 1973, it must have been the avant- garde in interior design, in 2021 the glass is opaque with greenish residue and other matter which does not inspire confidence in the 'freshness' of the place. Finally and quite promptly one receives the check with the tip already included, of course, along with a reminder that the server is a rather busy individual. The check, which, though not excessive for a Manhattan Steak House, for a place in 8th. Street in Miami, whose cuisine can be best described as adequate, is a downright insult. read more
