I have had very good experience until today. I went shorty after the lunch rush. I do not know if going after lunch was the problem. I had to wait an extended amount of time and never got my food. I am not sure what was the issue? Staffing/Kitchen/Waiter?? I waited 30 mins and inquired with the waiter about food. He said it was all good. ( How can it be good if after 30 mins I still do not have my food.) I asked for a tea refill. After 10 more mins: NO FOOD, NO TEA, AND NO EXPLANATION ON MY FOOD. I decided to leave. On my way out, I asked to speak to the manager. The manager said he would go and see what is taking so long with my food. He told me to return to my seat. I said NO not until he assured me my food some coming. He said he would go and check on my food. This place is fantastic for get togethers, birthday parties, quick lunch dates, having drinks with friends, and picking up to go. The service is typically good which is a plus. Very poor service, we rented out a room for a rehearsal dinner mind you it was NOT cheap. Shortly into the dinner after we finally got our drinks they started sitting people that were NOT in our party in OUR private room we paid good money for. After we informed the manager then they decided to attend to us and they removed the people from our room, but still all night we had random people walking through our "private" space. The food also came out cold and we found a hair in our chips. They only offered to give a little discount. Would not recommend to anyone. Never again. read more

We ate here on the evening of October 3, 2023. Our server was JoMary. She was so helpful and attentive. The food was just as I remembered it from the early eighties. The cheese chili gravy mixed with the fluffy delicious rice was so good. JoMary made it a delightful experience for us. All of the staff was very courteous. I love real authentic Mexican food and I love Tex-Mex. Back in 2006 my hubby and I went there for the first time. Not his first time...mine. I had told him I was wanting some good Tex-Mex and he took me there. He didn't know better and for some odd reason it gets voted the best Mexican restaurant in Lake Charles year after year. I honestly think they pay soneone for that "honor." Their hot sauce is just ok (I have seriously left restaurants with bad salsa/hot sauce), but their queso was even worse. BTW, didn't think you could screw up a cheese enchilada dinner. Um, I'm here to tell you that it can be done. I sent my food back and grabbed a hamburger on the way home. Flash forward 10 years later. They are still getting voted the best in the area. Again, someone is getting paid off for this title. However, I decided to give them another shot. Listen, Tex-Mex is just comfort food to me. I've been eating here since I was a kid (cheese puff, anyone?) and I always stop in/pickup an order while I'm in town. I have literally had dreams about Casa Manana's queso. I wish I were kidding, but cheese is my favorite food. A few weeks ago a friend picked up Casa for us on his way back to Sulphur. He likes the grilled firecrackers and I prefer them in quesadilla form but we both agree they're one of the best things on the menu. I wish I could say that I'd try something new, but that would only happen if I moved home. Their chips are perfect and while I normally don't like salsa, I do enjoy theirs. Hostess was very rude. We entered and she asked how many was in our party. I told her 7 and she said "well y'all are just gonna have to wait because we are changing shifts" There were maybe 20 people in the whole restaurant and they kept telling everyone it would be at least 30 minutes before they could be seated!?! When we finally got seated, our waiter was adequate after he finally acknowledged we were there. Food was just ok. Not nearly as good as other Tex-mex restaurants in LC but the margaritas were awesome Casa IS NOT the restaurant that it use to be. Ate here today after a brief break and wasn't what I've come to expect. Had enchiladas from the lunch menu and they were bland and just to get to the point- not good. CCQ was good- a little thicker than usual- ok a lot thicker than usual. Our server was a little off putting as well- to the point of being a creeper. Didn't catch his name as I paid and left. I was visiting the area for the weekend and heard this place was amazing by locals! We first ordered queso and a margarita. The "queso" looked and tasted like they stuck velveeta in the microwave for 30 seconds. Mind you I was finally able to try it 5 minutes after when they brought us chips. We ate two bites and quit because it was disgusting. The margarita was mixed terribly, the nastiest sour mixed with water, no way did it have tequila. I usually always finish my alcoholic beverages because what a waste of money, but I only had 3 sips and had to tap out. For dinner, I got the Baja fish tacos and they were alright I ate less than half. Our server was very nice, but overall I would definitely NOT recommend going there. read more

When was the last time you've eaten at a Mexican Restaurant that has been operating in the same location continuously for 38 Years? You can not accomplish this feat unless you are doing something right. This could be one of the best Mexican restaurants you'll ever visit sure it's not authentic Mexican fare so don't confuse the two but I've eaten here from day one and it's an iconic fixture in Lake Charles and earns a right to be recognized along side of other iconic restaurants in the area because fortunately there are a number of restaurants that reaches this level of greatness in this area and for a town this size it's extremely rare. Whether you agree or not, Casa Manana is a Lake Charles staple. I've been eating here since I was two, and Mr. Martel would come around and give bubble gum to the one's that finished their meal. Those days are gone, but the food has maintained it's appeal. Having traveled a bit, I can agree that it isn't the most authentic Mexican food, but for my taste, it is always an enjoyable meal. I usually order the fajitas and although I have had better elsewhere, the flavor is there and they never completely disappoint. Waitstaff is good also. Some people may disagree, but since I grew up on it, there are only two types of salsa I enjoy, Casa's and salsa prepared fresh from recipe. Casa salsa is the only salsa I will buy in a store, never Pace. Casa Manana is still family owned and they have opened another restaurant across town on Nelson called "Que Pasa Taqueria" which offers a slight difference in taste and menu selection. If you spend any amount of time at all in Lake Charles, you are liable to end up eating here, so try it for yourself and see. read more

Not bad, and probably could have been really, really bad. The food here is as authentically Mexican, as it is healthy (which is to say it is neither authentic nor healthy). Nonetheless, if you are looking for a burrito fix - this is about 100% better than Taco Bell. I tried the Burrito and the Enchilada. Essentially, the only difference between the two that I could distinguish is that the burrito is about twice the size of the enchilada and contains 1/2 refried beans and 1/2 beef, whereas the Enchilada contained only beef. I'm happy to agree with the previous reviewer: the chips and salsa were quite good. read more

I held a baby shower for my cousin at this restaurant. The first con was they obviously do not listen to their customers. My cousin requested a specific area of the restaurant where wild have a more private dining experience and they put us on the opposite side. When we arrived we were told a waiter would not be on duty in the area and did not appear to want to accommodate because they had already set up the other area. The salsa and chips were out already and we arrived before 2:30. The event did not start until 3. Natalie was the best part of the experience. She was the best waitress and was very attentive. She gets 5 stars overall experience 3. They have a huge fly problem and flies were flying everywhere. Not sure where they were coming from. I would NOT hold another event here! No one has better margaritas, chips, salsa, steak, shrimp, and everything fajitas. They have a vast menu, and I've never had a bad meal or experience there. Not your typical Mexican Restaurant. The servers and wait staff were all dressed nicely and in the same attire. The waitress was attentive and polite and answered all of our questions. She kept our drinks full and would ask if we needed anything else. The interior decorations were pleasant. Not all the bright colors you would typically expect in a Mexican restaurant. The food came out in a timely manner. The food presentation was very appealing. My wife had the chimichangas it was fried perfectly and the toppings were arranged with detail. I had the shrimp and crawfish burrito again the toppings were arranged nicely. A good presentation of the food that we ordered. The taste was really pleasing, with just the right amount of spices to make it flavorful. This is one restaurant we will be going back to. We had a very pleasant dinner. I don't normally associate Lake Charles with Mexican food. Hell, I don't normally associate Lake Charles with anything, really, other than it being a city on my way to Houston with a scary bridge in the middle of it. Anyway, on this day, a coworker and I were passing through (on the way from Texas, GO FIGURE) and we decided to stop into Casa Manana after a client suggested it. It was 1:30 on a Tuesday so there were very few people around, but the service never suffered. Our waitress has been there for something like 10 years and you could tell she absolutely loves what she does. She helped us with selecting what we wanted for lunch and I'm so glad she did. We went with the Shrimp Tacos and the Beef/Chicken Quesadilla and OH MY GOD that quesadilla, y'all. I would petition for the mandatory addition of bacon and chives to ALL quesadillas served in a Mexican restaurant, based on this dish alone. It just completely changes your idea of what a quesadilla in a Mexican restaurant is supposed to taste like and my coworker and I STILL rave about this damn quesadilla to anyone we meet that even whispers Lake Charles. I can't even really explain why it made it so much better, other than to say that bacon makes everything better, which most people know to be true. Even though I spent a paragraph raving on the Quesadilla, the Shrimp Tacos were really good too and definitely worth trying. Mostly just the basics with a couple unique items like the Queso Puff and the Pollo Y Camaron plate with mexican potatoes. Prices are great. 2 of us dined with margaritas and an appetizer for $50. Food was tasty. I had the shrimp tacos. The shrimp were very flavorful (must have been marinated) and the roasted corn and black bean salsa was a nice touch. The tortilla soup is nothing like any tortilla soup I've ever eaten. It was more of a beef stew than anything. Don't get me wrong, it was very good, just not what I was expecting. Casa Manana is a staple for every Lake Charles native. I moved away ten years ago but still have my grandmother ship me their salsa (You can buy it at market basket.) Loved this place whenever we are in Lake Charles. I always get the fried catfish court bouillon with cream sauce and mexican rice sooo yummy. Margaritas are excellent and the service is always consistent and we never had a bad experience here. The salsa were freshly made and their chips are always warm and crispy. Usually, I like to write long, detailed reviews, but in the case of Casa Mañana, I don't feel like I really need to. I've come here numerous times over the past year, and I've never been disappointed. There are so many options to choose from, and personally, I find myself always going back to one option: the boudin quesadilla. An odd twist on a traditional dish, it has a nice touch that mixes the local cuisine of southern Louisiana with the Mexican cuisine that Casa serves. Call me crazy, but it goes great with ranch, and it's one of my biggest guilty pleasures. On two occasions, they were "out" of boudin quesadillas, which is incredibly disappointing considering that boudin is readily available here in Lake Charles, but on both occasions, I was still just as satisfied with the chicken quesadilla. Many of my fellow Yelpers have a lot of negative things to say about Casa, but Casa serves the best damn Mexican food in Lake Charles, and who cares if it's slightly dirty and low-quality? read more
