Being 37 miles away, it took about 1.5 hours to get here. Starting with the positives, the resort itself is beautiful. The grounds are well maintained and there's plenty of fruit trees and green scenery all around. I even spotted fresh coconuts and a chicken crossing the path, all adding to the resort's charm. Once you reach the pool area, you are greeted with a truly breathtaking view of the ocean. The sunsets here absolutely amazing. For the resorts rooms themselves, they are quite large and spacious. There's definitely plenty of room to relax and feel comfortable. Unfortunately, the service did not match the beauty of the resort. The issues began while I was finalizing my resrvation. The Reservations and Revenue Executive was slow to respond to my inquiries. I asked about airport pickup back in October and had to follow up again in November because I never received an answer. When I finally did hear back, I was told I needed to send money in advance for the airport transfer, which was inconvenient as this would require a wire transfer. This ended up not panning out because the bank needed more information. When I reached out for clarification, the same Reservations and Revenue Executive never replied. I ended up getting my airport pickup elsewhere, only to be surprised on the day of my arrival when she reached out if I had already arrived. This seemed a bit strange to reach out then as it was already too late. The poor service didn't stop there. Shortly after checking in and entering my resort room, someone from H Resort knocked on the door. I was informed that they had mistakenly given me a room that had an extra bed and that they needed to take it away since it was not part of my package. Three resort employees then proceeded to enter the room - rolled away the bed and started grabbing some of the towels, slippers and even the coffee creamers and sugar. It felt like they were counting every penny and removing anything that was not explicitly included in my package. This made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I thought that this would be the end of the service issues but it continued on. Since it was my first time in Bohol, I asked the front desk for recommendations on tours and attractions to visit. While they did give me some recommendations, the experience became uncomfortable when I asked about prices of the tour packages. The receptionist turned to her co-worker and winked. I'm not sure whether the gesture meant she was about to increase the price or if she was making assumptions about me, bit it felt judgemental and unprofessional. It clearly wasn't how a guest a should be treated. Later that evening, we went to their restaurant to eat dinner. The restaurant is located on a second floor and requires climbing quite a steep step of stairs. When we arrived no one was there and we were told if we wanted to eat, we would need to go to the front of the resort instead. It turns out we were mistaken for guests attending a private party and that evening they were only serving the private party. If we wanted to eat, we needed to order room service. During our stay here, we only got to eat at their restaurant once because they kept having private events and weren't accommodating regular guests. The final disappointing experience happened during the checkout day. The front desk called us to inform us that our pickup ride had arrived, and I told then I would be checking out shortly. When I opened the door to leave the room, there was a whole group of hotel employees waiting outside. They appeared to be waiting for me so that they could immediately inspect the room. Having an entire group standing there felt excessive and made me feel as though I was not trusted as a guest. Even as I was checking out, the lady at the front desk was talking on her walkie talkie and stating loudly my resort room number and checking to see if they had cleared the room. Overall H Resort has potential due to it's beautiful grounds and location, but the level of service service made me feel unvalued and unwelcomed. Unfortunately, I left feeling disappointed.

Durning this trip we stayed at a fair share of hotels both in Manila (Conrad, Shangri-La and eventually Hyatt BGC) and seen some provincial resorts (Fresh Air, Sunset and VillA Estrella). So we've seen a good spread of styles and price points of quality). Having seen the pictures and reviews online, we were very excited and looking forward to our stay at Awesome Hotel. *BEWARE* IF you are expecting the website pictures - DO NOT leave the front desk without making sure they placed you in the NEW HOTEL ONLY!!! Needless to say the old hotel is extremely old and night and day of what we were expecting. We arrived later our first night only to be extremely disappointed in being placed in the old building. The next day, we made it a priority to be transferred to the new building - mind you we were not offered an option to upgrade or transfer into the new building. Night and Day! Thank the Lord we were able to get a premiere queen bed room over looking the beach, infinity pool and main garden. All the appliances were new and modern, even the smart toilet - which was branded "Awesome" (along with every other appliance: kettle, shower door, hot water carafe). The small store gift shop was nice - we bought the kids goggles and a floatie. The restaurants and food were up to par and ok. overall, i would have given the new building's look and amenities a 5 star, BUT the overall customer service definitely left a lot to be desired!! 5 star 'awesome' look with 'just ok customer service.' When in the buffet: when asked for vinegar, the staff pointed versus offering to bring it. The front desk was inconsistent: when gauging a time frame "5-10" minutes - 25-30 minutes in you had to follow up. When they said they would meet you, they did not - you had to follow up. Above all: Pool T O W E L S !?! they give you a card to redeem. If you use ur 'awesome' towel after swimming in their 'awsome' pool you would like to dry and feel 'awesome' again?! right!? NO! you cannot. apparently in trying to offer and look high end and 5 star - you ONLY GET 'ONE USE' of a pool towel per 24hrs!?! WTF!?! Say you use ur towel to dry off and it doesnt dry before u swim and want to get a fresh new dry towel? YOU CANNOT!!!! you return the towel to the attendant and the check what time u got the towel and say "you can get a new one tomorrow" - NO WHERE in the check in process they mention this!?? Let alone if your guest has used a towel and it is still wet and/or dirty - your guest SHOULD BE able to get a nice new clean and most importantly a DRY!!! towel. again, overall lets not bunch the old building in this - I WOULD not recommend the old tower AT ALL! but new building alone - I would give 9/10 - BUT with the inconsistent service and poor pool towel service - it totally brings down the "awesomeness" to 7/10. Would I recommend this? Maybe, 6hrs from Manila - ok yes, its beautiful (hope they maintain the image - not like the old building). Driving 6hrs of mediocre service?!? I would pass. I only hope they could match the service with the look - that would be AWESOME, but for now its the "OK Hotel"

They also have cereal and some bread.

Prices are pretty affordable for tourists, and the view is absolutely stunning! Overall, it's a really cute resort with beautiful beach views. The prices are decent. If you're planning a big family trip, I'd probably recommend an Airbnb, but if it's just a few people, this could be the perfect spot. A lot of surfers come here, and for around $150 a night, you can get a family suite with 2 queen beds, pretty reasonable. Want something bigger? A 2-bedroom for 8 people with 4 queen beds runs about $330, which breaks down to roughly $45 per person per night if all 8 adults split it. Not bad at all for a fun beach getaway!

Short of being desperate, we were ready to book at one of the ultra-expensive and posh hotels but even they were fully-booked by the Manila hordes who like us, apparently thought that Baguio would be a great idea. We stumbled in tired and groggy into Upstairs, and knew that it was our last option. The mixed dorm was unexciting and even drab, but we were grateful to have a roof over our heads for the night. At the very least, it was clean and the beddings were freshly laundered. The noise level was also managed, making it somewhat bearable. The common area is open-air, thus, affording you a chance to savor the crisp Baguio breeze. The winning points for the hostel, however, are its accessibility, and the level of service from the staff. It is a short walk away from SM, and just a staircase away from Mt. Cloud and Hill Station. The Chocolateria right outside has the best churros in Baguio, and you can also take a familiar yet fulfilling meal at Pamana, which is a few steps away from Upstairs' front door. You can also manage to get a cab as soon as you go out, as the street it's on is a major thoroughfare. If you want a 350-per night place to stay in Baguio, look no further than Upstairs

Now, its a thriving resort community with a hotel, surfing school, restaurants and a view to a kill from the too of the hotel. San Juan Surf was my home for 4 days, coming back to serve as a commencement speaker and to train their educators and leaders as part of giving back to the old country I grew up in. The hotel offers a variety of rooms according to your preferneces, three floors of rooms that or perfect for vacationers or just stopping by to see the beach and enjoy a stride or better yet, a sunset or perhaps a surfing lesson. The rooms are not too classy, just enough for one or a couple but will offer an extra bed here and there, if you need to. The rooms might need upgrading, its a little old now and kinky but comfortable and cool. Step out into the restaurant and they serve food from 7-9:00 P.M. From Vigan Longaniza (sausages) to milfish and eggs with coffee or chocolate. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are wonderful and nice. If you want to explore and get out of your room at 5 A.M, their gates to the sea opens up life the seemingly metaphorical gateway to paradise, fine sa D, clean landscape with umbrellas and a horde of surf instructors waiting to take you under their wings for about 600 pesos per hour. There's also some of these folks trying to sell you souvenirs and other stuff but what's cool are photographers who'll take your live photos and transfer it on your phone for a couple of hundred pesos! What a deal for a hundred-thousand likes for social media enthusiasts? LOL Drive out to San Fernando and see along lists of food haven from large chains to simple pleasures manner by Mom and Pops serving local delicacies and culinary delights of the north. Don't worry about the menu, many offer fresh fish grilled to perfection and dishes that are not often seen in larger cities of even Los Angeles where I live and work. Drive farther to Pagudpud and you won't ignore the excellent local foods by the sea, too ...from their dinengdeng (vegetables) to dinakdakan (grilled pork with mayonnaise) or a seafood combo with all sorts of clams and shelled galore. I can go on and on but if you happen to go to this wonderful country and travel north, drop by San Juan Surf Resort and experience a little about the sun, sea, surf and wonderful hospitality of the Ilocanos.

We tried to pay with credit card when we checked in but they said only cash was accepted. A day later we saw a sign that said VISA was accepted here, so not sure what the actual deal is. The San Juan surf school is right in front of the resort on the beach and you can take a beginner lesson for 600php per hour or an intermediate/advanced for 700php. Breakfast every day is not included since the restaurant Coast Call Kitchen and Bar is separate from the hotel. The food at the restaurant is pretty good! Overall, it's a nice experience but I wouldn't come here expecting a 5-star hotel experience.

The resort is made up of 6 villas and a big function room. A villa can accommodate a maximum of 10 people. We were lucky enough to spend 2nights at the resort last week and we had the place all to ourselves. Our group stayed in villas B, C&D . Very spacious. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were huge. We were allowed to use t their massive kitchen and grill. The pool and jacuzzi was a hit. The beach is just a hop and slip away. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.. I SoHu is definitely worth visiting.
