Casa Pepe de la Judería is one of those places that locals, guides, and food lovers all seem to recommend when you're in Córdoba; and for once, the hype feels justified. Located in a beautiful historic house in the heart of the Jewish Quarter, the restaurant is full of character. Whitewashed walls, charming dining rooms, Andalusian details everywhere, and a rooftop terrace that makes you want to linger a little longer over lunch. The menu celebrates Córdoba's culinary traditions while adding a few contemporary touches. But the real gem is actually next door. The same owners and the same kitchen run a beautiful, light-filled patio where you can order many of the restaurant's dishes in tapa format. For me, that's the move. Instead of committing to one or two larger plates, you get to explore much more of the menu while sitting among flowers, sunshine, and the kind of atmosphere that makes Andalucía so easy to fall in love with. If you visit Córdoba, don't miss the salmorejo. Casa Pepe prepares an exceptional version: thick, velvety, and intensely flavorful, made with tomato, bread, garlic, and excellent olive oil, then topped with jamón serrano. Unlike gazpacho, which is lighter and more diluted, salmorejo is rich, creamy, and concentrated, with tomato and olive oil taking center stage. Simple food, perfectly executed. I also fell in love with the mazamorra cordobesa. Often considered the ancestor of salmorejo, this ancient almond-based cold soup dates back to the culinary traditions of Al-Andalus, before tomatoes even arrived in Europe. Creamy, refreshing, slightly nutty, and completely unique, it's one of those dishes that instantly connects you to the history of the place. The crispy pig's ear was delightfully rich and rabo de toro was nice - nothing special but a good slow-cooked, tender meat. If you're visiting Córdoba, Casa Pepe is absolutely worth the stop. But if you can grab a table at the restaurant for a nice formal dinner or a place in the patio next door and work your way through the menu tapas-style, you'll probably have an even better experience. read more

The restaurant is a little fancier and prices are a bit more expensive, but well worth it. I didn't realize it was a Michelin restaurant until reading some other reviews on this page. We ordered a bottle of wine, jamon, and some other appetizers to share. For my main dish I got the grilled duck breast with mango chutney and a beet sauce. I'm semi hopeful when it comes to michelin rated restaurants because more often than not, I find them overly expensive for what it is. This place was no exception, don't get me wrong, the food was good. But was it blow my mind away omg I need to come back here good? Not quite. But if you do happen to come here, our favorite dish was the Leek + Sardines. They also make a pretty good sangria. The clam special and cod dishes were a tad too salty. One thing that we were puzzled about was that they brought us a basket of bread with 4 slices that we did not order. My husband and I were very disappointed. We're not even sure how this restaurant manage to get a Michelin star. We ordered the flamenquin Cordobes and that was a big disappointment. Since it's a Michelin star restaurant, we thought the food will come out fresh and hot. Instead, it was room temperature and too crispy. This dish already pre-made and been sitting in room temperature for a long time. We also ordered roasted tomato with burrata cheese. The cherry tomatoes are not roasted and the cheese were cold. When we cut into it, it doesn't ooze out like expected. Normally, there's usually some sort of balsamic vinaigrette sauce or something to balance out the flavor. This dish was absolutely flavorless. Maybe Cordobas serve differently than most places? It was not good and tasteless. For the main course, my hubby ordered the steak, that was cooked perfectly but there's no sauce to balance the flavor. I ordered tuna tartar. My tuna was pretty good so that's an extra star. Love this place so much. One of the best dinners I had in Andalusia. We had Eggplant (Berenjena), Jamon Croquette, Deep Fried Cod/Bacalao and Oxtail Stew. Everything was very delicious. The service was flawless. Our server, Hugo, was very attentive and gave us great recommendations on food choices. The best part is, he introduced me to a dessert wine that I would never imagine to be fallen in love with. My hotel recommended Pepe for a traditional culinary experience in Cordoba. Overall I really enjoyed the experience but just wasn't blown away by the food. In my opinion, most of the dishes I tried were slightly bland and needed more seasoning. Another thing that also made this experience unusual was the fact that practically all of the customers in the restaurant were tourists. Everyone around me was speaking English. Obviously that's not the restaurant's fault but just something to know before you eat here. I always enjoy finding local spots that are full of locals. I wish I had more time in Cordoba to try other restaurants to compare but I don't...maybe next time. This town is truly amazing. read more

Inside there is a tiny bar, two small simple well-heated rooms for seated tapas, and other elegant rooms for the full restaurant menu. Waiters appropriately tease those who don't try a little Spanish. Friendly and patient with me (flagrantly and apologetically butchering Spanish). We tried the lechon - slow roast pork with softer-than-crackling that some don't like but we did. Also, the bacalao (cod) here is quite good. Croquettes were yummy but we have nothing to compare then to having not previously had any in Spain. Pork with curry and mustard was outstanding. All hot dishes were hot. Not lukewarm as in some other nearby bodegas/restaurants. We ate early-for-Spain at 8:30 and the whole place was full by 9:30. All this, four drinks, and some patatates bravas for under €40. I ate dinner here at night with the required reservation on the roof top with the "can't be beat" view of the bell tower. Why three stars? Because food is a bit bland in my opinion, starting with my fish soup which was expensive and only had three scallops in it and maybe three spoons of broth. I thought I was being joked on. Almost every good restaurant in Spain had great bread except for this place. Bread was "feed to pigeons" quality. I thought I was going to end up eating my usual jamón and tortilla tapas, but to my surprise they had a great selection of celiac friendly dishes. They even had GF picos (tiny crispy breadsticks) and warm GF free breads that was crispy on the outside and soft and gooey on the inside. We ordered the grilled octopus with celery root purée, oxtail, manchego cheese, presa ibérica ( grilled pork), jamón and lamb sweetbreads that were breaded in garbanzo flour and deep fried. For desert we ordered something called chocolate chocolate chocolate. It was like a very creamy and fluffy chocolate pudding with a very soft large chocolate truffle in the middle, some large white chocolate shavings and sprinkled with some some sort of chocolate cookie crumbs (omit the crumbs for a Gluten free version) Everything was delicious, service was great, the place is pretty big so there was no wait to get a table. Since we usually eat at 7 and were trying to wait to eat until 10 we were happy to find Pepe's. On entering we were asked if we wanted Tapas or a main meal. We said tapas and were taken to a table in a small room. It was nice,but I cannot comment on the other parts of the restaurant.other reviews here are more helpful about that. The tapas menu seemed limited, but this was my first tapas restaurant, so maybe they all are. We had the bread dip called Salmoreja, eggplants with honey, croquettes and flamenquines.
