I waited two hours while waiting for someone to arrive for me to check-in and/or to get ahold of booking.com (who also could not get ahold of them); other guests arrived and called the owner on my behalf, only to have the guest look me straight in the eyes being like "uhhh you might want to find another place to stay" It is even more ridiculous because they charged me hours before I got there, so they knew I was coming. I booked through booking.com and since Villa Coral ghosted both me and booking.com, the booking company FINALLY just issued me a refund nearly two months later Save your time and money, and go literally anywhere else.

The owners are wonderful! Prior to arrival, I called The Vieques Guesthouse to confirm our reservations. I spoke to Amanda who is the owner. She helped me find my confirmation in my spam. Also, I got a text confirmation too. So easy! Upon arrival, we were greeted by Amanda. She went over all the logistics with us and we were off to our room. I loved the starfish theme in our room. From the colors to the pillows, it was so cute. Our bed was comfortable and clean. There is soap, shampoo, conditioner, a microwave, refrigerator, safe, and hair dryer too. In the morning, there is complimentary coffee and tea. You can purchase breakfast and snacks too. Amanda was so friendly and helped us navigate the island. She provided a tour and food recommendations too. Can't wait to go back!

We had the shrimp "all you can eat" as our main course, and conk fritters, and mozzarella sticks as appetizers. We also had a few cocktails. The appetizers were great, and the rum punch was by far the best, and that's where it went from having to having . While I was enjoying the shrimp, I bit into a plastic bag, I didn't make a big deal out of it. I just ordered another. And then I chomped down on another pice of plastic. The waitress was kind enough to take my meal of the bill. But never apologized, she just laughed it off. She was great, we did have to ask for more water a few times. From my first email exchange (after EXTENSIVE lodging research) I knew we had found our place to stay. When we arrived at their Casita, I hugged Mimi - she already felt like an old friend. Their place is ADORABLE, clean - perfect and has EVERYTHING you could possibly need during your stay from beach gear (chairs, umbrellas, coolers, etc.), aloe vera, bug spray, cozy towels, a fridge, coffeemaker, maps, great books to read, even yahtzee and scrabble. Seriously, you can pack light because they make everything SO comfortable and enjoyable. Great garden area and patio which you are welcome to use and enjoy... They are LOVELY people - really do feel like new friends. Joe and my boyfriend Brian bonded over beer and music while Mimi and I talked about everything else... We hung out with them on the Malecon and back at the casita - they were friendly and available but also let us enjoy ourselves - it was the perfect balance. Finally, on our last day, I had arranged for a publico to take us to the ferry but the driver never showed but Joe and Mimi had waited to make sure we got off okay so they saved the day and Joe took us to the ferry dock so we didn't miss our boat! During the day, Mike and/or John are available to troubleshoot anything for you and give wonderful advice on local attractions. I tried some that were not on the list and they are as follows: -Tin Box: If you're craving sushi on the island, this is a great place to check out. -Green beach: Rumored to have conch shells but I guess I wasn't that lucky. We had also gone post light rain, so the long road there was covered in puddles of unknown depths. Would highly recommend a generous application of bug repellent if you go. We were swarmed by a little cloud of gnats and I got little non-itchy polka dots on my arms by the time I was through -Seagate Horseback Riding: Only a good idea if you're intermediate to advance in horseback riding. The horses are not lead or strung together. There were also parts of the ride where the horses seemed to be trained to go a a trot. At these speeds, I almost slid off the horse! They were always there to give us toilet paper when we ran out and answer our questions. We didn't get to see them much since we were out and about, but the few times we did they were delightful. -There was a delicious restaurant (Kasalta) and beach (Ocean Park Beach) within walking distance. -Though the area wasn't the best, the gates all locked and only the guest had a key to unlock the gates and enter the premesis. -The rooms and beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well. -The hot tub was delightful, warm, and a great place to relax. The not so good: -The area was a little sketchy. People hanging out on street corners and playing loud music all night. -The air coniditioning was a bit TOO cold, even when we had the knob switched to "off". But I'm sure if you just ask them to help with making this more comfortable, they will. -There was limited parking and one time, we had to park a block down on the sketchy, dark street. The other nights though, we got there just in time to see another guest pulling out so we could take their spots. Overall, we liked this guest house a lot. The area does seem a little scary, but right down the street a few miles is San Cristobal and Old San Juan. It is also very close to its own little beach. If you stay here you must eat at Kasalta and get one of the delicious sandwiches and a sweet treat too!

This is simply our experience, and I'm not interested in debating or defending how we felt. To start with the positives: before booking, I read many reviews and was excited about supporting what appeared to be a small business run by a husband and wife. The property itself is absolutely beautiful , truly breathtaking scenery. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and surprisingly cool despite there being no air conditioning. The cooling system on the beds was amazing. We also did the hike on the property, which was beautiful and definitely one of the highlights of our stay. The wife was incredibly pleasant, welcoming, and knowledgeable about hospitality. She made us feel comfortable from the beginning. Unfortunately, several interactions with the husband left us feeling uncomfortable throughout our stay. Each morning, coffee and tea were offered to guests. One morning, since we planned to hike, we politely declined coffee multiple times. Despite saying no several times, the offer continued in a way that felt oddly tense, as though our declining offended him. During conversation, he openly mentioned that his wife often tells him he comes across as rude. He also praised her hospitality skills, and honestly, I completely agreed with him on that point. What really unsettled me happened when we were signing waivers for the hike. He handed me the waiver with a pen attached. After I passed the paperwork to my husband, my husband reached for the pen, and instead of handing it to him directly, the pen was tossed toward him. Whether intentional or not, the interaction immediately rubbed me the wrong way and changed the energy for me completely. For context, we are a Black couple, and while I cannot say what anyone's intentions were, some of the interactions throughout our stay felt uncomfortable enough that it became hard not to notice. Especially in the way my husband was treated at times. Another example: he offered to send horseback riding information to me. Since I didn't have my phone nearby, I asked twice for the information to be sent to my husband instead. Despite that, the information was still sent to me. The final issue involved the laundry area. We were washing a small load of clothes and some towels during the allowed hours. A few minutes into drying, he opened the dryer himself, removed my personal clothing including bras and underwear -- and left them sitting on top of the washer. He later sent a text saying the dryer was overloaded and making noise, although the load was not packed tightly and was smaller than the load left behind by the previous guests. What bothered me most was not the concern about the machine, but the fact that my personal undergarments were handled instead of simply asking us to adjust the load ourselves. None of these incidents individually caused a confrontation because we chose to remain respectful and calm throughout our stay. However, taken together, they left a stain on what otherwise could have been an excellent experience. Afterward, I revisited some of the lower rated reviews and noticed that several other guests also mentioned discomfort with the husband's demeanor and communication style. I also noticed responses to criticism often seemed defensive. Again, this review is not written to argue with the owners or invite debate from strangers online. This was our experience, and no one gets to tell us how we should feel about the interactions we had during our stay.

I made a reservation at Bravo Beach Hotel for a 2 night stay about a month ago for my stay last…read moreweek. When I arrived I was checked in and given a tour of the attractive property by the staff member on duty. My room was spacious and comfortable along with the bathroom that had a shower in it. The ac worked well too. The TV was a smaller screen that I think was less than 32" and was mounted high up on the wall so TV watching could be better. The room had a small refrigerator in it. Shortly after checking in I received a series of text messages from the owner regarding information about Isabel II such as restaurants nearby, grocery stores, taxi info, tour companies, etc, which was helpful. Bravo Beach is well maintained with 2 freshwater pools and less than 20 rooms all with outdoor facing entrances. It is located directly on the water with a beach but swimming is not allowed or desired from the shell beach however the beach is available for walking. The hotel does offer the free use of beach supplies like coolers and folding chairs, etc. if you need them. They do have their own small parking lot and more parking next to the hotel but I'm not sure they have enough parking if all of their rooms are full. The hotel is located about a 6-7 minute walk from the ferry terminal. If I returned to Vieques I would be happy to stay at Bravo Beach Hotel again.
