Lava Rock Steak This steak was was added last year and the 3 times I've ordered it did not disappoint. We do "Mexican Nite" here the majority of Friday nights because they take reservations and our group is at least 10. Last night was my birthdasy and our group was well taken care of by our long time "regular" waitress Nichole. We had a great time in spite of the rainy weather and some street flooding! I've eaten at Casa Sanchez several times. I'm from out of town, and I know Prescott has many great restaurants. Casa Sanchez is a casual place. They serve fine traditional dishes; tacos, enchiladas, chile relleno, etc. The service is mainly good, with attentive staff. 2 weeks ago I had the fried Tilapia. The fish was presented intact, with head and fins. Very tasty, but I will likely stick to what I know next time around. read more

The food is a medium, prices are reasonable, and the place looks OK. However the customer service is lacking staff members or they are so busy about something that customers don't know about. Employees are constantly running around in the restaurant but hardly ever come to serve you. Whenever you ask for help it's always a different employee that comes over to your table, as if they don't have enough waiter/waitresses. They seem to be very busy but for no reason, because the priority is to serve the customers first, but it takes them a long time to get them to your table. Went in with a group from work because a friend said "they have the best margaritas in town". Sounded promising! The margaritas were very good. But nothing else was. The salsa was red water with a few bits in it. Chips were oily and musky. Food in general was blah.The flan was funny tasting flan-flavored jello. Service was slow, uncaring, unfriendly, and... well 'service' is not the correct word for what the staff member who interfaced with us did. Wow, I was not prepared for how horrible this was I just got a bad feel about the place in general too, so later on I checked the County Health Inspection records on line. It appears as though in the past 2 years Casa Sanchez has had 7 routine inspections and failed 4 of those for critical food violations including improper food handling, storage and temperature. One of those inspections required 3 follow up with more violations until they go it right. The most recent one this year was a fail too. Having been in food service management in AZ (in my younger days) for many years, this says to me that they just don't care about established safety practices. I will never eat here again. Good food, good service, pleasant clean atmosphere. For me, I like my food spicier but I understand my tongue must be partly numb from all the years of eating spicy foods. So, for most people it is probably just right. Asking for the picante salsa helps a lot. It is not often that you go to a mexican restaurant these days and order an enchilada chili relleno combo plate with a nice dinner salad for under $10. You also get a generous helping of tasty chips and salsa too. This place is easy to find but is tucked in the back end of Prescott on Gurley Street near Thumb Butte. Business on this end of town seems to be a bit slow so you might want to track up this way and give these guys a try. read more

This used to be my favorite Mexican Restaurant, the food and service used to be very good ! Last night my neighbor and I decided to go there to eat ! That was a real bad idea. We ordered , simple dinners SIMPLE ! I ordered 2 cheese enchiladas beans an rice w/ green verde sauce . She ordered taco and enchilada beans n rice ! We got cold food , plus I ended up with a nasty red Sauce and she got the verde sauce! Every thing was horrid ,we told the waitress and she never asked if she could offer a discount nothing ! She was like oh well . When I say cold , swear to you it was , tasteless full of raw onions I couldn't find the cheese ! Awful , horrid she could care less of our telling her what was wrong ! Good food, great service at very reasonable prices. The food is what I would call 'home-style Mexican'. Not overly spicy or made with elaborate sauces or garnishes. Just fresh hearty portions served the way you want. Great burritos, chimis, tacos, enchiladas, great meat and chicken dishes. I love the burritos, carnitas, and huevos rancheros. I've never tried any of the seafood offerings. The staff is very friendly and service is fast. One of my favorite features is that they are very good about tailoring the food to you individual requests. If a dish comes with ranchero sauce and you want salsa verde, you got it. If you want Culinary Institute food this is not the place for you. But if you like hearty, fresh dishes, good guacamole, fast friendly service at very reasonable prices this is the casa for you. read more

There are a lot of items on their menu that I really enjoy. I also think the prices are reasonable. I had a terrible experience with a waitress there and I brought it to the attention of the owner, I believe he spoke to her but he never came back to the table to say he was sorry that one of his employees was so rude. I stopped in on a Thursday night and the place was quite busy, and obviously there were a lot of locals. I had the Chili Colorado, which was a bit tough but very tasty. Beans, rice, tortillas, salsa, etc were eall good, as was the margarita. Good solid Mexican American joint. I'll be back next time I'm in town. read more

After reading the reviews, we trundled over to the restaurant. Uh-oh not one non-white person was dining. We found out why. In general the food was not Mexican. The tamale for example tasted and looked to be a slice of cornbread from a box, stuffed with shredded chicken in sweet bbq sauce. It resembled a child's Easy Bake Oven recipe. Similar comments could be levied at all the dishes we tried. The soups were a different story. They were fresh, hot and delicious with a heritage that pointed to Mexico. The margaritas were so syrupy to be undrinkable. The Blue Moon might be the best because it seemed to have more alcohol to cut through some of the sweetness. Our waitress said she could make us one without sugar but she never produced one. My guess is the Sanchez family had to adapt recipes to appeal to the local tastes. While interesting to see how a restaurant adapts to stay in business I didn't find it particularly tasty. Hmmmm. Very disappointed. This was our second trip here seeing as the first time was pretty good we decided to give it another go on Mother's Day. What a mistake!!!! We had chips and salsa delivered to the table, half the chips were burnt and the "salsa" was water with some chunks in it. All three of us had cheese enchiladas. What can I say, how do you screw cheese enchiladas up? Well they did. Flavorless dry and just not good. I never leave food on my plate, but sad to say I could not eat these. The Blue Moon Margarita is amazing and they actually put a decent amount of alcohol in their drinks, which is a nice switch. We've never had anything that we didn't like although many of their standard dishes are just that, standard; their specialties really are pretty special though. We have gone to this place for the six years we have lived in Prescott, and have never been disappointed. We usually get fajitas or a chili relleno, and they are so good that we haven't branched out much. But we have tried the corn tamales, tacos, burritos and margaritas, and they are all outstanding. My sister and I ate here, 1st time ever on 11/24/2020, late around 6:30. They seemed to have a nice crowd for that time of day. We were seated immediately. Our waitress was excellent, friendly and informative. We both had the wet chili verde burro. Food came out fairly quickly and was nice and hot (temp wise, not spice wise). I don't claim to be an expert, but for my taste buds, and those of my sisters, the green chili was excellent. Lots of nice chunky pork, the gravy was a great consistency and the addition of onions and chili peppers was a perfect ratio. The salsa was nice and mild, I would have preferred something with a bit more kick. But we were tired from the day, and I forgot to ask. My only draw back was there was way to much salt on the chips. So, had to tap/brush that off before eating. Otherwise 10 stars. Will for sure be a place I eat at anytime I am in town. read more

If I can give a negative 5 stars that would suit this place completely. I went in today ordered a pina colada that was 100% just ice chips it was undrinkable sent that back which I never ever do cuz it was just undrinkable. Then I ordered a carne asada and the server proceeded to bring me out a well done petite sirloin the cheapest cut of steak ever not even a flank steak like how they normally would use in a restaurant the beans taste like soap I don't know if there was still soap in the pot when they cook them or what the food was completely inedible when I told the server this she proceeded to hand me the bill for the full amount of the food I went up to the counter and argued with who I assumed was the manager or owner of the restaurant and he proceeded to tell me how I ate the food and I was arguing with him for a solid couple of minutes they know you need to look again I did not eat any of that and then he said well I'll charge you for half I proceeded to give the man $6 and walked out the door. The most terrible food you could ever have in Prescott Taco Bell is a million times better than this place. I have no clue how they stay in business. read more

I am somewhat of a Mexican food snob. That being said, after 14 years visiting and now 2 years living in the area, this place wins. If you like spicy salsa...you will not be disappointed. I've always enjoyed this place to eat, however, today, I was disappointed that the server sort of misled us on the price of the happy hour margaritas. Apparently there is a happy hour price and thee is a "large margarita" price. Bottom line is that 3.50 margaritas turned into 5.50 margaritas. As locals, we frequent this establishment. Consistently delicious. Best margaritas in town (strong and yummy). Breakfast is a hidden secret. Literally the best pancakes we've had. My family has been eating at this location since I 1999, we've seen the change of mangers and restaurants(surprisingly all Mexican) and I have to say casa Sanchez if the best by far in 2016. The service is great, the food is delicious and they are always willing to fix an order if for some reason it was not to your satisfaction! I'd eat there everyday if I could and that is saying a lot since my mom makes Mexican food herself and I'm super picky when choosing a place to eat menudo, enchilada, carne asada, tamales, tacos, ect. I've lived in Prescott only 6 months and I just stumbled across this place. I'm surprised no one recommended it to me before. I grew up on Mexican food all my life and Casa Sanchez is up in my top 5. As usual Yelpers are full of crap. Casa Sanchez is a great little place in Prescott. The salsa is a different kind of salsa than most places serve, it is much more soupy and not chunky or pico de galla style. But it tastes fantastic! The chile relleno is made the way chile rellenos should be made, with very little batter to take away from the taste of the chile. Chile relleno's are not supposed to be hot as another reviewer suggested. I would be willing to bet big money that if he had of asked the chef to make him a hot relleno they would have gladly obliged by putting red pepper flakes inside the relleno. The beans and rice both have authentic taste and the cheese enchilada was very good also. I ate some of my wifes shrimp taco and I know it is hard to make a bad shrimp taco but it was mui bueno also. All in all I would have to say that I love this place and they make great Margarita's also so don't listen to people who haven't learned what their mother told them long ago. In fact more Yelpers need to learn that if you don't have anything good to say don't say anything at all. And please remember that there are real people on the other side of your review! read more

The food remains good but watch your bill and clarify prices on specials including margaritas and happy hour. This restaurant is playing car lot tactics! Shame shame shame! Awful, inauthentic, reheated, and just plain-old terrible. The service was good, the restaurant was clean, but the food was bad. I had a Burrito Colorado, and I couldn't find a thing about it I liked. No real flavor to it, the beef was hard and chewy, the sauce was watery and gross... All in all, just a horrid meal. I live down the block from this place and thought I should try it. I was a little nervous at first, as it is basically in the parking lot of a gas station. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. I guess this is a decent place to eat, not terrible but not great. However, in a city as small as Prescott, sometimes you've got to take what you can get. On an upside, the staff at Casa Sanchez is always friendly and helpful. I've yet to have bad service or a grumpy, crabby server. Service gets an A for effort. One of my biggest complaints is that the chips taste like they just came out of a bag and the salsa is so watery and tastes only of black pepper. One of my favorite things of going out to eat for Mexican food is chips and salsa - big disappointment. My daughter and I split a combo plate. We ordered a cheese enchilada, a pork tamale and a shredded beef taco, it came with soup too!. The taco was actually one of the best tacos I've had in a long time. Casa Sanchez definitely does NOT skimp on meat! It was stuffed with yummy beef. The enchilada was made with a corn tortilla - my favorite way, but the sauce was sweet. Bleck. The pork tamale was decent, not great, but okay. The sauce on the tamale was GREAT! Had I of known how good it would be, I would have asked to have it on the enchilada as well! Good service, decent food. We will probably go back in the future but it isn't one of those places that you think about and crave going. Two stars because my wife liked the whole fried fish. Been here twice and both times my food was terrible. Chile relleno, tacos, cheese enchilada, and the carne asada. I actually returned the carne asada because it was terrible. The texture of the meat gave me the willys, and the red sauce it was in was terrible. They brought me a relleno and enchilada that were inedible. This is the worst Mexican food I have ever attempted to eat. It is a rarity for me to return food, but this was plain bad. I feel sorry for the people giving 5 stars apparently they have never been to a "berto's"- TroyBerto, AliBerto, FilBerto, etc. - Where you could get 10 times better food for a third of the price. This was absolutely the worst not just the worst Mexican food just the worst food ever. I don't think they season anything. Salsa was soupy and bland. The dressing on the salad blah. The Mr. got a Chimichanga that was just soggy sauce. I got the Albondigas soup- it was just water with gross vegetables with two balls that were supposed to be meatballs. I did not eat more than 3 bites of the soup. Maybe my expectations of Mexican food are too high living in San Diego all I can say was gross gross gross. read more
