Casablanca is run by Mrs. Pamela Martin. She shot our wedding in Oct. '09, and I was in for a big surprise. Brides, PLEASE, do your homework and research before contracting a wedding photographer. You will find that you need to look at MORE THAN THEIR PORTFOLIO. Mrs. Martin had a very polished portfolio to show me, but our finished product was nothing like the images she shared with me. Granted, she was very professional and helpful on the day of the wedding - more helpful than most of my bridesmaids - but the follow through process in getting our pictures back was a nightmare. I had to keep calling and calling. She would never return my phone calls, but only sent emails. It took roughly THREE MONTHS for us to get proofs. In her defense, it was a LOT of pictures, because it was a huge wedding, and they'd been retouched. But there were these god-awful shadows in many of the studio images. (They set up a mobile studio at the reception.) The pictures in the church were dark. Had we not had so many relatives shooting with their own digital cameras, we would not have gotten such a good collection of images. Sadly enough, many of their amateur pictures came out better than Casablanca's. I purchased her most expensive package and also had to pay a $150 fee for her to make a 3-hour drive to our wedding location. This "platinum" package came with the assurance that there would be a 2nd "photographer." When I consulted with her, I was given the impression that this would be another professional photographer. SILLY ME...I should have verified who that person would be! She brought her husband as the 2nd photographer and her two teenage kids, and the teen daughter shot some pictures too. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Her family members were/are NOT professional photographers, and that was evident in our finished product. All told, we were disappointed in what we got for our money. Mrs. Martin was advertising on Craigslist when she'd seen a wedding ad of mine, and SHE emailed me! I just expected better, and we totally disappointed that we got no explanation or apology for the lackluster follow-through and substandard quality in so many of the prints. Heck, they won't even enlarge well - the resolution gets all wack when we go to enlarge them, so I have no clue about what settings they were using. I would NOT recommend them...at least not for large weddings or photographing darker skin tones. read more
