Khalida was excepcional! She did such a great job, is very knowledgeable of the menu. Highly recommend making reservations. We went on a Monday evening and it was busy. The food was soo good, we enjoyed every bite. Make sure to take a jacket, especially if you're sitting outside The heaters are on and I believe they have blankets too for the patio tables. I loved the vibe of this restaurant. We ordered oysters and they were very delicious. We also tried mushrooms and bone marrow and it was the best thing we tried 100/10. Everything we ate was delicious. Go check them ou

We went here for our anniversary dinner, and it was amazing! We saw recommendations of this place on TikTok and in several guides when planning our trip to Carmel, and it definitely exceeded our expectations. We ordered the seafood pasta and lasagna, both of which were amazing and packed full of flavor. We paired it with a lovely Chardonnay as recommended by our waitress. The ambiance of the place is very old-world Italian villa vibes, and it is in a great location tucked away from the main street of Carmel. Would definitely come back here for a lovely local date night dinner!

Casanova is soaked with history. Charli Chaplins cool lived here until she passed and the property was purchased and remodeled by the current owners. Not much to look at from the outside it is full of romantic charm inside. There is a large tree growing right in the middle of the restaurant making the establishment mostly open air. Casanova has the largest wine selection in Carmel and also has a sommelier. Unfortunately the wine cellar was having work done so we could not see it. We reserved Van Gogh's Table. Yes it is the table Van Gogh had meals at during his last days. No it's not just a room named after Van Gogh. The table was acquired in 2002 and can be reserved. Eating at the table was far more rewarding than looking at a piece of art or walking through a historical building. Service was fast and courteous we had no complaints. Our meal was excellent. The macerated beet salad was won of the best I gave had. The local caught salmon was also excellent. Prices are high and portions are not large but the romantic ambience is undeniable.

Ok. Whole review matters here. 1. Hostess was rude. Not friendly. (Marina?) 2. Sommelier (Matthew) spent a total of 76 seconds asking us about the wine we liked before settling on a bottle and walking away. 3. Server (Hector) nice guy, but not a friendly vibe. We looked up reviews and expected an amazing experience, and we feel like we got less than half of that. Didn't end up ordering a main dish because we felt unwanted here. We spent $100 on 2 martini's and caviar at the place next door for happy hour. It wasn't about the money, it was the treatment. Did not ever feel welcoming. The only nice person to us was the busboy, Carlos, who just started there. We were dressed nice and acted appropriately, but felt the service, from the second we walked in, was jaded or rude. Will not be coming back. Vibe check: 3/10 Restaurant ambiance: 7/10 Food: 6/10 (apps) Service: 2/10 Welcome Host: 2/10

I was really disappointed with our experience at Casanova. The service was extremely poor from start to finish. No one came by to check on us, ask how our food was, or see if we needed anything else throughout the meal. We felt completely forgotten. I had also noted in the reservation comments that we were celebrating my husband's birthday and even mentioned it again, but nothing was ever acknowledged. While I don't expect anything extravagant, some recognition would have been appreciated. As for the food, it was hit or miss. The linguine was delicious and easily the highlight of the meal. However, the bone marrow with mushrooms was disappointing, the mushrooms were rubbery and there was very little marrow for the price. The Dover sole was also underwhelming, as it was bland and desperately needed seasoning. Fortunately the ambiance somewhat made us forget about the lack of attention as it gives off a quaint tavern vibe. Overall, the food had some bright spots, but the lack of service and attention to detail made for a frustrating dining experience. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return based on this visit.

The restaurant is set up with a tree in the middle which was very good. We started with mushrooms that had the same sauce as escargot which was delicious and baked Bri with honey. Then I got the linguini and that was absolutely delicious. Service was quick and attentive - highly recommend!

Bone Marrow :( so good but the hair was off putting to our meal

It honestly pains me to write this because my husband and I have loved Casanova for years. We first dined here in 2023 and have talked about it ever since; so much so that we chose to come back to celebrate our anniversary. That's why this experience felt so disappointing. We were especially excited for the bone marrow, but within the first few bites, we found a hair in the dish. I tried to brush it off, but moments later, we found another long hair tangled in the food. At that point, I felt completely unsettled and honestly couldn't continue eating it. When we let our waitress know, she apologized, but then left the dish sitting on our table for the next 15 minutes while we just sat there, uncomfortable and unsure of what to do. There was no offer to replace it, no reassurance, no real attempt to fix the situation. Eventually, she came back and simply asked if we were done and took it away. What made it worse was that we then had to awkwardly ask for the dish to be remade ourselves--something that, in our experience, should have been immediately offered. For a restaurant at this price point, the lack of care in handling something so off-putting was honestly shocking. My husband and I genuinely think that if we had not said anything, this issue would not have been resolved and we would have ended up paying for a dish that was inedible due to poor preparation. Thankfully, the refired dish and the rest of the meal (spinach gnocchi, prime rib, cannelloni, and rice pudding) were delicious, and the atmosphere is still as warm and charming as we remembered. But the way this situation was handled completely overshadowed what should have been a special anniversary dinner. Mistakes happen. The way they're handled is what defines the experience. Unfortunately, this one left us more disappointed than anything else.

Glad I picked Casanova for our only night in Carmel and my bday dinner . I had visited over the years but last time was a while ago, the menu has improved considerably and we loved everything The food was outstanding Service was gracious, kind , very attentive people work there and makes sure everyone is having a good experience We sat in the front patio , plenty of tables and dog friendly, it was a fall evening and started getting cold but they have heat lamps. Such a treat

I really enjoyed my dinner at Casanova but overall was let down. We were celebrating a special occasion, and given how much we spent, I would've liked something special or a free dessert. Anyways, I have also been here before and the quality of the food was a bit of a miss. Tapenade with bread: 7.5/10 There were three pieces of bread and the tapenade was not good. Bread was really good though. Burrata: 9/10 Fresh and great combo with the peaches and plums. Lamb: 7/10 Flavor was really good but for $80 it's two pieces of lamb and they were 20% fat and 50% bone. Mushrooms were delicious though. Wagyu: 6/10 Not sure how you can call this wagyu when it was so tough! It also has weird bits of tough lining. Not worth $100. Gnocchi: 7/10 Was super disappointed as I have dreamt about eating this again. The gnocchi crumbled because it was overcooked and the cheese was super thin and the sauce was super liquid. Very bummed overall.

Amazing food, adorable atmosphere in Carmel! What a cute restaurant! This spot perfectly captures the charm of Carmel by the Sea. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is cute and cozy, and the service is friendly and helpful. This place is really popular. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. Don't miss this gem!

Amazing food. Lively ambience. The gnocchi was soft and the sauce coated the dish perfectly. Portions were a bit small, so recommend ordering a few things. Food: 9/10 Service: 9/10 Ambience: 9/10

The service here was excellent warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, the kind you savor bite by bite. If you're looking for a relaxing, romantic evening, I'd highly recommend this place. It is on the expensive side, but the quality of the food is truly worthy of a five-star rating. One of the most charming details? There's even a room where the painter Picasso once dined, which adds such a unique touch to the atmosphere. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was the cost but if we're talking purely about the food, it's an easy five.

Great spot for date night vibes. We sat outdoors by the tree in the courtyard and thought it was romantic and a great setting for a lovely evening. The food was good but greatly overpriced for what you get. I got the seafood linguine after having seen Carmel influencers hype it up online, and for a $58 dish I was pretty disappointed that the shrimp was overcooked and the dish overall can be more flavorful. The highlight for us was the gnocchi dish, which had great flavor and texture. For the price of what you get, we likely will not return unless we are looking for an Italian place more for the vibe over the food.

My partner decided to go with a glass of the Brut Rose whilst I chose the tasting flight (5 wines for $40). All of the wines here are expertly made and of a beautiful style. I can't say there wasn't a wine here that I didn't thoroughly enjoy. The Brut Rose is a beautiful champagne style rose. The Rose of Pinot Noir was also excellent. A fantastic light yet flavorful wine. The chardonnay was also excellent and of a beautiful style with just a touch of oak. Next was their Passetoutgrain, which is a blend of gamay noir and pinot noir. Also in the tasting were two pinot noirs, the base pinot noir and the El Bec. Both were beautiful expressions of pinot noir. Wonderful balance of fruit, earth and spice. Finally, we had to try the Brut Cuvee, which is only offered by the glass. A truly beautiful wine reminiscent of the Champagne region. Service was from a couple of friendly and very knowledgeable attendants. The glassware here is beautiful and perfect for the wine served. The wines were all served at the proper temperature. And the pours were of a generous volume such that you could fully experience the wines. If you're in Carmel, you owe it to yourself to visit Caraccioli.
