BACKGROUND: We wanted bookshelves installed above a built-in cabinet unit in our living room. I sent Jitendra a sketch and described what we wanted. From my chicken-scratch sketch, he created a design and mock-up, then measured our space. While measuring, he flagged all existing flaws in the space (uneven/slanted walls) so that we were aware of all inconsistencies upfront. He has amazing attention to detail! RESULTS: We were simply blown away by how well he was able to match the custom shelves to our existing unit; all of the wood looks like it was manufactured at the same time! It truly looks like it was all constructed as one piece from the very beginning, which is exactly what we wanted. In addition, we really appreciate that he took initiative to incorporate crown molding/extra detail on the top of the shelving unit. This is something that I would never have thought to do. After several minutes of this, I asked if we could just refocus on the conversation. My SF house has traditional styling with crown moldings and wood floors so the modern glass media cart my husband bought to house our AV equipment just never looked right to me. I already had a good idea of what I wanted, cabinets and a floating shelf above, painted to match the existing trim (I knew the exact color from an earlier paint job). I found Scott's business on Yelp and looked at his web site. Photos of his previous projects were very helpful as I could see the cabinet styles were a good match to my vision. At our first meeting, Scott made helpful suggestions for the styling of the doors and shelf edges, then emailed me preliminary 3D drawings a couple days later. The drawers on the right side cabinet have automatic soft close slides which are oh-so-cool. I wanted sliding doors so we could open them while using our AV system, for better dissipation of heat and no need for IR repeaters. Scott installed grommets (painted to match) for running cables out of the front of the cabinets to the pair of speakers that flank the fireplace. Cutouts and grommets were installed in interior shelves for cable management. I've included some photos on this Yelp page. Scott and his team did the demolition work on the existing closet space extremely quickly and efficiently, and came up with clever ways to save us from having to re-do the hardwood floor around the closet.
