Definitely do not use this company. I had old out-of-date breakers and decided to install a new,…read moreexpanded panelboard. The first electrician came out with the panel, worked for a few hours and said he was leaving and didn't know when he could come back. The next day I called their offices to see when they were rescheduling him. They didn't know he had left the job undone. Fortunately, I did have electric. A few days later a different electrician came out and finished the job. In the meantime, I realized that they hadn't obtained a permit for the panel--something that is required under Florida law. They tried to tell me that if I wanted one I would have to pay an additional $250. My husband was an electrical engineering and my father built houses. I know that permits are there to make sure the work is done correctly and to have an unrelated person inspect the work. After I reported them to the State of Florida, they obtained the permit (it cost them $50). Then the inspector came out and found several things wrong with the installation, including that there were exposed wires. The company sent a different electrician out to correct the errors; he finished marking the panel for which breakers applied to which circuits. In the process he covered up the related numbers; so to figure out which numbers applied to which breakers I had to count each breaker. Unfortunately, I had a breaker blow (my fault on this one) but when I tried to reset it, nothing happened. So I called a different company to, I thought, replace an outlet. Turned out it cost me $65 to have him flip what appeared to be a totally unrelated breaker. It was labelled Outlet Lights, not Microwave as it should have been. I'm exhausted and leery of anything that happens with my electric. Somehow I have to figure out how to identify and relabel the breakers.

Response time to my emails was literally right away or an hour at max. When Allan came out to do the estimate, he was cordial and easy to get along with. He took photos and gave me a realistic best case scenario cost and also a worst case scenario. The worst case cost was even reasonable. He was very upfront with everything. Also they give military and senior discounts. Tony came out to do the work and arrived on time and was also very nice. He got to work very quickly and finished everything in two hours. I had an outside outlet created, where one prior did not exist. I also had a outlet installed where one was not but it had a box for it. The last thing Tony did was put a light on an outside pole, including new piping and fittings for the wires, and an new electrical outlet. All outlets are GFI. I couldn't be any happier with the service I received from beginning to end. I would highly recommend them to any one.

However, the main job, a double tap on the panel was the requested service. He did correct the double tap by committing a perhaps more serious code violation, he removed the whole house surge protector. He was aware we did not have much time to correct this new code violation due to the house's scheduled closing. He advised he would be back in a couple of days. That was weeks ago. Tabitha is the person at this company that handles AHS calls. I called Tabitha multiple times. I only spoke to her only the first time and she acted as if I was disturbing her because I called. I advised her of the need for expediency and she was most unpleasant. All of the other many times I called and left messages were ignored. I even called American Home Shield immediately after another call to her in which she ignored. She answered AHS's call and advised them she was waiting on parts. AHS advised me to call her if she did not call me in a couple of days, those calls were ignored as well. She finally, after weeks, contacted me. She was aware it was too late but I guess she needed to close the service through AHS. Because of this company's neglect, we were forced to contact another company. We called Snyder Electric and they were wonderful. This was completed in an hour by Snyder. Cosmac/TLC Electric should be avoided. I could not imagine a worse experience with any company.

I was just as surprised to learn that the famed hat-maker once called the small town of DeLand, FL home. I happened to be visiting during peak manatee season and so had the privilege of being able to still enjoy the mansion during its special holiday tour season. During the holiday tour, each room of the mansion has a unique theme to it that you get to learn all about from your helpful docent. Not only do you get to the enjoy the wonderful story of that room's decorations theme but the history of the home and family is wonderfully blended in. I'm told that obviously during the regular historical tour you dive deeper but I left learning waaaaay more about the Stetson family than I ever expected (or knew). The home is privately owned and you the love and passion the new owners have for the historic property is evident in every room. We even had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners (the super sweet and DeLand native, Kayla) I was surprised to learn she had even created many of the decorations herself that adorned the opulent rooms in the mansion. The Stetson Mansion is a great example of one of the many historical gems tucked away in Florida small towns that you can stumble upon when exploring the state. Whether you're doing the regular history tour or holiday tour, you're sure to have a fabulous visit to the Stetson Mansion.
