What a great little shop!…read more Everything for the eco-warrior. Whilst visiting a festival in Rochester I came across this shop (hard to miss with a green and yellow shop front). It sells a whole range of things whether an educational kit, solar gadget, organic cosmetics and foods. Essential oils and bath products, not to mention an excellent range of organic cotton and fairtrade t-shirts. Definitely worth a look if you are passing.

The ground floor is pretty much all overpriced food, (the same stuff you can get in Tesco for like half the price, because it's not just food, it's M&S food, as if that's some sort of special food). The food however is very clearly labelled, and well planned out, though some of the aisles are a bit close to each other, but not overly close that you can't get around. The top floor caters for clothing, which in contrast to the food isn't that bad priced, (especially underwear), though of course the fashion items are very costly. Also featured is a cafe area where you can rest to eat and drink, and the food is pretty nice, if a bit on the expensive side. The staff are friendly and helpful, and will help you any way they can. The shop also features a large lift for disabled access, though it is a bit out of the way, at the far end of the store.

It has separated the…read moredownstairs into more distinctive areas, with women's clothing including 'per una' at the front of the store, and the food department at the back. The food area is now laid out better and it is easier to find what you want. There are also tills fro those with only a basket to speed up service, although it is still sometimes a little slow. There is a lift and escalator up to the first floor which has women's underwear and accessories, men's clothing and a small eange of children's clothing. It also has a larger cafe and customer services. The cafe is often very full but has good wheelchair / buggy access. The tables are very close to each other but it is usually possible to find a space.

Still have some decent one's though - New Look is pretty good but very small, 2 sports places, Boots, BHS, Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury's ect along with a couple of Cafe's and Mobile Phone store's. Best place being Thornton's though (woohoo chocolate!!) but it's tiny. Food court has a bit to offer too but jam packed with que's at the weekend. Saturday you can wait at KFC for anything up to an hour!! Then there's Burger King, Spud U Like and Subway which rarely have any que's at all. Lot's of parking but come the weekend there doesn't seem to be quite enough. Good place to go if you need to pick up a few bit's but any serious shopper is better off heading to Bluewater or Lakeside.

Seriously though, they're very helpful, and the shop is very well arranged, and well spaced out; and I've never had any trouble getting around the shop itself. And as stated, the smell is always alluring, though this does sometimes make it hard to smell one particular item if you're deciding whether to purchase it or not.

The prices are often good but it is always worth checking in Wilkinson or the poundshop if you are after something in particular. They sell similar stuff to Wilkinsons but it is all a bit more random. Stock includes a small amount of toiletries, books, tools, pet care and seasonal goods. They also sell clothes, sweets, storage boxes and baskets, kitchen goods, cups and picture frames. It is not usually busy and they are always happy to open up new checkouts but the staff can be a little slow.
